I bet the translucent mask version is the one they intended all along(running change). The first one could be harder to find.

It's interesting to see how many variants there are. I'm not overly fussed and I usually look at the differences and see which one I like better. As of yet I've found no reason to get two of the same figure, apart from replacing my Movie Thor with a comic Thor... Also Johnny Storm flame off and flame on... They look totally different so it's ok... still need to get my hands on them.

Lol, sorry. I have to admit, someone else tipped me off, I didn't figure it out myself.

Apparently there are differences in the old vs new Captain Marvel packaging too...

They changed the card art. Wonder if they corrected the name on the stand. Can't tell in the pic there.

Nope, lol. The new one (on the left) still says 'Sampson'. What boneheads.

No, but apparently it's much more subtle. I only have the revision pack one.

Whoever is in charge of the art dept at Hasbro did a poor job on changing the art for the Doc Samson card, the lightning emblem on his chest is all wrong now. Looks like they just flipped the original art and nothing else.

wolverine2281 11-30-2011 10:33 PM

Yes that's all they did. same with capt. Marvel. I'll post pics tomorrow

flipwilson 12-01-2011 10:14 PM

Hit the nail on the head. Packaging variants have to be the silliest thing ever. Not a good way to end the year hasbro...not a good way at all.

Ah the variant with clear arms...that is soo cool...love those figs with clear parts....

Jason Abbadon 12-02-2011 01:26 AM

I wonder if we'll see variants in wave 17...or will the variants be confined to the revision cases? if there are Wave 117 variants...which ones could they be? STorn in her white 90's putfit maybe...I'd love a Betsy in her late 80's pink armor...too much to hope for, I know- the days of a radicly unique variant seem past us, unfortunately.

...and when will we see the Darkhawk variant?!?!

Whenever we get the Luke Cage & Black Widow variants?

Peteparker 12-03-2011 01:53 AM

Bad news for you MOC collectors like myself:

http://s2.i1.picplzthumbs.com/upload...368c4_wmeg.jpg

THREE, count them, THREE Doc Samson Variants. Can you spot them all?

One has opposite side art, one has a gold SHIELD logo.

Tiberius 12-03-2011 01:54 AM

That has to be a joke. Hasbro has to be pulling our legs here. These stupid variants won't continue will it?

FancyPants 12-03-2011 02:10 AM

At what point does it stop being a miss print and become a variant?

The one I have is the blueish wash

Peteparker 12-03-2011 02:33 AM

It looks like they were making adjustments to the final product as they were making them, leaving the original (facing the other direction), the middle, new direction, black logo, and the final new direction, gold logo.

I'm sure the black logo on the new direction was a mistake that was caught mid-production.

Me too, from the new revision pack.

Autobot_Goldbug 12-03-2011 03:51 AM

Remember blue wash Thor?
I've heard rumors he is showing up at Family Dollar stores no less!
One would think logically that bluer Cap 1st appearance is with him too.
I'm checking my FD store tomorrow.

both of my revs. have the gold shield. Looks like the one with the black shield will be harder to find since it is most likely just an error.
