You would think that a near death experience would prompt me to go ahead and open all of my Preds up...yet, they're still sitting on the wall, undisturbed. One day...lol....

Glad I can still at least live vicariously through the rest of you! Mint & Pudding there look great next to each other!

snake5289 10-02-2015 12:47 AM

I wish someone would make some decent 3.75 Predators. Not only could my Origins Batman go toe to toe with one but also Sub-Zero now that he's part of MKX.

I've seen the Microman Predators but they're expensive and I've read that they fall apart if you look at them wrong. Come on NECA get on this already! You did the Gears of War figures but then just quit. WHY?!?!?!

Unfortunately UK Toys R Us stores don't seem to get anything that is from a show or film that is geared more towards adults. They've never sold any Breaking Bad stuff (Even the Pops) but they have had the Game of Thrones Pop Vinyls for a while. Seeing NECA figures in UK Toys R Us stores would be a dream come true. Just another line American stores have that we don't. It's not like we can't get them at all here (I've bought a lot of mine online) but there are no stores near me that sell them, so it would be nice.

I have to guess the Gears weren't received well enough. On its own this sucks for two reasons: I liked the little Gears (despite some bad paint on series 1 faces) and we never got any Locust out of the scale. I would have loved a tiny General Raam with his monstrous under-bite.
Predators in the 3.75" scale would have been neat but I suppose the focus would still have been on the primary 7" scale and the smaller ones would have faded like the Gears did.

snake5289 10-02-2015 08:43 AM

They can focus on the main 7 inch line all they want. I hope it continues for years. Just need one 3.75 Predator though.

With Star Images being a distributor, they probably won't sell direct. I hope it does land here in some way, shape or form. I think it's great, pudding and all!

That said, if there's anyone in the US who can snag an extra, I'll gladly throw the dollars your way!

It's up on Forbidden Planet International's website now, so I guess it should turn up in their stores soon.

Not sure where else to post this but has anyone seen an Alien Queen like this before???

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/...psju8mnp85.jpg

I was at my local Hastings and the Queen they had in store was very different from the one I have. She has a LOT more of the gold/bronze highlights on her than I have ever seen on any of the figure I had seen before. this went all the way down her back as far as I could see in the package and a little more of the silver detail on the arm tubes and her nails. I prefer my Queen that has the more solid Blue/Black tone over her. Mine is a fairly early one when she came out, but the gold/bronze on mine is MUCH more subtle than this one. Maybe this one just got some extra paint.

All the ones I have seen have a silver-ish blue/black wash over them. I've never seen one with gold accents like that before...but I don't own that figure either to make any comparisons unfortunately. Still...looks like news to me.

donmeca2020 10-15-2015 11:42 AM

i don't have one neither, so i couldnt tell you brotha... it could be a redo or possibly a variant????

Fyodor Hotpants 10-18-2015 05:04 AM

I have a Queen in my pile of loot at BBTS. I hope it's not as gold as this one - way, way too much, methinks.

On a better note, found some more Preds this week. Getting there...

Trivial Psychic 10-18-2015 10:39 PM

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the AVP figures that were supposed to come out this month have been pushed back to late December according to BBTS.

Bummed out it's being pushed back, but that said, it gives my wallet a break at least for the time being. =P

Yup, I pre-ordered them from another site which said October and they weren't in stock on the given date, only to find out a little later about the delay.

yeah

the second batch(2015) released by NECA has a heavier bronze/gold wash
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6rzejgkn.jpg

vs

the first initial batch(2014) with light bronze/gold wash
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...psjgy4gtzs.jpg

I have 3 so far
picked up two in 2014 and then another this year
my first 2 have the light bronze/gold wash, while my 3rd one has the heavy wash

Phantomcrow 11-05-2015 12:58 AM

Cool pics, thanks. Glad I have the first version. The extra color looks strange to me.

LAWNMOWERMAN 11-05-2015 01:28 AM

yeah i had the same reaction too,

all 3 of mine are still in package but
when I get more room (" in general" :D) I plan to have it displayed in a dark lit set up
so it won't matter much

its still a sick sculpt tho in any case

brundlefly 11-05-2015 07:51 AM

I prefer the stronger bronze version, actually.

Monte Williams 11-22-2015 07:30 AM

Check your Hastings stores. They're gone now, but mine had two Classic Predators for $7 each. And an Elder, too.

I'm hoping NECA releases an ultimate Predator. It would just be Jungle Hunter (on the newer buck of course) with swap-off heads and a trophy or two but I would buy it because I don't have any normal Jungle Hunters, just water emergence and NES (they're both aswesome!). I already have Elder v2 so the first version at any price is pointless. I don't like how some people think an ultimate Predator figure should add torso articulation because that would be a guaranteed way to hurt the figure's look.

Monte Williams 11-22-2015 12:50 PM

Fair point, but there are already so many Predator figures that prioritize aesthetics over articulation; surely one that does the opposite wouldn't be an unwelcome addition?

The AVP ones are doing that already, but the ultimate figures are really about looks over articulation so an ultimate Jungle Hunter would be best suited basically just as a repack of the series 8 figure but with a swap off maskless head and some bonus accessories. I'm actually looking forward to getting Celtic to see how much more the articulation allows for pose but they can hide it under their armor whereas Jungle Hunter's would be bare and ugly.

Monte Williams 11-22-2015 01:05 PM

I have no dog in this fight, 'cause I don't collect Predator figures (although I was mighty tempted to nab a Classic Predator at $7!), but as for this:

...hasn't every Ultimate figure included more articulation than its standard predecessors? I thought that was part of the point?

Whatever the case, I don't know whether he's actually called Ultimate, but Hastings has an articulated, folly loaded Schwarzenegger Terminator figure... but the head sculpt is surprisingly, disappointingly weak.

Well so far there have only been 4 or 5 ultimate figures released and for some it's either their first NECA figure (John Matrix, Dante) or it's been a long time since their last figure (Leatherface, T2 T-800) so yes they have had higher articulation than previous versions if there were previous versions. The upcoming part VI Jason is an example of one that isn't really seeing any better articulation than some of his previous figures since the parts III and IV toys look to have the same range. From what I've gathered the main point of the ultimate line seems to be vast display options as each figure has swap-off heads (if applicable) and more accessories than a typical release. Regarding articulation I think it's better to compare to other current figures NECA is putting out and then articulation is pretty even across the board.

I don't know exactly which Terminator you saw but if it was the ultimate one with three heads and four or five guns then I can say the likeness is actually very good. I've seen at least a dozen of the ultimate T-800 including the one I own and only two had bad paint on the face (the lips were colored way too strongly on the main head).
