I know is not a surprise that McFDC is so popular among fans. Fan favorite McFarlane DC figures pre-orders were rapidly sold out on Walmart but some people thought that maybe it was because Walmart only had 1 or 2 cases, then figures were sold out on BBTS and it was impressive to see how Batman Hellbat Suit was #1 Best Seller on Amazon, with even better sales than Baby Yoda who is a current pop culture trend!
A solid start! |
Wow, so the Spin Masters child's toy Superman includes the yellow S on the back of the cape while MacFarlane's high end collectible version does not. That's kind of sad.

The only Mcfarlane one I might pick up is that comic Superman or Batman who laughs which actually looks really good imo. The Harley Quinn looks like a combination of animated(head) and comic(body) I wish Mcfarlane would do flash now haha |

Still have yet to see any of the new guys at any store. My Targets are full of Poison Ivy, Joker, and Wonder Girl that are on clearance for $6.

A less than 20 dollars figure is a high end collectible? Eh no, believe me it isn't.:D
I know McFDC are very popular and sold out on many websites right now but keep control the hype, they are far away from being high end collectibles. |

If people can't discuss these things without resorting to personal insults, I'm going to start banning people from the thread.

Gotta agree with Joe, let's keep it about the figures and not each other. Anyway, I would argue that no matter your economical situation, $20 is entry level price for Adult Collectibles. It's the standard (Marvel Legends, Black Series, DC Multi, etc) at least in 1/12 scale. Stuff like mission masters, or those cartoony Star Wars figures are aimed at kids, not adult collectors. Thus the price difference.

Found the entire wave at Target today, but I only wanted Superman to do a head swap onto the NECA body. Tony was right that the head doesn't fit the neck peg, but a donor peg and a screw sink for a sleeve makes it just about perfect! (Aside from a slight difference in skin tone but it's barely noticeable haha)

So I got to pick up Superman and Batman comic versions. Wasn't interested in the Timmverse stuff.
I never collected the 6 inch figures so scale isn't too much as issue for me(though I got plenty of Hasbro figs). First impressions I like them. For the price point I think they are solid. I thought the articulation wouldn't be all that great because reviewers tend to not pose figures in too extreme a way. My only real complaint is double jointed elbows should be standard. There is no reason Superman shouldn't have them. Let's shut down that nonsense right now. Also two gripping hands or two of each hand in the box. I'd prefer on either figure the capes were detachable. The preformed capes limits these figures and for some folks giving them an easy out would be great. Batman could be improved if he had a better cowl. It's so simplified that it's the weakest part of the body. Besides a bigger head, the cowl could get more anger face in there. Are stands becoming a thing because that a great thing. Finally the stands....maybe make them easier to take out. |
Finally came across these at retail today. My initial impression was: holy shit, are these figures are absolutely HUGE. I actually kind of hate that McFarlane went 7-inch scale with these, as they will never fit into any pre-existing DC or Marvel display. Also, as I've said previously, there's no uniform articulation standard, and the scale is completely off. Harley Quinn should not be as tall as Batman and Superman.
But all that aside, the figures are actually pretty nice looking otherwise, especially considering McFarlane is still experimenting with expanded articulation. The neck DC figures are nicer, but these aren't bad. And as for the 7-inch scale, if McFarlane is in the DC game for the long haul and is planning on delivering multiple waves and covering all of the major characters, then the fact that it's an all different scale from previous DC manufacturers is less of an issue. |
It seems like artists are kind of inconsistent about including the cape S on Superman in the comics, and as a result, the toymakers are inconsistent about it as well. And the tendency for it to be left off the cape in live action and animation adds to it.

Here’s a visual guide that goes over how Superman’s costume has changed over the decades. It goes over everything from his hair to his boots.

I found this Batman head swap pic on Reddit. The customizer used the head from the DC Collectibles GCPD Capullo Batman. Based on one of the comments, the head fits pretty well on the ball joint.

For those in the UK Game have started selling the Multiverse figures at the following prices:
Normal figures (BTAS Batman, Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn) 19.99 Larger Figs (Hellbat) 22.99 Figures with BAF (Nightwing, Batgirl, Batman Who Laughs) 24.99 Picked up BTAS Batman, Nightwing & Batgirl today BTAS Batman - Overall a pretty good interpretation of the animated style design with some nice accessories but there are two major issues - 1. he cant more his arms very much due to the cape over his shoulders (a problem also faced with some of the DC Collectibles Animated figures) 2. He's very top heavy so getting him to stand is challenging Nightwing - Very good sculpt and poseability, however the figure is marred by having what seems like rubber underwear on the outside of his suit! Also I wish we could get more accessories (alternate head or hands, grapple gun etc) rather than the BAF Batmobile which just raised the price of Nightwing for something I have no interest in Batgirl - my favourite of the 3 figures I bought, great scuplt on the figure and nice to get a new costume for her. Like Nightwing I wish we had gotten more accessories (particularly a normal cape rather than having her with the always windswept cape) compared to the BAF Batmobile Overall they mostly seem like fine figures (barring the issues I mentioned) but I dont think I will be collecting them all mainly due to general RL costs cutting into my overall collecting as well as running low on space for storing figs |
