The Sentinel parts were exciting. Another figure that's 90% re-used parts is not. I mean at least that shouldn't have been the final reveal if they were going to have it as a stretch goal. Probably should've done the more exciting parts of the figure we're actually buying last. I honestly don't care for any 6" figure they include with this. I want Sentinel parts, that's what I'm spending $350 on.

I love the figure and what it is, I love the extra parts, the 6" figures pretty much mean nothing to me except they might take $20 off the price tag when I sell them.

Everybody relax, we're all getting chicken.

Next tier please be in-home Swedish massage from Dwight.

Imho you'd probably get at least $100 for the figures alone right off the bat. Dorkside or someone already had them at $150 I heard.

WoW!!!! This sale is killing it with 10,118 pieces have been sold! Now im excited! I am on the fence though...was going to get 3. One as Master Mold, One regular and one damaged. But now i thinking, if i get 3, might as well get 5, right? if this is anything like other has labs, like the Sail Barge...it started at 499.99 and now is in between 1600 to 3,000, depending on box it seems. That would put these (given a year or so) at around 1,400. I dont think they would go this high, but you never know.

I doubt these will go anywhere near that price. Unlike the sail barge, there have been plenty of Sentinel toys since the 1990's and will probably have several more in the future. It's a popular adversary to the X-Men. Also, you have many people ordering multiples. Eventually, the odds are strong 2-4 of these will go on the mark, further watering down the price. They MIGHT increase over time, but I don't think it'll be past $1k.

It will go up over time, everything does, but I doubt you'll see it jump up like the Sail Barge.

But I think that happened because less people gave the HasLab idea much thought that first time and many missed out, as well as I also think there's likely a disconnect for what people are selling them for second hand on eBay versus what people are actually spending to buy them.

I do have to say that I did buy the BAB Jumbo Snorlax that was on their site exclusively, which was a $100, but that paid for itself when I got rid of the first version of the BAB Snorlax.

Agree with this, Sail Barge and even Unicron will jump in price due to the limits of how many were made...Sentinel on the other hand not so, just by looking at the amount of it.

Comedian 07-14-2020 05:54 PM

I’m still shocked by the after market price of the sail barge. That really was a once in a life-time moment. The sentinel is such an awesome army builder, it’s almost like 3 of these equal a barge. You have to have more than one sentinel. At least that’s my rational for wanting to order 3 of these. Lol.

Yeah I was curious about that, it's why I went ahead and ordered even though I was going to wait till almost the end of the deadline.

Yeah they won't, I online chatted with a Pulse member and they said it shouldn't.

Also keep in mind I'm sure sites like BBTS are funding this as well. Not just individual folks like us.

To me, the term scalper can't apply in this case. As far as we know, these are being made to order. Currently an unlimited supply exists as there are an unlimited amount of pre-orders being taken (though this could change, I doubt it). Buy 5 of these and selling them later does nothing to affect anyone else's chance of owning one so there is no scalping being down.

People buying multiples whether or not they plan to resell any of them, are helping the hobby by forcing hasbro to produce more units of this which will lead to more of the units being circulated within the hobby later on. The ordering period ends in a few weeks. How many collectors who can't afford it now, will be able to afford it afterwards? How many new collectors will join the hobby after the end of next month that will want to acquire one or more of these?

Also, a lot of “nerds” work in essential services (IT, programming, and other services that are related to the conversion to working at home), meaning not as many are furloughed or laid off.

One thing people fail to take into account, is that some collectors are poorer than others.

...Obviously collecting toys as an investment is stupid... but that is one of the rare instances where you could actually double your money and the price is only going to continue to climb..

Yeah, I'm not so sure about all this.

lordbest 07-15-2020 07:46 AM

For any other Australians here, The Little Toy Company has the Sentinel for $699 with the pre-order opening once the campaign is completed

So? They don't buy a Sentinel then. What's that got to do with anything?

Sorry, but toys aren't a social service anyone is due. It's really cut and dry... you have the money, you get the toy. You don't have the money, you pass on the toy. Hasbro is under no obligation to make sure every fan who wants one can get one.

I'd love 3, but really may stretch myself to order 2. I just don't wanna drop $1000 and not have anything in hand for a long while. And then the space for 3? lol

I'm struggling what I'll do with 2, but it'll make the display so much better.

For those in the UK & Europe Zavvi apparently are going to stock the Sentinel, details including price will be revealed tomorrow...

Okay, an honest question here. Do we know that the new unlocked Tiers are thrown in for FREE? Because I've been in crowd funding projects which new Tiers are unlocked so you can BUY the unlocked items.

I have not read all the fine prints, maybe I've missed it where it says all the new Tiers are free.

TAAO 07-16-2020 12:58 PM

Anyone else notice that Haslab has changed their wording on the tiers? Initially they stated that for every 1000 backers a new tier would be unlocked. Now it reads that a new tier would be unlocked up to 9000 backers. So I'm guessing they kind of didn't expect it to sell as quickly as it did?

I would assume the $350 covers unlocked items since no other pricing is listed. It would be a pretty shitty move to tack on additional costs after the goals are reached.

Yeah they're 100% free with the figure.

I think they changed that almost immediately or they just didn't include the 9000 backer limit. They probably didn't think it'd clear everything in 3 days thought lol.

Even then I still see people offering up sail barges in collector groups for $1000-$1200 regularly.

Someone said they base their Sentinel height on the cartoon series and you know what, that is probably the best way to go about it.

There have been sentinels of varying heights for decades. Not just the animated series, which isn't consistent either. There have been plenty of sentinels in the comics much larger than 20 feet.

Yay! More time for the Sentinel's improvement!!! Even more items to come as well. Like to see a retail version. Kohl's, Best But, so forth. Hopefullyy this does well to help a retail re-release with this version,

So I see we're getting a second 18" tentacle. Would anyone rather have had a few blast effects, such as optic blasts, instead?

Instead? Sure, but that doesn't seem to be an option since it'd require new molding etc., so I'm glad they're throwing in the extra tentacle for free. I'm expecting plenty of 3rd party/custom add ons for this thing like blast effects and stuff.
