While I see what you're thinking, I'm not so sure. Blue Devil has been in animation before. He was in JLU, I think he's been in BatB, and I'm almost positive I've seen him cameo even in this show. Gemme a few minutes and I'll find the Young Justice wiki, and look it up.

Also, in Teen Titans, they kept Raven's demonic origins largely intact. And they did some pretty dark things with her there. Kid Devil's nowhere near as dark or demonic as she. Though, I know you're thinking more about name and appearance

Edit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Devil
Yep, he was in JLU and YJ.
Quote:

Blue Devil appeared in a few episodes of Justice League Unlimited. He mostly serving as a background character with non-speaking cameo appearances. He only spoke in the series finale episode "Destroyer", where he had one line to yell for everyone to go to the Javelins.
Blue Devil makes a non-speaking cameo appearance in the Young Justice episode "Revelation". He is shown helping the Flash and Captain Atom prevent a nuclear meltdown caused by gigantic moving plants. In "Agendas," Blue Devil is considered for membership in the Justice League. The suggestion ends up being passed over.

Kid Devil was kinda in the episode with the circus

[QUOTE=Crazy Jetty;280486]The cast shake-up is going to take some getting used to. I think I would have preferred a major shakeup like this at the start of season three. I felt we had just really started to get to know the cast we had.
Add a few more characters, and set up a few more for the following season.
But we'd done all this character building in the first season, and now we're onto new characters with a new dynamic. Would have been nice to enjoy seeing how the previous developments had evolved, first.

I still don't understand the Rocket hate.

I don't like her because they gave her stereotypical black chic voice and I know a lot of black chicks and they don't speak that way

Now in Season 2, the new Robin is Tim Drake. They way he's treated kind of alludes to there having been another Robin during the 5 year gap. That's up in the air for speculation. Otherwise, just know that current Robin using bo staff is Tim Drake.

I hope they explain what happened between Connor & M'gann. Watching the episode again you can tell he was irked upon seeing her and Lagoon Boy together.

I still don't understand the Rocket hate. She hasn't done anything worth hating her for. Of course, she also hasn't done anything that makes her exceptionally likable. She just hasn't done anything. I guess I'm just more neutral when it comes to new characters, until they earn my like, or hate.
But, I don't particularly like Lagoon Boy yet. I think I'd have rather Aquagirl, or Beast Boy to fill his "Aquatic character" role. Or use Kid Devil if they wanted another "Freak."

And this is kind of why I didn't really care for the time jump. Like Jetty said would have been great to see the development of these characters in Season 2, instead of a fast forward.

bmorr 04-30-2012 05:43 AM

did anyone notice the introduction of adam strange?

Iceman 04-30-2012 08:21 AM

I get what you're saying. Not giving something a chance before judgement is lame. I had never heard of Icon but he seems really generic. Flight, strength, durability, etc. One thing that always annoyed me with DC is how many heroes just automatically get flight as a power. No need for wings or tech they just fly. In Marvel flight feels more valuable because it is less common. Also, DC characters seem to be able to a super-punch better.

I could see where in a show like this his presence is generic but his backstory is kind of cool check it out here: ICON

After reading up about Icon then leading off over to Rocket, I kind of like both characters a bit now. I actually want to read more about the two.

Yeah the blue guy right? Unless that's blue devil, course I'm thinking of the episode with Dr.Fate and Captain Marvel.

This, plus she was rushed.

Am I the only one who would've preferred a lead in episode? I think it was a bit jarring to deal with this all at once.

This would've confused the hell outta me as a kid. Like switching between G1 and G2 transformers without seeing the movie.

xhavoc86 04-30-2012 12:32 PM

There's five more members on the team that we're unaware of!

Just like the Justice League designation numbers (two of which are unaccounted for), there is an unaccounted (at least) five members we don't know off (who possibly joined/quit during the time gap)

The original season 1 members makes up the 1-9, and the current highest designation number is 22 (Lagoon Boy), and season 2 only introduced 8 new members (Wonder Girl, Blue Beetle, Bumblebee, Mal Duncan, Tim Drake, Beast Boy, Batgirl, Lagoon Boy), which totals 17... Lagoon boy is B22, so there is at least five members unaccounted for.

The Young Justice Leagacy site (a video game that takes place during the five year time gap) suggests that Tempest (Garth) was an active member at the time. If he was a member, i would bet that Tula was as well... Arrowette/Secret/Flamebird also made cameos in season 1, could they be the other five?

Unless you're speaking about the comics, in which case it was made extremely clear G2 picked up several years after #80 of the original run, your statement here is confusing.
G2 never had a cartoon. It was just repackaging a hand full of episodes from the original cartoon. Don't even think they used post movie eps.
So, not sure how the jump between g1 and g2 would be confusing for any fan who was around for when G2 started up in '93.
Now a days though, it seems to cunfuse the hell out of a lot of people, I'll admit.

Unless you're talking about Season 3. That's absolutely not G2.
G1 began in 1984 and concluded in 1991. G2 began in '93, and ended in '95, when Beast Wars began.

Iceman 04-30-2012 02:20 PM

I never knew that. I always thought the movie was the end of G1 as they changed so much.

Also, Mal Duncan didn't really see any action. What is his role in the comics?

bmorr 04-30-2012 02:52 PM

who the hecks mal duncan?

MegaPrime33 04-30-2012 03:30 PM

I was confused as to what the hell was going on. It would have been nice to say at the beginning, "5 years later...."

LXL_Guy 04-30-2012 07:37 PM

I've come to accept it and will watch as it all unfolds. I mean even with season 1 I didn't know much bout that team since different incarnation. So...I'll gladly accept this current line up and see how they flesh them out throughout the season.

I can also accept the ebonics speech from Rocket too since her back story pretty much explains it. I don't need a TV series to tell me as I'll gladly look it up if I want to know more.

Anyhow, would any one else like to see Artemis be a villain like her comic counterpart?

They did!!! After the recap from Auld Acquaintance with the missing 16 years, Superboy and the new team were fighting Clayface, and they won, they posted the timestamp (that usually do to identify the time and date) and it gave the time and date (which might i add contain the mysterious recurring number 16 times 2) and it said "Five Years Later"

Regarding Artemis role in the New 52...well... this might be a spoiler...so click at your own risk!!! SPOILER Image.

Heck ya on Marvel super heroes being able to fly...makes it more reasonable.

So he's an alien, cool. Seems like half of the DC characters are aliens or something of that nature.

So explination wil come in due time.

I actually think Blue Beetle's costume is actually a symbiote, after watching this last episode. If you see how he talks to himself, it's more like he's talking to the costume, especially when he was able to translate and understand the aliens they were fighting.

Over all though, will be interesting to see this show now, seems like there's too many member's now, and won't build much into character development.

I grew up to generation two, I meant the generation two with rodimus. I hated missing story parts as a kid, and if I just happened to miss a few episodes, only to come back and find that all my favorite transformers were missing, I'd have been confused.

bmorr 05-01-2012 12:36 PM

so your talking about the 1986 season right? generation 2 was a comic, but hot rod was in it tho.

Ya if I would have seen that when I was a kid, I would have been confused just as well. Glad I watched them back to back.

Beetle's suit is a sentient alien device that looks like a scarab beetle. I'm aware.
I was commenting on the show, that him talking to himself without explination is part of the joke, one that the other characters are not in on, and explinations will come in due time. Because someone was wondering why they didn't explain it up front (I think).

Then you're completely mistaken, because if you're referring to the third season of the cartoon (A very bad cartoon at that), with Rodimus and Galvatron, that absolutely was not Generation Two. That predates G2 by six years.
That was still very much the original transformers, the original cartoon, and the original toyline.
Generation 2 never had a true cartoon, Hotrod never had a toy, and was only a minor character in the comic, and was a direct continuation from the Marvel Transformers.

Picture if you will transformers one of the better episodes like the dam battle. Then follow that up with transformers episode with rodimus prime, and most of the regular transformers you were familiar with, suddenly gone.

It's bound to be jarring.

I used to get confused when I missed an episode of any story as a kid.

But most of those shows had episodes that were self-contained other than minor details. Yes, if you missed the introduction of a new character it might be confusing but they didn't have a lot of multi-episode stories.

Also, the G1 cartoon was great for it's time. And all the little foul ups and bad writing just gave it character.

I never said it wasn't. I don't care about that. It has nothing to do with anything I've said. You called the third season of the G1 cartoon "G2." It isn't. Then you called it that again, while in the same post claiming you grew up with G2.
I was correcting your misunderstanding.

I grew up with G2 the series, but I was referring to the second generation of transformers. It's a bit confusing, to say the least but I think we're on the same page.

Bottom line is, the time skip could've been handled better.
