She restored him- eliminating the technovirus from his body, so he should be like a good version of Stryfe now- crazy powerful and Jean and Scott's son.

I almost picked that story up, but than passed and just read the main FI book. Was ok, but ya so happy that I passed.

Maybe in the end the Marvel Editorial staff with swear on their souls and sign in blood not to touch the Phoenix plot for a couple decades at least and learn to make characters act like they are supposed to.

I just wish it would get done with. I am liking what I am reading but I find it weird that the X-Men team is as large as it is but the Avengers aren't anywhere near the same size. If they pull out these are X-Men because they are attached there are many more Avengers possible. I am sure Sue could have talked to Namor and that fight would have been stopped. Also why aren't there any Shield agents helping the fight, Cap does lead them. He also could call up some of the Initiative people. I imagine that some would love the work. I don't like Scott but I think he and Cap could have worked something out. Of course then it would be a short series. Looking from here still I can't imagine that feelings will be easily fixed and smoothed over.


Maybe they could just get Wanda to erase it.

I agree I am on round 4, and battle book 2, and it feels like the same exact comic over and over again, here we are, we are fighting, here we are we are fighting...wait theres hope, we are fighting, iron fist and thor might be the key...we are fighting in tabula rasa, we are at it again...spoiler ALERT!!! Jimmy olsen assumes phonix force, and finally lands a chick with his new powers...story over...

I should have known better. This story line is so boring. It's pretty much repeating itself here and there.

Marvel is seriously king of the 'great premise/lousy execution' event, but then, DC might have the opposite problem...

I was thinking whichever side Wolverine was on was going to win but after reading this I don't even know which side he is on and this sounds like another convoluted ass storyline with cool covers. WTF.

i have a feeling that scott is not going to make it. Marvel had the cahonjes to kill Captain America theoretically TWICE, i don't see why Cyclops wouldn't be off the table. Or they go the other way and bring Jean back from the dead along with a bunch of obscure mutants.

I am a big captain america fan but it seems ridiculous how he's just running through the x-men. Am i the only one who's noticed that?

Haven't read any of the event yet but I find it hard to believe Cyclops would be gone from the mutant community for any long period of time, considering what they have built him up to be. Maybe he gets locked up or killed off but for a short time. I'm surprised Jean has stayed dead as long as she has but the Cyclops/Emma thing seems to have stuck. I do hate when they kill characters only to have them return within a year (in comic time that is like a month usually).

He had help with Wolverine though. I think Wolverine was gonna take him before Pym showed up and kicked him out of the plane. I was thinking the same thing though, you think one of those guys would have beaten him.

FINALLY, after my rant above one of the books finally ends the madness of Wolverine's recent behavior and the character development that Jason Aaron has been working on all this time remains intact. WatXM #11 was a good read and shows what led to him alerting Cap even though he just fought him over feeling the need to kill hope.

Further proof that the main storyline is lacking in comparison to its tie-in's and that this book will likely read a whole lot better in its collected form then just attempting to follow the main storylines. The best comparison I have would be Blackest night, not in terms of quality (for blackest night was a far superior event IMO), but in terms of cohesiveness. The main storylines of blackest night left all sorts of wtf just happened and where did he just come from moments that made me hate it...until I read all the other tie-in's that brought it all together. I still hate that you have to get all those other books just to enjoy the damn story, but it appears that AvX is following that very same formula as I have so far thoroughly enjoyed the event so far when considering the tie in storylines that have I've integrated.

So Wolvy is with team X right? Haven't picked up any of the past 2 weeks of this story yet...probably do so just to see what's a miss.

No. He just realized they call him "the best there is at what he does..." but what he doesn't do is kill kids.

Otherwise it appears he trusts Cap and respects him a hell of a lot more than he does Cyke at the moment. Which I can't say i disagree with, personally.

so for those who read the x books what happened in WOTXM #11 and x men legacy #267? woooo 2 book pull this week!

nope no delay. its one of those small output weeks too.

I don't collect legacy. But here's what happened in WatXM #11:

Kid gladiator is drugged and abducted by his guardian in an attempt to flee the earth from the impending doom the Phoenix is expected to bring. Kid gladiator sees this fight as too big for him to miss and probably thinks it a proving grounds of sorts, so he breaks free and heads back to Earth to join the fight against the Avengers and is later seen punching Red Hulk in the face during flight.

There are multiple panels that show the various fights taking place between the A&X. Among them, Dr. Strange vs Magneto and Iron Fist vs Rachel Grey, however, the one fight that occurs that has me excited for the entirety of it during the next AvX: VS is Red Hulk vs Iceman. Its a surprisingly more even fight then you might think now that Iceman is seemingly about as strong now as the AoA version of him was.

The meat of this issue, though, focuses on Wolverine and Hope on their way to an AIM facility where they could jack a spacecraft to get them to the moon. During the blackbird flight Wolvie has flashbacks of Jean as the Phoenix begging him to kill her and him not being able to do it. He questions what he's even doing with Hope now and in general. Comments about how he's supposed to be there because he's the only one who can kill her if things go bad. Says he's supposedly "the best there is..." but since when did that involve killing kids?

Its then that they're shot down and attacked by Shi'ar Death Commandos. Hope borrows Wolverine's healing ability to survive the crash and then pops claws of her own to fight the commandos alongside wolverine. Wolverine reminds her that they've trained all their lives to kill and she reminds him she's been trained all her life to survive. They hold their own pretty well up until the Skrull commando impales and then guts hope while wolvie is being devoured alive by flesh eating bugs courtesy of the death Commando "Colony".

Then Hope goes Phoenix rage on everyone at which point Wolvie recovers and notices the dark Phoenix grin on hope while she takes out the death commandos and his claws pop ready to take her out. Then he flashes back again and sees Jean again pleading for him to kill her. Hope disengages the Phoenix power and reasons that the Phoenix must be close since her flare ups are getting stronger and asserts they should get to the moon soon.

SPOILER: the following is Wolverine's internal monologue exactly as it was written in this issue. If you want to read it yourself in this issue or in the collected book please skip the next few paragraphs.

Wolverines claws retract and the following internal monologue is spread out across several pages through multiple panels filled with various AvX fight scenes:

"Time to face facts...I'll never be able to do it. I'll never be able to kill her. No matter what. Its not just because she reminds me of Jean. Other than the hair she really doesn't. Jean was the most amazing woman I ever met. I look at Hope... and all I see is a kid. There was a time I could kill pretty much anyone anywhere for any reason at all. Bit that time's gone. "

"Even if it's to save the world, how could i go back to my school and face the kids there, with Hope's blood on my hands? How could i face myself? That ain't what I been fighting for. That ain't who I am. I'm Wolverine. Best there is at what I do. I'm the guy you call when there's somebody needs a good stabbing. But I ain't the guy who kills kids. I'm the guy who saves them."

Following that monologue Gladiator shows up to the Jean Grey school pissed demanding his son. End issue.

Cool can't wait to get it, but I thought he gave Hope up to Cap, what happened there?
