Finally opened up my other TMNT Z-Line set and incorporated it into my display. Thought I'd share a couple of pics, attached below.
I planned on painting it a little, mostly to make the pipework and gutters noticeable, but also to make it fit in better with the lower half which I threw together fairly quickly from other stuff I had... but I ended up focusing on getting the thing to just stay on the wall. The first z-line platform stayed on the wall no problem with the original command strips. This one, however... let's just say that I momentarily thought my Injustice Deathstroke and Green Arrow had met an untimely demise. Put it back up with replacement strips, and it fell again. Poor Two-Face there has gone for a wild both times so far. So, I cleared the "danger zone" below of the more fragile figures and put it back up a third time, this time using a TON of Quakehold putty on the backside in addition to the adhesive strips. I also added Quakehold to the first Z-Line because I am now fairly paranoid about these things. I may be making my own similar platforms out of foam pretty soon. As much as I've been dying to get that massive billboard z-line, I think keeping that beast on the wall (and overhead of so many tiny action figures!) might be worth avoiding. Something made of lightweight foam would be a whole lot less risky, and I'd still have new elevations to display upcoming characters. |
I don't do DC in this scale, but I did see my Walmart had an end display with two box/shelf things full of the new Arkham Knight based figures. Didn't do the math on spot but each box seemed to have around 30 or so figures making it around 60ish total. So far none of these new figures seem rare to me. Happy hunting.

^ I like these DC figs better than the DCUC and definitely more that the total hero figs.

Hopefully all these newly listed characters get shown at NYCC.

The new listings are certainley interesting, if a tad confusing. I kinda wish they would do another wave of non-Arkham figures just so a friend of mine won't bitch about Mattel not focussing on the shit he says he wants, but will never buy.

depending on how Knight W1 does have W2's assortment have the Knight essentials* available in late spring/summer. *obviously Batman again but much less per case, Arkham Knight will be in and whoever else is very important ingame if already done could use a slight refresh. Late summer/fall a new live action wave, Arrow/Flash maybe. |
I would like a TV version of Slade and his side chick, the count vertigo and arrow green and red.
|
Also arrow version of th
e suicide squad with waller would be kool too |
I hadn't thought of any Suicide Squad members being made in action figure form. That'd definitely be sweet. I'm much more likely to buy an Arrow version of Deadshot instead of the AO winter coat version.
Mattel will definitely have a pretty good selection of characters to choose from pretty quickly. In addition to the already established Arrow recurring cast, Flash is getting versions of the Rogues and even Firestorm just in its first season. Personally, my wishlist for an Arrow wave looks something like this: Green Arrow (season 2, with mask) Deathstroke (island version) Nyssa Al Ghul (she'd even make a good stand-in for Talia) or LoA ninja (army builder!) Brother Blood or Brother Cyrus AKA Grundy (tied for me, despite Blood's importance) Canary Honorable mentions: Huntress, Arsenal, Diggle (dude needs a costume PRONTO to improve his odds of getting an action figure!) |

Forgot to mention that I'd even buy a William Tockman action figure. Apparently he's crossing over into the Flash tv series, so he's a somewhat notable character. Robert Knepper is a great actor as well.
Anyhoo, opened up Red Hood and Scarecrow. I like Scarecrow a lot, don't even think I'll touch up the paint on his face like I originally planned. Made him a flight stand, gave him a ROC Cobra Commander syringe, and pitted him against Hood. Red Hood himself is okay. Tried several methods of removing his closed fist, but it wouldn't budge and I was afraid of the peg tearing. Guess he'll roll with one handgun. If I find another one locally, I'll probably attempt a more comic-style custom. |
One worry I have with Arrow/Flash figures would be scale, technically they should go with the movie stuff but i'd prefer they fit with Arkham.
especially with Green Arrow being able to borrow Deadshot & Deathstroke until they do Arrow versions. Arkham Batmen could borrow the Dark Archer, Ra's, Nyssa, Ravager, Katana, etc. Arkham and Arrow work a little better together design wise than with the movies imo. |

You're right, though. The modern live-action designs won't fit in too well with Keaton Bats or Reeve Superman. |
Anyone have a pic of Injustice Catwoman with Multiverse Batman?

Origins Batman imo looks like he would fit into Arrow's world perfectly. Same with Deadshot, its not so overdone to a movie or comic style that it works with Arrow's as well. Scale is a big problem but maybe they should keep modern stuff in the Arkham scale. TDK, GL, MOS, IH, DCC GL and DCC Injustice were all around that scale so hopefully Mattel stays close. Though I still want more classics(Carter Wonder Woman, Joker) in the Keaton Batman scale. |
I hope we see scaled down '66 Batman figures!

Assuming they indeed delve into tv series, Carter Wonder Woman and John Wesley Shipp Flash would both be good options. Never watched the WW show myself, but villains-wise the Flash series has Captain Cold and Trickster (Mark Hamil, no less!) as decent choices for an accompanying baddie. Quote:

Since they're introducing Ray Palmer into Arrow I hope we get to see The Atom.

With the current and next waves being Arkham themed, I'm wondering what Mattel will be doing after them. I can't imagine they had enough Arkham figures in the works to make it to they inevitable hype that will surround the new game. They obviously weren't prepared for such a long delay of the game's release. I just hope this doesn't somehow kill the line.

Im expecting to see at least one wave of tv inspired figures. Dc will have 5 shows running at the same time? Arrow, Gotham, Flash, Constantine and Supergirl.
To ignore the tv properties completely seems foolish. |
I believe the press release about their continued DC licensing heavily hinted at a set of Arrow figures being in the works. That said, Mattel isn't the brightest in the bunch, so ignoring a good opportunity wouldn't surprise me.
Also, once Supergirl starts up, and assuming the others are still going on, they'll actually have six DC shows running. Don't forget iZombie. I just hope the delay in the game's release doesn't screw over Mattel's plans for the line. They don't need any help in branding something DC related as a "failure". |
