If I had to narrow it down to one Marvel Legend in particular, that award definitely goes to the Spider-Man 3 Movie Sandman figure. The sculpt is nice, and bears a really good resemblance to Thomas Hayden Church, but the leg articulation on the figure is utter garbage, due to its awful hip design straight out of the early days of Toybiz. You can't kick his leg forward, or even have him stepping forward, without turning the whole thing 90 degrees. It's awful.

Second place goes to the Spider-Man classics Scorpion Venom. He looked cool in the package, and I was excited to have a Mac Gargan version of Venom, but once I got him out of the package, I realized I spent ten bucks on essentially a Venom paperweight. One of the few figures I actually have gotten rid of.

Honorable mention goes to the non Legends Pacific Rim line of figures. Peruse a NECA thread one day whenever a new one comes out, and you will more than likely find me bitching about it, usually because they tend to break or have some sort of QC issue straight out of the package. And yet, I still continue to buy them because I'm simply a huge fan of the film and the franchise. I'm a sucker.

Thanks man i might try and see if i can fix my ant man. Luckily I didn't pick up that Sandman cuz i hated that movie especially when he turned into emo peter parker that was shit lol. Thats what Dtl and I were talking about straight out of package without even trying to move a joint just taking him out my Neca 7" Christopher Reeves superman' hand completely broke and So did Dtl's superman Arm they use the weakest joints on some of their figures, I haven't had a problem with Neca's 7" Heath Ledger Joker yet.

No, like Trivial Psychic said you just need a sharp blade and some paint. It looks like Trivial might have went a step further and repainted the whole head, the eyes look more red than the Hasbro production version. I just matched the rest of the head as well as I could.

Yeah I know thanks I'm going to attempt to fix mine. It looks really nice

...What I will do when painting, is make a rough shape or line with the contrasting color, and then paint over the excess and clean it up with the base color (in this case, painting it green first, and then cleaning up the edges with black paint.) I've found it to be much easier, rather than trying to get it perfect when painting it the first time. It was a mostly trial and error process that managed to come out mostly symmetrical.

I completely understand about the faces. Trying to paint eyes is not fun. My concern with any skin elements is matching skin tone. That is the biggest reason why the Punisher I am very slowly working on has a full shirt instead of painting part of the arms to create a T-shirt look.

Damn, Rogue is even more impressive to me now. You did a superb job free handing that! I also totally agree about cleaning up with the black. I did the same with my Deadpool. It makes it SO much easier than trying to paint within the confines of what you want the final result to be. It actually surprises me that it is rarely if ever mentioned in tutorials.

Well it arrived today:

Some figure are cool, some are meh.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psrcqauxrw.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35ou2abb.jpg

Abomination is awesome, love the color because it is accurate to the comics I have read with him comparing to the lighter green one that is coming out in the Cap wave. Unfortunately, mine has some pretty loose legs. I do wish his hands came in fists though, but still cool nonetheless. Now I don't have to worry about buying the entire next wave since I really only want two figures out of it.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psoa18muua.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psze39p4ho.jpg

Enchantress rocks!! She is pretty much Scarlet Witch but with a new head. Unfortunately, unlike SW, she can't stand for crap thanks to her not having a cape. The fact sculpt is pretty good, but the paint job could have been a bit better, at least when you look at her close up. I love the shiny green paint.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psdjkvexmz.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6dvb1xhj.jpg

Purple Man is my favorite of the set. Sure, he is the Chameleon/Coulson body, but the paint job is great and the face is wonderful. So happy to add him to my collection, especially after seeing how Tennant played him in JJ.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2x5cnosu.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9hsh0uww.jpg

Now here is where the set gets a little bit mucky. Sandman makes a nice substitute until they do a regular one, but he doesn't really look like he is in sand mode considering how smooth he is. Would it have killed Hasbro to have at least used the alternate arms from Absorbing Man that had texturing on them? The headsculpt is great for this version of Sandman and the details for the hair are wonderful, but I really hope the regular version they will end up doing (even though he will be way too tall) won't have it since it will look like he is constipated.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psp5bkm53z.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pstcvtppv2.jpg

Dreadknight is probably my least favorite of the set. Not because the sculpt isn't cool, but because I know nothing of this character other than he fights Iron Man. The paint apps are absolutely fantastic though and I love the blue they used for his arms and legs. The boots would go perfect with a Cockrum/Byrne Cyclops. I love that his wrist joint allows his hand to move vertically as opposed to horizontally like they normally do. Deadpool could have really benefitted from this.

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psackiyjpi.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pstigojiel.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psrnndk700.jpg

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0tduda4f.jpg

Spider-Man is uh... well, I don't know. It's just the pizza Spidey body with the Scarlet Spidey head. Sure, his hips can move farther out than Pizza Spidey, but the blue is darker than I'd like and the lack of additional hands really kills it. Oddly enough, the Ben Reiley hands can fit, but not the regular hands unless you go for the smaller Ultimate version's hands.

Oh, and even though I didn't really do any pics of him, Black Panther is cool but he can't stand for ****. Hell, I had an easier time getting Enchantress to stand compared to him.

I recommend using a dremel or some sandpaper to adjust his wrist peg so you can use pizza spidey hands. it makes this figure much better

I think both characters have a great shot of being released soon. Monica's digital sculpt was revealed at the SDCC panel, and I vaguely remember a youtuber at SDCC mentioning the rumor of a Blue Marvel figure. Monica and Blue Marvel are also both members of the new Ultimates series, which I've heard is getting a lot of praise. I'm definitely gonna have to check it out.

Well, the hands can be crammed in there and it will just warp the inside over time, but then I wouldn't be able to sell him if I want to.

I like that his hips can move out farther, but I just don't like how dark the blue is. Spider-Man is supposed to be a lighter blue.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered but I missed it somehow. Saw this figure on ebay from China. Looks exactly like Paul Bettany. Did this come out or is it coming soon?
Thanks,

Yeah I don't blame you. Only reason I went ahead and did it is because I had to buy a replacement one since the webbing on my original one was all janky and it had other weird QC issues.

As far as the blue goes, I believe this figure is based off of Todd McFarlane's artwork, and Spidey's costume had a tendency to be a darker blue:

I don't know, the eyes don't match the McFarlane design.

I initially thought it was McFarlane-esqe when I first saw it...but the more and more I look at it, I think the Raft Spidey more closely resembles Erik Larsen's 90's work. The darker colors and spider design on the back are what says Larsen to me...

It's not perfect, since they're using the Scarlet Spidey head, but one signature of McFarlane is that the corners of the eyes where they meet the middle of the mask have this little sharp point, which the figure has. Plus if you look at the spider emblem on the front of figure, it's exactly the same as it is on the McFarlane design.

warmachine6 08-17-2016 04:59 AM

looking at the 'exclusive' SDCC set you have a set figures which are well more or less going to be re-released , i suppose they are unique as repaints but as far as i can tell we might get these

Abomination BAF, from Captain america wave
Enchantress, from Dr.Strange Wave
Original form Sandman, BAF for new spidey wave, this seems likely
Light Blue Mc Farlane spidey, in his new wave.
Purple man, well due to the NetFlix series being released, he might be re-released with alt head with david tennant likeness

Dread Knight is likely to be the rarest one, cant see him being re-released

K Dubious 08-17-2016 07:16 AM

Dread Knight was the only one I wanted as I am trying to recreate the 5" Toybiz lines from Ironman and Spider-Man. Glad I just got him and not the entire set.

My X-Men showed up from EE and they are awesome. I gotta find a bit of space to put a couple more in there...

http://i.imgur.com/bOa7xb3.jpg

Also I'm not sure if I missed these being discussed at some point, but what are these?

Marvel Captain America Civil War Vision PVC Action Figure Collectible Model Toy | eBay

Marvel Captain America Civil War Hawkeye PVC Action Figure Collectible Model Toy | eBay

Marvel Captain America Civil War Giant Man PVC Action Figure Collectible Model | eBay

I'm not expecting much, but for less than $15 I pulled the trigger on that vision. Anyone know where these bootlegs came from? They are listed as 17cm which is like 6.5in. I hope they are legends, but could be selects??

Has anyone seen the Falcon or Winter Soldier exclusives in the Chicago area yet?

I ordered the Vision figure since, depending on if it at least has decent quality plastic to work with, I know I can mod it down to scale with Legends figures (which I do all the time with WWE elites and other bigger lines). I'm sure one day Hasbro will bust out an official version of him, but this guy looks like a workable substitute in the meantime.

Wht's funny is I was actually comparing the Pizza and SDCC Spidey to my collections and neither of them match up perfectly with any version, but yeah, the SDCC one does seem to match up closest with the Larsen one.

True, but the McFarlane eyes have a thicker black outline before the whites. This one has a really thin black outline.

On the other hand, McFarlane's Spidey doesn't seem to stop the webbing in the chest around the spider logo like everyone else tends to do so.

Dreadknight is open enough to make it into any way. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Purple Man in a Spider-Man or X-Men wave while Dreadknight will probably be in something next year.

That looks a little cramped, and yet, it looks pretty cool. I kind of wish I had gotten Magneto, but then I see reviews on the emblem on his helmet looks uneven, so he looks kind of goofy.

Very true. I think that's the result of them using the Scarley Spidey head, which doesn't have eyes nearly large enough for that black outline.

Maybe Hasbro just took bits and pieces from different Spider-Man artists for that figure, because that spider symbol is definitely McFarlane but other parts of the figure have certain aspects from Larsen's work.

donmeca2020 08-17-2016 08:59 AM

I'm going to have to agree with the above comments, i believe the raft spidey looks kinda like Mcfarlane's spidey. i was at first skeptical but the head resembles his style significantly.
