So, wait for two more days for even more Star Wars crap to oversaturate an already drowning section and don't sweat it

I can wait, it was just that they were so rude about it. They could have at least apologized, Customer service is DEAD.

But, when they do go on sale it will be all gone by midnight. We have a lot of scalpers.

Lody666 09-28-2016 12:17 PM

Dude

NO ONE is scalping anything Star Wars related

The entire distribution is so saturated that no one in their right mind would buy anything above retail for anything offered ESP given the fact that they would have to wait for the mere restocking to get whatever it is they want

Maybe not up in Boston but down here in Texas distribution is either slow or just plain minimal and scalpers love to take advantage. If it's not scalpers then it's competing with other consumers, my local Walmart only got about three of the black series Ahsoka wave case and I only got my Ahsoka figure because I was the guy who opened one of those cases.

Totally beat me to it Sabah. Exactly- it is very wild west here. The north usually starts getting figures about 2-3 weeks before we do here. You can tell by checking the item locations on ebay auctions to see how long it will be until you need to start the hunt. But even then it can be pretty pointless unless you are really lucky and get there at the right time. Marvel legends disappear as well as star wars almost instantly. Those are the big ones.
And to add to the frustration, Hastings is going out of business so there really are not any other places to shop other than big retail or comic shops that have to scalp to keep the lights on.

I'm in Houston gentleman and I stand by my statements
Nothing Star Wars is being scalped nor is anything difficult to find with even a modicum of effort

trowa195 09-28-2016 03:33 PM

You caught me, it was all a lie. I do that for attention. Please forgive me.

But seriously, it's awesome Houston has everything, Austin sucks so it's slim pickin's.

Houston is the 4th largest city in America, it's a mega-center of the country, so the experience in Houston is vastly different than the experience in San Antonio even. I've been at this hobby for years and speaking from experience, as always living in the area I do, it's a dry market here. I've talked to the managers and distributors (the guys from Hasbro who go store to store doing check ups or whatever it is they do) and they all give it to me that the area I live in is considered low on their priority shipping centers which is why pretty much every store here only gets one or two cases of any wave/series. Houston is up their with Chicago in population so I'd guess they consider it much more of a priority and send more there.

This used to never be a problem for Star Wars here, it wasn't until they started the 6" line that suddenly finding things became much more of a long hunt. As soon as the Black Series emerged as the "collector" figures for Star Wars it created a market where the first people at the store could buy an entire case easily which left nothing for the rest of us. I went to the flea-market not long after the 6" line kicked off and sellers would have tons of the 3.75" figures for low prices (even some rarer ones like the gold coin variant 30th ann. figures) but any one of the 6" figures would be marked up from retail (even the common figures like Leia and Greedo). It's gonna be different for everybody based on where they live, some have zero troubles whatsoever while others wait months to find the same things.

trowa195 09-28-2016 06:02 PM

Just got back from a different walmart... they had the titanium helmets set 1 and 2 on clearance. Went to check out... oh look, they have been recalled. No, walmart is just not selling any star wars items until Friday. Then the cashier try to say they are from the new movie, no. Everyone gives dumb answers just to get you to go away. They could just say the reason that they know and apologize, but they make you wait while they talk to ten other people and come back with a lame excuse.

Sorry, just venting.

I want to go back and check a large assortment of sw items to make sure they are not sellable and then fill up a cart and make that manager price check each one.

A few weeks ago, I found a 6" DC Supergirl from Target, took it to the register and it didn't ring up because it's not in the system. The manager came over, inserted the key, asked me "how much is it?", I said "$19.99", then he told the cashier "put in $12.99", then said to me "sorry for our mistake". I said "Thank you!".

Yeah, you won't get that from Walmart!

This happened to me with two separate Targets where I found the same item at each store (the Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmet pack) and when I took it to check out both times it didn't register and both times the cashier just gave them to me for $8.
I have had better customer service at my Wal-Mart though than what some of you have experienced. A couple of times now an item hasn't scanned and they'd either just ask me for a fair price to put or would just put in the bags anyway and let me have it.

I know right? I see so many people just walk out with the alarms going off and everything and they are never stopped. I have seen people scan an item at self checkout and put three additional items in their cart and nobody does anything.

This is probably the most ignorant sentence I have ever read.

You are obviously new to the collectibles world.

You have much to learn, my young padawan.

kylactus 09-29-2016 10:20 AM

Didn't Star Wars kind of invent scalping and extreme variant collecting in our hobby? I never recall a figure going up 1000% until the POTF helmet Vader. And I never recall people paying triple for a figure who's only difference was .00 or .000 printed in fine on the back until POTF.

saw the Fear the Walking Dead figures at a local Walgreens and everything else at a local Walmart or two! the batcave was $99 and comes with a Batman/Bruce Wayne figure with it! basically, Batman without the cowl and has an older look to him....gray facial hair and the like!

because they're not allowed to. Employees at most stores are not permitted to interfere with customers or take things from them, unless they ask and the customer says okay. You can get fired for it.
However, you're also on numerous cameras and there's many ways to get you later, especially when they get the plate number off your vehicle. If the store has a decent LP you'll get a visit from police PDQ.

Also, if you've seen this happen, do you report it? every theft hurts the rest of us.

Yep, I report it but they usually either do not care or do not know what to do and end up letting them go.
I used to love to catch shoplifters, especially around Christmas but nobody ever does anything. It is pretty sad actually.

Meth. Not even once.

Stopped by local TRU late Saturday and found 6 of these on the pegs. My guess is they have been sitting there for some time since they were all in the same condition or worse.
