Whoa, shit. That clayface set is rad. How's the articulation?

I was always under the impression that there were no good Superman games, but then I heard about Shadow of Apokolips. Figured it was worth a shot for $7.

same articulation as the smaller figs in the line (if you own any) minus the balljoint neck.

I enjoyed the game. Seem pretty faithful of the show. I won't spoil anything.

Lol, oh come on, The Death and Return of Superman (for SNES and Genesis) wasn't too bad, for a mindless arcade-style beat-em-up game.

How is Shadow of Apokolips ?
Weird coincidence, but I've been reading some old issues of JSA recently, and there were ads for this game throughout a lot of those issues.
I had completely forgotten that this game even existed, but after seeing the ads, and then reading the reviews for it online, my interest was peaked.

snake5289 01-24-2015 05:17 PM

It was alright but I'm still waiting for the Superman equivalent of the Arkham series. I know it can be done.

deathofthelines 01-24-2015 05:24 PM

Superman returns could have Been close had the final boss not been a tornado. Maybe a few more random street things like stopping mugging and gang shootouts and since mos didnt have a game permant mass destruction would be nice too.

snake5289 01-24-2015 06:03 PM

Superman Returns had some potential. I liked that since you're Superman and damn near nothing can stop you the amount of damage done to Metropolis was your health bar.

JangonateTK421 01-24-2015 06:28 PM

Shadow of Apokolips is pretty good. It was made even better on Gamecube as they added a mode where you can simply fly around the city and do whatever. A free roam mode.

Returns did have potential. If they had separated it from the movie (take out the cutscenes were the only thing that had anything to do with it!), give it more development time and it could have been something special. The flying mechanics were pretty great and giving the city a health bar because Superman is invincible was a nifty idea, but the graphics didn't hit the mark and the fighting mechanics were pretty frustrating.

It's tough to do Superman because of the flying. How do you give him a small space, like Arhkam, and explain why he can't leave or what not. War World? A New Krypton type setting? Make it so!

snake5289 01-24-2015 07:25 PM

It doesn't have to be a small area like Arkham Asylum. Make it open world GTA style Metropolis. You fly around stopping random crime like an armored car or a bank robbery and then you also have the big story missions taking out super-villains along the lines of Metallo and Livewire. Throw in some reporter missions as Clark Kent and you've got yourself a game.

Maybe make it where when you're Clark asking people about a villain it gives you tips on how best to approach them. Say Parasite attacked Hobs Bay you talk to a dock worker that says he saw this big purple guy suck the life out of one of his buddies. Then it gives you the tip to keep your distance and use the environment to take him out. Something along those lines.

Might not seem like much, but this is a huge weight off my chest, as my replacement parts for my defective Hot Toys Robocop finally arrived yesterday from Sideshow, thus ending an absolutely AGONIZING wait thanks to the shipping dock strike in California. While this wait soured some of the joy out of my Hot Toys Robo (and Sideshow Collectibles as well...) Sideshow was kind enough to give me the new torso, as well second and very new set of arms as well, free of charge to replace the defective pieces.

You don't hear too many compliments about customer service with companies, but I have to give credit where it's due. Sideshow was all the time very professional about getting these out to me, and while the dock strike was unfortunate and irritating, I do realize it's not their fault. I commend them for putting up with the irritated and somewhat impatient person on the other end (myself) and seeing the process through so that I could finally get to enjoy my first Hot Toys purchase...

My latest additions:

Very glad to add Viper Predator to my Predator collection!

Did my first toy trade online for this Mafex Dark Knight and was happy to pick up Superman to compliment my Greg Capullo Batman - Worlds Finest!

Thanks for the heads up deathofthelines.
Stopped by TRU and picked up basil Karlo and solomen bundy, who once scored 4 touchdowns for Polk high.

I saw the Clayface set at TRU today and was impressed by the overall work done on it, I wasn't entirely pleased with that Batman though. I don't collect DC 3.75" figures so it was a pass, but neat to see in person. I will say that it's kinda funny yet sad that this 3.75" scale big Clayface is actually way more accurate to the game than the DCC 7" scale big figure.

Odin wave has hit north Alabama. Girlfriend found remnants of a case this morning and picked me up a Thor. Only Hawkeye and Iron Fist were left. Hoping she's fibbing and she got me the rest for my birthday this weekend :)

I just saw those at Wal Mart today also in the new packaging. Dark Beaver just sounds wrong.

Loving the new packaging. Bebop was given to me by my wife at Christmas, but since then I haven't found Rocksteady.

Picked up Figuarts Injustice Joker today. Great looking figure and I'm looking forward to posing him with Bats.
