I'm not big on the Ultimate Spidey cartoon, but I do like the fanservice and seeing characters I either don't know anything about or I never though I would see in a cartoon ever. Like Cloak, Dagger, Noir, and the 2099 Spidey.

So I have a question about X-Men. Since there are no more Omnibuses for me to read at the moment from Claremont's run, when does Jean Grey return? And does Scott seriously just up and ditch Madelyne the moment she returns? If so, that is very douchey.

Oh, and while I'm at it, I've requested Inferno from the library. Is it an actual crossover story with all of the teams working together or is it like Fall of the Mutants were the X-Men were fighting some dude, the New Mutants battled another dude, and X-Factor dueled Apocalypse with nothing being related to the stories other than name?

Inferno for the most part was the book that brought the X-factor team back into the fold of X-men. They had kept Factor kinda on its own up to that point. There are some parts of Inferno that have nothing to do with anything ( I'm looking at you Excalibur and New Mutants issues (with the exception of what happens to Magik)) but overall I have always liked that story. Mostly because of Mr. Sinister ( he is my favorite x villain) and The Goblin Queen ( Madelyne).

If I remember correctly the return of Jean Grey actually happens in an issue of the Avengers, then goes to the Fantastic Four and on into X-Factor #1. It might even be mentioned in the last issue of the Defenders with Hank, Warren and Bobby, but I would have to look that up.

Yeah well it's Scott, they've made it their mission to make him unlikable to newcomers. I mean I was never a big fan of Cyclops but at a point he was their noble leader and now he's like a Magneto-level terrorist who killed Professor X.

Well what's funny is I hated Scott until these comics. These comics have shown me a new side to Scott I never saw in the 90s comics, in the movies, or the cartoons. He's been growing on me, but if he really just ditches his family to go back to Jean then he is even less of a person than I originally thought.

I haven't read an X-Men comic since 1998, so I have no idea what he is like today other than what people have told me, but I haven't experienced it for myself (not sure I really want to, honestly, as Age of Apocalypse seems like a really good stopping point).

Yeah when the real Jean returns Scott basically sneaks away from Madelyne and lil' baby Cable and he stays away from them for something along the lines of "I can't believe I fell for a clone!" It's his asshattery here which leads Madelyne to evil later and in a manner sets Cable up to be the big grump that he is. Apparently being a dick runs in the family though because Alex does some equally and much more douchey actions with his later family and then Vulcan is just a plain evil space dictator.

Honestly AoA isn't a totally terrible place to end things. A lot of the modern stuff is a mixed bag where some volumes and some series are good and worth a look at while others are head-scratching confusing with their poor plots and off beat characterizations. I'd say with any modern X-books looking at particular story arcs is better than running a whole series or volume. Of course personal tastes differ.

At least vulcan wasnt a wife stealing cheating douche. He pretty much stayed faithful to deathbird. He wasnt evil...just very aggresively ironhanded. ;)

Okay so he was an evil tyrant with principles regarding relationships, possibly the most respectful Summers brother. :D

Bought the head from that Target 3-pack Cap and gave it to the one from the Onslaught Wave. What do you guys think?

I could probably modify the head to sit a bit better on the peg since it stands up way too high unless I have his head pushed a bit forward (still doesn't look too bad though). I'd also like to give him those classic Cap wings at some point, whether that be through cannibalizing another figure or cutting them off of another Cap.

Veronica Mars 09-10-2016 01:14 PM

That's what I did too

Harbinger 09-10-2016 01:17 PM

He-Man is definitely taken aback but approves in that first picture. Congrats. I really love that this community is the type that helps one another out as opposed to solely "look what I got and you don't" type of mentality. I'm all for the "I'm so excited about what I got and hope you find it too" mentality though.

I think adam was just as suprised is all. Haha. I agree, its good to get help and to be able to help. And i tell ya i love seeing when the collectors score and beat out the scalpers. I used to hate hackers ( ya know those dirtbags who jack you id ) but lately scalpers been inching up the hatem pole. :)

Congrats on your new purchase.. now if only I can find one myself..

AvengingArcher 09-10-2016 08:10 PM

I'd held off on picking up Namor on the second hand market, just didn't want to pay more than retail when I knew he was still hitting certain Walgreens. I finally scored one yesterday afternoon at retail, and unexpectedly nabbed a Punisher to boot! I'm absolutely in love with both figures, especially Punisher. He looks awesome next to Pizza Spidey and Hobgoblin wave Daredevil.
