£12 a bitch though, considering the articulation cut

Lionheart 03-24-2015 12:00 PM

I saw the entire wave in Sainsbury's this morning. It was such an odd feeling because they never had MU in there before. They had one of each including variants.

£11.99 seems to be the standard rate for them unfortunately.

Just got back from Toy R Us and they had a massive Avengers display with the whole wave in abundance - picked up Bishop as I already had Beast, Black Cat and Sandman for chinabay :P

They had a ton of Marvel Legends too.

I REALLY hope they get the next MU wave in and this isnt just a one shot deal - that next wave is all winners for me.

Lionheart 03-24-2015 02:42 PM

Agreed. Even though the artic and paints seem worse to me, I'm still buying (especially all the Spidey villains). I'm like a junkie that's being offered bad drugs at a higher price - I'm still going to jump.

Then again, we can't rely on UK retail to get the mothercrunchers in stock, so I'll still be buying online as soon as they appear. Asda used to get MU but it was so infrequent (like, every other wave), that I just used to treat it like somewhere to pick them up only when they inevitably reduced the prices on the ones they didn't shift. But since Sainsbury's don't do much in the way of clearance stuff I won't hold my breath.

I think these guys are at retail purely because Avengers Ultron is due out, and the retailers know that will be big so they're padding the Marvel stuff they sell in lieu of the movie line figs, which will hit (as they usually do) months after the movie has opened.

I think explaining how waves work to retailers is where Hasbro really really fails, pretty much anywhere outside of North America and Asia it seems.

A toyline does well, they order absolutely shed loads in. It sits there for months. They just can not comprehend that if they maybe wait a little bit and get a different wave that they'll then get repeat custom.

Last year I saw wave 1 in quite a few places, I really don't remember seeing wave 2 anywhere outside of comic shops.

ukmu 03-24-2015 03:06 PM

I have all the X- Men that we wanted. Only the "starting line up" from the 90's cartoon. Don't do any Spidey baddies. This wave was a complete wash for us. However, seeing them in Sainsburys had to pull the trigger just to support them for carrying them! My son wanted the Dare Devil!!! Then it was between Sandman regular and Bishop. He said, " X-Men are for old people, but I will take Bishop because he looks like a guy in a track suit."

ukmu 03-24-2015 03:09 PM

Law78..... I have a mate that has a load of carded MU he wants to sell £8 each shipped for the lot. I think there are 10-12 of them. All ones you don't have yet.... Interested?

TheLongestDay 03-24-2015 03:25 PM

OooOOOooO whats he got mate I might be interested! :) PM me

ukmu 03-24-2015 04:24 PM

Mostly the past two MU waves.... Mysterious, Black Knight,Aurora,Dagger, A-Bomb types. I will get a pic tomorrow as I got to head over and pick up two reaction Freddy Kruger figures. One for the lad and another for his best mates birthday present. They are all into Freddy and Jason that lot after my son got them into them a couple year ago. Same kid had a Freddy cake last year. Had jam in so it bled when you sliced it! Anyway it is sold as a lot and shipped for free... I will get the list and a pic tomorrow.

Same for my local store. Awesome sight! Looks like we're not getting that Legends set with Coulson, Fury and Maria Hill though :(

ukmu 03-25-2015 04:25 AM

that is a Legends I would grab in a second!!!!! I love everything about that set.

Same! Still don't have a movie Fury. Even though it re-uses the body of the Punisher figure (which I already have) I'd still be happy to pay the RRP for the set, if it came out here. I know a lot of people that would love to have a Coulson figure.

ukmu 03-25-2015 10:47 AM

We do not have any 6" figures, well an couple of in scale baf figures, but that set could get some love here!!!! I would make a mini diorama shelf for it too. Mama UKMU would hate it but it would HAVE to go in the living room next to all her retro/vintage/shabby chic/ Kirsty Alsop crap, I mean stuff.

That's awesome... it's great when you meet someone you are a fan of and they are cool. Seattle Comic con is this weekend (I didn't get tix cuz I'm going out of town) but I've heard stories of people paying good $$$ to meet someone like a William Shatner and getting treated like crap (just what I've heard never met him). Also watched nightmare on Elm Street where Krueger turns into a snake deal and eats a chick.... when I was like 6 it scared the crap out of me. I saw some reaction Freddy figs but they look kinda off...otherwise I'd snatch up the head and put it on an MU figure.

If someone could go back in time and tell that to a comic reader in the 90es, the guy would surely have an heart attack :)

Still no Bishop wave in France though... except in LCS who does import of course...
I may be wrong but it looks like Sandman have the torso articulation... am I mistaken?

the sandman fig is the same as absorbing man, goldengreg.id imagine it wont be long till the wave hits retail toy stores in france.

Jackieboy 03-26-2015 04:23 AM

note to self, relearn multiquote tool, lol.nice score on the bishop, ukmu.even with the lack of articulation, its not a bad figure,i was trying out the luke cage head on it,to see if i could use it as a variant.im not sure if it works though,a joe head may work, there are a few figs that may work from that line.
longestday thats pretty cool to hear that rob was a cool guy,he always seemed to come across that way.met roger waters once, complete cunt.
jedirulz123,grab them where you can when you can.what will happen eventually is the retail toystores will drop the "infinite" line continue with the movie lines.infinite will only be sold in comic stores and in some cases only through order.seen this happen with toybiz classics and legends, hasbro legends and marvel universe.but its not all that bad, plenty of good guys on the ark, stateside and uk-europe,that will help you out.and also everyones bestest friend from the far east......happyeverydaysales!!!!!

ukmu 03-26-2015 07:37 AM

Agreed on all points for the advice to Law. Just found out he lives like three miles away from me, I will.help him any way I can. If only collected loose figures I could really him out.

I am sure they will pop up in France soon buddy. If not I.can.get them and.ship.them like before, but.it would be.cheaper to go through Chinabay.

I love the Freddy pic mate!!!! It is also nice seeing what people you talk to/with actually look like. Most likely there sent a looked in the bunch though!!! ;)
