seen scalpers at target one it wa at target last year when they were having the buy get one on marvel u,spiderman and gijoe figs. it was an older couple and the took the whole damn display with them luckily the cable and thanos i wanted were in the aisle so the missed them but they saw me at the register and accused me of taking the figs out of their cart. i had to wit fo the manager and loss prevetion to get video of me getting my figs out the aisle nowhere near their cart. even after all this no apology just them trying to deal with me for the figs. i walked away kinda mad they wasted ten minutes of my life.

...that said, i never charge over 15 bucks for MU figures. rare or not, im not looking for anything i haven't already payed to have the figures in my possession.

See, I thought people might misinterpret what I meant - damn you internet! A couple of bucks is one thing; it's when people add like 10 bucks and stuff on for "gas" when they would have went to the store regardless. I get that gas/petrol/diesel costs a fair whack but it's like any excuse to make money for some people.

I had actually stopped by as they opened and one guy was also at the door and ran right over to the aisle while I just plodded over. I saw 6 of the 2 packs laying on the shelf, he had taken them all down and put them in a pile and was looking through other stuff a few feet away. I picked up one and started walking away when he called over to me saying it was his. I kindly pointed out the pile of 5 more to which he replied they were all his. I realized this was a scalper and I smiled and began to walk away and he actually approached me and started telling me to give it back.

I kindly explained that there are 5 others for him but if he wanted "to get a beating that would put you in the hospital for a week over a !@#$% toy, I'd gladly help you out, !@#$%"

Not surprising, he did not want to go that route and I got my 2 pack. And I was pleased with myself.

But I've ran into a scalper or two who had a pile of stuff sitting there and let me grab one of a multiple they had when I asked too, so I don't necessarily think they are all total jerks. Just an annoyance.

Lol the same thing happened to a friend of mine but it happened with transformers. The scalper cleared the peg anf he just grabbed one off his cart. Same scenario and the scalper didn't want to get beat up.

i kinda joined this forum with the attitude that if i can help someone out and im in a position to help them, then ill do it with good intentions, everyone who has dealt with me here knows that.why would i want to make $$$ off the folk who share the same hobby as me.its the one thing that supposedly brings us all together.

You know I love you Jackieboy, we have a decent and profit-free trading history together

id feel the same way about some of my marvel legends, but id rather see them in the hands of a genuine collector, than in the hands of a profiteer.i make my $$$ other ways, not through this.

2GOLD 01-27-2013 06:46 PM

I never got the whole wanting more thing. If I go for that person, maybe 12 instead of 10 just because I need to leave the state to get MU figures or drive a good 90 miles. And if I find something I was after, thatgoes away since hey, I profited in that sense. Why have a community of people if we can't help each other and the line thrive? The ebay pricing of 20 or more for just released figures doesn't do any of us a lick of good.

That's the thing with Vision. I don't remember him being one of those figures with a super high ebay price when he shipped. People weren't trying to scalp him until they realized how hard that wave was to get and that people actually wanted Vision. I think these $200 prices are just due to the build up since those first auctions that started going for upwards of $50. And as you've just pointed out, once a collector pays a high price (cash or trade) they aren't likely to back down from that valuation a year or two later. The problem comes once the blood is in the water for scalpers and they keep pushing those prices as high as they can. Usually they will try to sell any new figure for as much as they can before it hits retail hard and with Hasbro being terrible at getting some of these things out it plays right into their hands (Prof X anyone?).

kylactus 01-27-2013 07:52 PM

dose anyone know if vision was any rarer than say warpath or jean grey? did anyone ever actuly open a case and see if he was there or short packed or what? I know i got every other figure in that wave at retail and saw fully stocked shelves at least five times and never a vision to be found. Hell I could have army built xforce warpath who was cheap on ebay for about a year then pow like 90 bucks overnight.

Iceman 01-27-2013 08:31 PM

I don't know if he was rarer than any of the others in that wave but he and Warpath jumps up in price. Warpath avoided going sky high because a version of him came out in the 3-pack. Maybe people just decided they needed Vision for their Avengers teams and all it took was a few bidding wars to start raising prices. Isn't ebay completed listings the first place we usually go to see the going price for a figure?

klinton 01-27-2013 09:06 PM

It annoys the living hell out of me that Vision is so expensive. I'm still debating dropping the high tag on him, but I keep pulling that punch because they're constantly cycling older figure into the cases now.

As for scalpers in general, I don't know that I've ever seen one in the flesh here in Montreal. Products seem easy enough to find if/when they're released. I even had a nice clerk at TRU point out to me that there should be a Catwoman (DKR version, when she was all the rage) figure on the pegs that he'd put up hours before as he rang through my pile of Marvel Universe and Avengers figs.

With Marvel Universe I've resorted to buying cases though, as we're woefully behind. The last wave I've seen (and still see) on pegs was the Storm/Psylocke/Patriot assortment.

kylactus 01-27-2013 09:47 PM

as much as I hate scalpers i will admit it's a point of pride to score a figure in the wild for retail, and see people buying it on ebay for shit pots of cash, it inhances the thrill. anybody can shoot a squirl, but killing a bear with a stick thats awsome!

This about sums it up.

I have the clear version and that's good enough for me.

I've thought about it. It would just annoy me, I think. If I didn't much care about him and was just filling ranks in my Avengers, that would do. He's a favorite character of mine though.

This is what happens when you try to rsist a line and hop on far too late. :p

Iceman 01-28-2013 07:41 AM

Just hold out for a reissue or new version then. I'm sure it will happen one of these days.

fosterlager 01-28-2013 09:18 AM

Yeah, gotta get another release of Vision out. He seems like an attractive two-pack candidate.

bmorr 01-28-2013 09:39 AM

Time will tell when Baghead reaches Vision levels. A sad day that will be indeed.

SHHHHHHHHH I dont have one yet!

Spacemafia 01-28-2013 01:30 PM

I found vision in a store and sold him on eBay. It's a crappy figure. That mold sucks! If some idiot wanted to spend almost 200 on a toy then here let me take your money. I've never seen bagman though, but I'm not going to lose sleep if I don't represent 2 panels from a comic book.

This line is on it's last leg. I'd give up on a vision repaint or rerelease.

bmorr 01-28-2013 02:01 PM

i resorted to making my own vision custom way back. I used a gladiator body cause he had a similar cape.

I agree about the mold, but I think the paints are really nice, as is the cape. The 'shape' is the issue.

Well... depends whether those 2 panels were important to you. I remember reading the alien costume saga when it came out, and the image of him in the FF costume with a bag stuck in my mind. I flipped when I found out they were making him!

People keep saying this - what do they know?

Mostly these rumors{and I hope that's all they are} are stemming from lack of product, new product showing less articulation, no word on new stuff other than a few figures, and cancelled/pushed back product like Foom. Truthfully though Toyfair in a couple of weeks should give us a reason to sigh in relief or mourn or beloved line.
