I have no interest in Atomica. The only CSA members I want are the main five, which they probably won't do for the next few years since they just did them in the 7inch size.

I didn't know Atomcia was a badguy. Didn't know she was a member of the CSA Also didn't know she was Latina.....cool. My criteria was.... Hmmmm..woman action figure..nice sculpt, comes with TWO Atoms....Sold. |
Wasn't there a rumour that DCC were intending to make full scale Ryan Choi and Ray Palmer figures each with smaller version of the other and Atomica so if you get all three you have one in each scale?
I skipped Aquaman because I thought he looked dull. The reviews I've seen have all said Atomica and Harley are the best figures of the wave, but if Aquaman is better than the pictures I might have to pick him up too. I'm still angry they killed Atomica, she was the most interesting thing to happen to the CSA in the New 52. |

Even though they're barely into it atm, I do really hope we get some Rebirth designs in this line at some point. Most especially for Batman and Superman. |
I saw 5 different Harley Quinn figures yesterday and all of them had horrible paint on their faces, so I passed for now. DCC missed the boat by not including the alternate open mouth smiling head that had been shown off at SDCC. I might have bought two Harleys if they had included it so I could display her with both heads in my Harley set up.
I picked up the Superman figure though and I'm pretty happy with him. I think I'm going to get out some black paint and make his eyebrows a little thicker. I wish they would give the waist and upper thighs a swivel and just do a standard ab crunch on the male figures at least. |
Ugh, the wait for Joker is painful lol.
BTW what's the deal with Icons Batman now? Is he still considered Bruce Wayne, or is this whole "Dick Grayson Bats" thing official? If its the latter it'd make no sense, because the upcoming New 52 Icons Batman has the exact same headsculpt. Personally I'm happy with him as is; I'm just hoping he's still tall enough for future releases. |

I saw the whole of this wave at my local comic store just now, the owner bought them from America rather than domestic suppliers so they were expensive $50aud apiece ($37usd) so I didn't get them but they looked great, especially HQ and Atomica. Supermans face sculpt looked a little funny but the paint was ok. Quote:

Yeah, I want this line to do so well so that we can get a wide range of characters and variations. I also hope they JL pack sells well enough (even though it is N52 and will probably barely sell) so that it might intice DC to try more team packs like the New Teen Titans, the CSA, Metal Men, etc.

Yes in Forever Evil I think it was, very stupid, pointless death of a really good villain in my opinion. I'm hoping they might bring her back post-Rebirth.

It's not a reboot exactly, it seems to be sort of smashing the old 52 and New 52 universes together. New 52 stuff is still canon, but the old characters and characterizations are coming back as well? I've onyl read Rebirth #1 so far so I'm not entirely sure what's going on.

Basically,
Wally West is trying to get through to the people he knew before the Flashpoint altered reality and in doing so, he has started to put some of the timeline back together. Barry is the first one to remember who he was which brings him back into this universe an Barry remembers what happened. Wally reveals that there is someone who has been WATCHING their universe and saw an opportunity thanks to Flashpiont to bring all of the heroes down to his level. That person is presumably Ozymandias from Watchmen. In Titans Rebirth, Wally gets Nightwing and gang together and ends up restoring their memories of who they were before Flashpoint.
|

I also don't really understand the whole Watchmen thing, or why they are involved. Wouldn't it be Doctor Manhattan who is "watching" them, since he's basically God? |
Good lordy all that sounds confusing...
Kain what would you suggest reading for me to keep up with the main things that happened...(or IS happening). how the hell is New2 superman dead...smh..i'm so lost. I though that was the reboot. ARe they CORRECTING their reboot? |

I prefer diaphragm joints in general, more realistic in my opinion, the human body tends not to rotate and the abs the way ab crunches do. I just worry if we start seeing changes in articulation based on gender it will ultimately result in less articulation in female figures. I don't have a problem with varying the articulation where it suits the figure (Black Series 6" Rey doesn't have double knees but doesn't suffer for it owing to the design). I'd hate to see Icons backslide and end with female characters that have almost no torso articulation from the diaphragm down.
I get the aesthetics argument for female figures, but I'd rather they focus on giving them a high level of articulation, especially since the ab crunches on Harley and Atomica seem very well done, no big gaping holes in their torso. |
oddly enough ..i never tried to pose these figures much..until now.
My initial thought was...why in the world did they not make a waist twist (swivel)...then when i saw what the diaphragm/torso actually does..it's actually MUCH more realistic. BUT..the range of motion i got with Harley was much better than the range of motion I got with Batman. Haven't tried on the rest of them as of yet. |

As for The Watchmen thing, we'll just have to see how it plays out. Quote:

Okay, so first, Aquaman:

The sculpt is fantastic and he can hold his trident. The alternate head with the fish call thing is a nice touch and his heads are pretty nice looking. Unfortunately, the trident is very flimsy, so you need to becareful with it or it is going to break with ease. I love that he also has three sets of hands to choose from. Superman: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psnlzvrc8h.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8kl3vi4a.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pshsnm7hnm.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pskhoabccw.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psy9yrcozd.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psbpon5n8o.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psrvdidhsu.jpg So uh... Superman... yeah... He is probalby my least favorite Icons figure to date. It is a shame too because he has so much greatness going on. The sculpting is great, especially on there hair. The chest and cape have the pentagon shape for the symbol sculpted on. The hair is fantastic. However, his left arm looks off when the elbow isn't bent due to how big his bicep is and the gaps between the legs and the waist is HUGE!! It looks fine some certain angles, but when you look at him straight on, it just looks terrible. The bigger gap doesn't even help him with leg articulation either. In fact, I don't get why this wave was delayed because there is nothing on him to show any sort of improvements to justify it. He doesn't even have boot rotation like all of the other Icons with boots do. Don't get me wrong, I think this figure puts the Mattel one to shame still, but I don't know what happened with this figure when they designed him. I just hope the next incarnation of Superman they do in the Icons line (that isn't N52) is done with a lot more care. If you are like me and need to have him in your collection, don't let the negatives stop you. However, if you are pretty meh on Superman overall, and are just collecting your favorites in the Icons line, you might want to skip him. Oh, his robot is pretty cool though. He is a great edition despite the fact that we lost out on a third set of hands for him. |
I think I'll wait for the inevitable STAS or JLU animated Superman from DCC,this looks horrible!
|
I wouldn't say it looks horrible, just that the gaps and one bicep are kinda blah. Other than that, he looks great.
