Ok, posting my findings here too as it might help others(already posted a neca's facebook) :
For those asking, full story: Yesterday I used chrome; indeed when the checkout button failed, I just refreshed and luckily the second click on the checkout button went through fine(this working, was mere coincidence and luck). Today after looking into people issues I decided to check what the deal was. So, there is a tool under chrome named the code inspector where you can explore all ajax requests, javascript actions, etc (techie/programmer stuff, I now, but basically to check generated requests from your browser to their server) I noticed that indeed, this time the checkout button was taking a while to do something (at least, nothing apparent), so decided to open code inspector and look under the hood. I could see that after clicking it, the request was being sent to their server/servers?, but in some cases, the server took a while to answer back. This response time, at least for me, varied between 15 to 40 seconds. So, my appreciations as a website developer: 1. Yeah, their site is over-saturated and unable to handle that many requests 2. Bad user interface as the experience is not very informative 3. Yes, sometimes the request can be sent and the server still not respond because it got hung on your request (this can happen to sites even without big user load) 4. As some say here: be patient with the button. What I would do in this case, given the previous already commented issues is to click once, wait a reasonable amount of time (say about 30 secs which seems to be the average) and if it does not load, refresh the page and click again once. This last step is what I used to test request duration in my experiment. Hope it helps and hope it helps NECA - N.E.C.A develop a better site (if you want, you could hire me or I could get you a good dev contact me in exchange for access to exclusives every year XD) Another option too, is opening a couple more of tabs in your browser all pointing to the cart and clicking once in the checkout button. One of them should load faster and you get the a bigger chance for your request not to be just dropped. |

Thanks for the /checkout hint. Worked great. Turtle set sold instantly, so had to buy the $400 set. Selling the extras to friends and coworkers.

There are winners and losers every year... this time I lost all three days for various reasons.
I really wanted the Turtles set. This is the first time in three years that I didn't manage to get one. Checkout button problems man... At least they will likely get a Gamestop release minus the weapons rack maybe. Not getting John Connor also stings a bit. They say they won't re-release him, but I'll hold my breath. And even if they don't, what can you do? The sun still rises, life goes on and there will always be something else better in the future worth getting or experiencing. At least now I can stop stressing about it. Toys should be fun. |
Really wish I had come back here and seen the /checkout suggestion. It occurred to me that I should have left my mid checkout tab open and just refreshed that to try and jump ahead. But swing and a miss. Got the checkout button to work about a minute in, still had TMNT, got through the paypal window and final screen it was sold out. I'm hoping that these will see a Gamestop release like the brothers.

I struck out on the TMNT sets. First time I've ever failed at a NECA exclusive. Stings a bit, but I'll live. Off to eBay I go.
|
Well, so much for trying to get the TMNT set. 3 days with the damn thing in my cart, 3 days not being able to make the site take me to the pay page. Guess they were really trying to tell me to save my money.
Only hope for Splinter now is either A)Find it secondary market (which I hate encouraging the practice of), or B) hope they do like they did the turtles and single pack them for some store's exclusive. |

Struck out too, small chance I can get someone who going to SDCC to either grab me one or let me use their badge (I'm in SD) for an hour and I'll run in and try to buy it.

At least some of you got to the checkout button. Had everything ready to go at 9:59, and for some reason today the site would flat out not load for me during the first two minutes. By the time it came up at 10:02...I knew it was over...and sure enough, Shredder and Co. were gone.
First time I have struck out all three days in years, and I'll never again be putting myself through this nonsense with Neca. Call it sour grapes if you want...and that's fine...I'll even agree with you there, but it doesn't change the fact that poorly handled stuff like this can really suck the joy out of the hobby. If there is a silver lining in all of this, at least more funds just freed up for the next round of Marvel Legends. |

I had everything set up with a Kreese in cart from yesterday passed the checkout button. I deleted Kreese and went straight for the all-in set. Used the old link from yesterday which was past the checkout button screen. Checkout with PayPal took the longest but I got lucky to secure a set :) Glad the all-in one was available! Last year was a disaster and I missed out, ordered the 2018 set for way too much. Now I'm left to sell the DC sets and Pennywise which I'm not looking forward to...

I just hope it would change where you dont lose the item during the checkout process. It's like you go shopping in a store, you put the item in a basket, go to checkout but on the way someone runs past you, grabs the item from your basket and runs to checkout. That's a wtf moment right there and it happens to us digitally... |
This year was the first I had problems. With the mirage foot of nycc, toon turtles, and movie turtles, I had no probs. Got them on the first day. This set was a headache. Even having everything ready and typing as fast as possible, the turtles set sold out in 15 seconds every day. It was the /checkout “cheat” and the bundle that saved my bacon. Thankfully I have several collector friends to split the bundle and an understanding wife.

Hey, so has anybody's Neca order been cancelled due to Neca finding them reselling it on Ebay? I got a text from my buddy last night saying his order of 2 TMNT set was canceled due to this. Basically a Neca rep found his listing, and his Ebay username and location made them deduce it was him selling it. But seriously? They have people watching Ebay and trying to match account credentials?
I thought they only canceled duplicate orders. It's really hard to reason why they're doing this, but apparently they're cracking down on "scalpers" as they put it. He's sent me all the screen grabs from the emails, and their customer service rep has been pretty firm on it. It's a really weird approach. I guess another question is, why can you order 2 sets if Neca doesn't want you even reselling 1? I too ordered 2 sets, and worry Neca might cancel my current or future orders if they find me reselling anything on Ebay. But again, so many people resell comic con exclusives on Ebay. This doesn't seem like the right action or response. Ultimately I don't think anyone's Ebay activity is any of their business. |

Hmmm..i dont know,Randy was suggesting for people to sell off the stuff they didn't want. So if what happened is true, maybe your friend was selling his for an obnoxiously exorbitant amount and they decided to shut him down.
