I thought that Odin was the real release! I think I have to do that to mine, he kind of looks silly without his staff and helmet. I love coming to this site, honestly inspirational!

Jason Abbadon 06-07-2011 12:28 PM

Off to fund me a Minimates Odin! Great mod there!

As this is a Marvel Universe Appreciation thread, I thought a few fun facts about the line might be in order...

The Marvel Universe line of figures first launched in 2009 and to date (up through wave 13 and the First Class comic packs) has released 192 figures (counting variants and exclusives). That's 13 waves of single figures, 8 waves of comic packs, 2 waves of gigantic battles, 1 masterworks, 1 six pack release, 1 wave of TRU three packs, 1 wave of Target 2 packs, 2 San Diego Comic Cons, and 2 mail away offers.

99 of those 192 figures are single packs, 42 come in comic packs, 10 come in gigantic battle packs, 4 are masterwork packs, 9 are from the Giant Sized X-Men six pack, 2 are mail away exclusives, 9 are SDCC exclusives, 9 are from the TRU exclusive three packs, and 8 are from the Target exclusive 2 packs.

Of those 192 figures, 24 are considered "variants".

These figures represent 95 individual, unique characters (not just a different costume of the same character).

These 192 figures include:
-14 Spiderman figures (not counting Dark Spiderman since he's a different character)
-13 Ironman figures (not counting Iron Patriot, again, different character)
-11 Wolverine figures (not counting Dark Wolverine, see above)
-7 Captain America figures (not counting Bucky Cap, different character)

Supplementing the Marvel Universe line with the figures already released for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and Spiderman 3.75" figure lines provides additional unique individual characters to add to your collection as follows:

XMO: Wolverine - 3 new characters
Iron Man 2 - 12 new characters
Thor - 8 new characters
Captain America - 5 new characters
Spiderman 3.75 - 7 new characters

Anywho...that's the fruit of my waisting time at work efforts. Enjoy!

Tiberius 06-07-2011 12:46 PM

To waste more time neatogecko you should find out how many body molds where used for those 192 figures ;)

Optimus Vader 06-07-2011 12:53 PM

Awesome stuff, neatogecko. I love stats.

Jason Abbadon 06-07-2011 02:08 PM

Nice! Give us a Heroes to villians breakdown by character? how many different heroes are there? How many villians?

I'm glad you asked that Jason. Point in fact the break down is as follows (unique individual characters):

-58 heroes (including Deadpool, Punisher, Sentry, Yellowjacket and Multiple Man who are somewhat questionable at times)
-37 villains (including Dark Phoenix even though Jean Grey was also counted as a hero, and I counted Red Hulk and Iron Man 2020 as villains as that is how I think of them)
- 1 non-combatant (Mary Jane Watson)

Also interesting, there are 10 figures in the line that would be considered "Army Builders".

Jason Abbadon 06-07-2011 03:14 PM

10 Army Builders? Lets see...HYDRA, SHIELD, Hand goons, Skrull soldier, AIM goon....
Who am I missing?
I personally count Magneto as a villian, but even so, that's over 10 heroes more than the villians! Good thing there are powerhouse villians like Thanos and Apocalypse to balance those scales!

You know what we need? Doombots- the purple kind.
And a Kree soldier!

Redlantern161 06-07-2011 03:18 PM

Hmm how about a breakdown on different costumes of characters like for each one exactly i know that might take a while

For the 10 I counted each Hand Ninja once (three of them) and both versions of the Skrull soldier once (2 of them although this is very much arguable since the only difference is the stand...) I also included the Frost Giant, AIM Trooper, Hydra, SHIELD, and Skrull Giant Man (although I guess there may or may not be multiples of this guy walking around the marvel universe. I just seem to remember that there were any number of "giant" skrulls during Secret Invasion). I did NOT count Multiple Man (no particular reason why, I just didn't).

Hmmm. That may be a good project for tomorrow when I once again give up trying to be productive at work.

Jason Abbadon 06-07-2011 03:26 PM

The big Skrull was unique- there were other giant skrulls, but they looked different. the Gigantic battles skrull was abuut to kill the Young Avengers when nick Fury blew his head clean off with a bigass gun!
Yes, the one that comes with his MU figure to be exact!

Optimus Vader 06-07-2011 03:43 PM

My Marvel collection has pretty much skyrocketed within the past few months... give or take a few I'd say I have about 50 (including movie lines), so now I'm trying to figure out how to display them in a way that isn't too cluttered. I need levels ("it'll be a whole new lifestyle" -Cosmo Kramer). So I got this spice rack at Target, which is awesome, but it's ugly as sin. Can anyone recommend something similar, but nice looking? Maybe in black at least? I was thinking about building one for myself, but I have enough shit to do around the house already.

The pic quality is shitty as hell, but you get the idea..

Looks similar to what you are using but I always thought these apex stands looked cool:
APEX action figure, collectible, and curio stand on eBay!

The Spiderman line version looks much better! Exactly like his early comics appearances.

Tiberius 06-07-2011 06:49 PM

Spider Man line Venom with SHS articulation = must happen

Only one correction. The secret wars two pack ironman was Rhodey, not stark. So like Iron Patriot, it was a different person. Otherwise awesome. Thanks for the info!

Oooo. Good catch. I counted Rhodey as an individual character, but I accidentaly counted him for the number of Iron Man figures too.

Quick question: how do you get 9 figures out of a 6-figure boxed set?

Otherwise, great list. I love reading little factoids and stats like this. Bit of a trivia buff, I am.

omega145 06-08-2011 05:27 AM

The variants of Colossus, Storm and Nightcrawler in addition to the original 6.

Optimus Vader 06-08-2011 05:40 AM

Nice shots, omega. I think I might need to work in another toyline into my team "f u up" shots. To be continued.

Sweeeeeeetttttt

Tiberius 06-08-2011 09:57 PM

That man cave is winning. I'm just imagining if I kept my figures in their case...I gotta start buying doubles :P

omega145 06-09-2011 03:39 AM

Sweet pics vwong, its like your own little toy shop. I've been tempted to keep some in package but I like being able to display them and get my hands on them. The only figure I probably won't open is cable with hope. I'll keep the hopeless cable on display.
