The scene right before the bridge....right after the dinner scene. His spider Sense went off. On the subway it went off. It was going off while being shot at by police before he got his leg shot.

He was new with the powers and Im most sure it was his spider sense making him dodge on the subway. I see the Spider sense as something that made his body move to get away from danger. Im sure as the films come out he will have a better understanding of it.

Everytime it went off there was this "Ting" that was put in the music. As soon as the water dripped on his face the "Ting" came on.

When all the stuff happened at the bridge right before he turned there was a "Ting".....

On the subway the guy did but the beer on Peter, so he may just have felt it. But I think you may be right. Lets just assume it's still developing.

Funny how the bottle of beer didn't startle him, but the drop of water did. It is things like this that people get too nitpicky over. In the end it is just a movie, and there were a lot of things with the original trilogy that can be cross examined all day.

THIS is the comparison/review I was looking forward to as I agree with pretty much everything Rob points out.... :) (Now my raging inner fanboy can cool off a bit..lol)

TR Review/Comparison: The Amazingly (Unnecessary) Spider-Man - Topless Robot

Just a note though: Rob does forget that there was a "schmaltzy scene" in the Raimi Spidey movie, with the New Yorkers throwing trash off the bridge at Gobby. ;D

I liked the movie quite a bit, and honestly I thought Andrew Garfield was the absolute perfect choice for Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I could've done without the skateboarding scenes, but that's just personal preference because I never pictured Peter having that particular hobby.

Now, I honestly didn't care too much for Lizard. I don't remember there being any sort of references to either his wife or son (although supposedly they WERE cast, but scenes were cut out) and that right there is a major motivation for Curt's character to fight his lizard side, and without them, he was just another mad scientist with dual personalities.

I also thought the Lizard's cgi was quite poor, but I'll reserve final judgement until I see him clearly on Blu-Ray.

But Spidey's character was so spot-on and that was enough to make this new movie my favorite of the four. There were plenty of quips (some of them appropriately corny) as well as there being a few subtle touches that were just perfect, such as when Spidey leaps out from the sewers and takes just a quick second to kick the manhole cover back into place before moving on. He was being responsible, people! :p

Speaking of which, I may be in the minority, but I'm damn happy the "With great power..." line was cut. I'm so SICK of that line. Seriously, if I never hear it again I'll be extremely pleased. Plus... people don't seem to realize that, in Spider-Man's very first appearance in the comics, Uncle Ben NEVER SAID IT! It was the narrator. Peter never heard it. So for those two reasons, I'm glad the line wasn't used.

Few notes:

-Not happy about him taking his webs (ahem - sorry - "biocables") straight from Oscorp. Why not make it a formula he finds in his dad's files?
-How many people know Peter (or at least random highschooler #1) is Spider-Man? Between him being unmasked several times, and falling from the top of a building, swinging down to street level and landing on a chair right beside a traffic-jammed street... what, no one saw? That irked me.
-People seem to think Peter stopped looking for Uncle Ben's killer... but why? The whole "vigilante" segment was him trying to find the guy, and after that WHEN would he find the time? His life got hectic QUICK, folks. Plus he had the police sketch pinned to his wall in the final shot of his room, so obviously his search isn't done yet.

Considering some of the commenters who've been following the guy who wrote this it seems he was pretty set on not wanting to like this movie going into it, like many others, and was still surprised it was actually good. So in the interest of not wanting to go completely back on his words prior to the movie felt it necessary to defend himself.

To that end, not an unfair comparison in terms of opinion, with the exception of his Peter Parker comparison . Turns out some people like Tobey as Peter if for no other reason than they really just think anyone who uses a skateboard or a cell phone must be a Hipster these days

Really has no one else read Ultimate Spiderman ever? We got a modern take on Peter where he was still a geek and not popular, unfortunately being a geek is actually not all that unpopular these days as long as you look somewhat decent and have a backbone. Ultimate Peter Parker definitely had a backbone and wasn't the complete pussy that Tobey's Peter was.

Now granted this isn't a complete rehash of Ultimate Spiderman they are certainly borrowing more from it than 616 in much the same way Marvel Studios borrowed more from the Ultimates than the 616 Avengers. The whole purpose of that universe was to appeal to a modern audience. Looks like it works for movies too.

Anyway, not saying you have to like it only that some of the comments of how Garfield doesn't play an accurate Peter have been very biased by those who "seemingly" only have familiarity with 616 Peter so far. Which also happens to be a much older demographic of viewers/readers.

Finally saw this. Thought it was pretty awesome. Movie did alot of things right, some wrong, but I can't begin to nitpick it based off of deviating from the source material. These Marvel movies for the most part are drastically being influenced by the Utimate Universe, which I f*ckin' hate, but it's keeping enough of the classic influence to stay afloat of my interests enough. It's also establishing it's own movie continuity shit, were it being advertised as a direct panel by panel translation of a graphic novel like 300 and Watchmen did, We'd all have reason to b*tch and moan about every single detail.

This movie, as a throwback to this: Do not hotlink images. Please host the photos yourself. -Toyark Staff

It failed pretty hard. The Raimi films were a step closer, even though they had much fail on their end as well.

Now, as a throwback to this: Do not hotlink images. Please host the photos yourself. -Toyark Staff

Film did a lot of things right. Wasn't a direct representation of it, but it was clear to me it was it's source material. The U-Verse had a different take on many characters and to me it makes sense to use this Peter since this one is aimed at a more current generation. He also needs to be pretty young to exist in a world where the Avengers are already established and such. This movie's Peter also came off exactly as the U-Verse's Peter. Tobey annoyed the shit out of me, and for that, this movie gets alot more interest.

However, if this film is stil relevent to the shit that's gonna happen in future Marvel movies like the Avenger's 2/3 or even just mention of this film's continued existance in forms of references and shit, it's not gonna feel like a total waste and brings a good unity to everything. If they flat otu neglect the movie and it's sequels for a future Marvel-based reboot/origin story, I'm gonna feel like I wasted my time and money. So overall, that's a deciding factor in the importance this Spidey flick is gonna have with me, though I did think it was eons better than the Raimi trilogy. I like Raimi as much as the next guy, but his ass needs to stick to making comedy/horror films that we all enjoy watching. Though the first two were enjoyable, by the time the third came out, it was just a mess while some hold the second Spidey film as god-status, I don't, I hate Dr. Octopus. So there's that.

This film needed a Bruce Campbell cameo though.
