Also the lack of online preorders for future waves fuels the speculation. Not that I believe the line is ending.

It's the folly of prediction. If the line gets canceled in six months these people will come out of the wood work and say "see, I told you" or "I knew it all along and no one wanted to listen". People like to make big predictions because they can cash in later if it comes true but then they are wrong 20 times in a row no one will remember. I can claim to have insider knowledge about Hasbro or Apple or whatever and then just make some educated guesses. If what I say happens I get to act all smug but even if it doesn't there are a dozen things I could blame.

Single Carded
Rhino Elektra Mysterio Bearded Thor (Cancelled?) Death's Head (Cancelled?) Black Knight (Cancelled?) Comic Packs Moon Knight & Ant-Man Team Packs Uncanny X-Men (Cyclops, Colossus & Emma Frost) Is there anything else OFFICIALLY announced that isn't out yet? If there isn't a large amount of announcements at ToyFair... then there is reason to worry. 1 comic pack, 1 team pack and a wave's worth of figures. There's no more excuse of "there's so much coming out that they don't need to announce anything" excuses. It's ToyFair or DIE for MU. |
I have a few visions. I didnt buy buy him because I wanted to have a bunch, I got him for friends who didn't have him but ended up finding him at retail and I was too lazy to return him. I sold 2 of the 5 I have for 10 bucks. The rest have been sitting around. I don't want to scalp, I just want to use him to get what I want now.

Don't listen to any butthurt, if you sell something for market value AFTER it's been released... that's perfectly fine and you are free to do so without any regret. Amazing Fantasy #15 has a $.15 cover price. Would selling it for market value make you a scalper? LOL no. Scalping is buying up stuff at retail and immediately raising the price. |
Symbiote--thanks, I forgot about the original wave order--still, I've never seen a wave that didn't show up on BBTS soon after hitting retail. It just speaks to MU's distribution problems if all of these figures are made and just waiting for release somewhere, and somehow a few found their way out to Walmarts before they were supposed to. China leaks I can see--but a national chain like Walmart? Weird.
As far as the line's future goes--I have nothing but well wishes for it to continue (especially as a contrast to the more mass-produced & aimed at kiddos lines), but it's been a great run. Not many toylines get a 4 year chance. I did kind of buy the kool aid at the last toyfair with the idea that Vonner revealed so much of what was to come that they didn't have much new to show. Like Mike pointed out--we're almost there with all of the previous Vonner reveals at this point--so if nothing new shows up this year, it'll be a tough pill to swallow and a bad sign. I'm optimistic and mildly artistic, so even if the line does end, MU will live on in my house for quite a while through cherry picking from other toy lines (even the kid lines) and making customs. |
And just to keep my opinion of the line's future from being entirely doom & gloom...
there's still some pretty cool RUMORED figures that haven't been seen or even announced. Variants Angel (Red - Champions) Beast (Secret Avengers) Nova (Classic?) New Figures A-Bomb & Abomination (Part of planned Hulk themed wave) Sasquatch & Wendigo (Also part of planned Hulk themed wave?) Vance Astro Could never happen (because RUMORS) but it's something to think about. |

I would really love to see some kind of sales report on MU in terms of costs / returns. |

So we've got at least 2-3 more waves comng not counting anything comic series from other lines can be redone or re-used mold-wise. Like A-Bomb from bootless Ben grimm/Thing figure, Red She-Hulk and Savage She-hulk from sensational she-hulk. Force Works Scarlet witch, Finesse, shield agents(new live tv show, so that'd be pretty damn smart too for comic counterparts of Dugan, Coulson, Bridge, and others), or white Vision with 80s Ironman and US Agent(mimicing the classic avengers game, but everyone should already have a normal captain america), or multiple man in a coat, or even Modern Quasar from Nova's mold, and more. So it's not that the molds aren't there. It's just official announcements we're waiting on really. There are still tons of figures they can do from what they already have molds of. Including business suit figures from Xavier's mold. Like Jarvis, Stark, Osborn, Purpleman, etc. Plus if desperate, merging GI Joe heads into MU for some Shield agents like they did Maria Hill on BW's body. Pretty much they have perfected several male base body types as well as a handful of female ones that's a large roster of parts to tap for creation with minor addon pieces now besides the heads. It could also be possible that Disney is just shoring up all outside connections to regulate information releases, or they are experimenting with customer surprise with the line to reinstill that feeling of going to the store and finding new characters(this thought actually intrigues me though it's just cruel). *edit* Awesome! Mike got the others I missed. Quote:
Getting the X-Men pack with Emma out around Days of Future Past or the wolverine could be seen as prime marketing time. Like how west Coast avengers are being pushed out fast now in the tail end of avengers histeria but also near/before IM3(it does have war machine and Hawkeye). Vance Astro could be pushed back to a cosmic heavy wave around when GOTG comes out in theaters. And the list goes on and on. Cap 2, Thor 2, etc on who you could or should release when and how much time between you have to use on saturation. Though I'd hope a hulk family wave is nearing ready for spring/summer before his Agents of SMASH toon starts. The biggest thing right now seems to be either getting retailer interest buzzing again, or getting the stores stock faster. Some better case balancing would be nice too with it heavier on the new figures. I'm not sure how much case assortments are dictated by store demand or customer base demand though(those two don't always line up). |

are people getting butthurt about others selling their items at retail???NO.you pointed it out in the very last line of the above comment,THATS what people are getting "Butthurt" about.if people want to sell figures for $100 or whatever, fine.Just dont come onto my BTS page looking to get the cheapest deal possible<<<ive had this happen several times, let me ask you,do you think a spiderman comic style lizard swapped for an IM2 mandarin is a fair trade?i do.obviously there are those here who dont.i was actually asked to put some money on top of one of these trades.considering people picked it up in the Black friday sale for less than 4 bucks.people said it was because it was a sought after figure,LOL.EVERY figure is sought after by one person or another here or on any other forum. |

Yeah, that would be a very fair swap. I find very few people left here that will offer good trades, but there are still some. There have been so many new people coming on here setting up BST pages and asking ebay prices or wanting a king's ransom for whatever they are offering. If something is available at retail in my area I always sell at cost (within a dollar or so usually). I get people on here now who have stuff in their area that I want and they want to charge 50%-100% mark up to "help me out". No thanks. What's most disturbing is that they don't even have any feedback or history here. Most post a link to feedback on another site. How does that do anything to help keep them honest here? If they scam/scalp a few people here they are just ruining the rep of their newly created account here. No risk for them. |

I agree about this talk cycling through the Jan to June dry spell of MU. But something about this time I'm getting the vibe like all of this end of the line talk could be for real. I think it's the latest Spiderman toys and the current IM3 reveals have me thinking this 5 points of articulation trend will stick with Hasbro and there future offerings.
I see it as a time to save $ for the really expensive things I will most likely be purchasing in the future. No I don't mean a house, but more toys. lol Hasbro has plenty of parts to choose from in making new MU style figures and even if they are only peppered in with waves with less articulation I will still be happy to pick them up. I waited almost 30 years for Hasbro to make a great 4 inch superhero action figure and I will ride this pony as far as it takes me. |
b'gah. I'm seeing IM3 and Ultimate Spidey stuff on the shelves but no 3.75s yet. I don't care how shit they may be I still wanna make the judgment for myself.

Hulk fun to look at!
HULK WILL NOT BE DINNER FOR SALAD! |
How about a little less bellyaching about what the future may hold and a little more appreciation for what we enjoy. Like that Hulk pic, lets see some innovation.
