Why dose John Stewart not wear a mask?

I don't know why I've never wondered that before. He didn't typically wear a mask in the comics. In the JL cartoon, he was usually drawn with glowing green eyes when he was using his ring's energy, but never a mask that I can recall.

Great Comic pics. I knew that they had to wear masks at some point in their lantern carriers. With that question answered brings another why did he remove his mask? I looked it up in wiki but it gave no info.
