As I don't care for the "thrill of the hunt" I don't buy figs in the store, I just purchase online and call it a day, but I do look from time to time if I'm in a store that carries toys. The few times I've done that there's very little of the new stuff left on the pegs. The little guys do sell and sell quickly around here. I also see 6" ML figs in droves. Usually the same ones over and over and over.

Hmph.

Meanwhile, my TRU has been sitting on the same Heroic Age Iron Man and Grim Reaper figures for a year and a half. The only reason they've gotten anything new is because Hasbro is smart enough to rebrand every time sales drop.

My Target recently found Planet Hulk and X-23 in the back and put them out for sale under the $13.99 Infinite price tag.

I saw some at my Target, and my TRU went up to $19.99.

CCC.

Hmph.

Yeah they restocked the new ulik wave and the 2 packs but they are all gone, they sell like hot cakes around me. Meanwhile I can go just about anywhere and pick up multiples of any of the 6" figures released over the last 2 years or so. Even the brand new onslaught wave is starting to peg warm here. I feel like there are so many loyal 3.75" collectors and fans that hasbro just tolerates us and can't get rid of us lol.

Seriously though, as much as I like my own customs, it's customs like that that keep me humble.

Good stuff, Pilkster.

My next batch should be finished tomorrow (sans Spidey, that guy is giving me fits with the web pattern). What material did you use for the waist piece?

Those could be returns. Target still uses the old stock number for Universe, Infinite, and I think the new 3.75 inch Legends.

Pilkster does lovely work, and is also a lovely chap. He did me some heads, and now 3 customs as well. I plan on overloading him with work in the future! Haha

Truth. He's now done a good number of projects for me and I couldn't be happier.

In fact, he just finished one that's special to me and rather close to my heart. But I'll let it up to him if he wants to post the images. ;)

Image test...

Finally...

So these are just old xforce repaints. A few years old.

Mordiganne 03-04-2016 06:13 PM

Alright, it's custom time (pics begin with the next post). Working on making more characters that Hasbro is unlikely to make to have a genuine "Marvel Universe". Sorry the pics are kind of crappy. I took them with my cell phone.

Iron Man and Sif are the regular Hasbro figs this time around.

Maverick - hated the yellow scheme so he got a full comic style repaint and I chopped off the dangly gun belt.
Viper - Shanna head (modified) Aurora body, sculpted belts.
Silver Sable - Aurora figure with sculpted gloves, bandanna, arm and leg bans and belt. Gun holster and leg knife taken from Bullseye.
Bastion - Dr. Strange head modified with the stache shaved off, fixed that wonky eyebrow and sculpted goatee. Cloak body with added sculpting (gold bits) - his solo pic was too blurry to post.
Gambit - Reaper main body, Dr Strange arms, Steve Rogers/Drax hands. Sculpted boots and torso armor bits. Not super happy with the boots since I forgot to sand them before I put on the base silver coat and didn't feel like taking it off at that point.
Luke Cage - Entire figure is Drax with sculpted shades
Madame Masque - Opted to avoid the Hasbro route and make her the same as Viper, so she's a Valkyrie body with a massively modified Aurora head. Plus I couldn't find her character's height so I made her tall to give some female size variation to my collection.
Mary Jane - used the Campbell design. Have a spidey head image for her shirt but I'm out of color ink so I'll have to add it later.

Titannia and Spidey are moved to the next batch. The characters I have slated for that batch so far are: Goblin Queen, Mimic, Baron Strucker, Jim Lee Storm. Not sure who else yet. Suggestions?

Edit: This is the Campbell Mary Jane I keep referencing.
