After cleaning up and addressing this privately with a few members, I am re-opening this thread.

Things can get off topic in a long discussion thread. It happens, and for the most part, you all get the discussion steered back in the right direction. However, when it leads to long winded arguments, fighting and behavior that affects the overall flow, it forces myself or one of the other staff members to jump in. It was brought to my attention by multiple people concerned with the direction of the thread and I needed time to sort it out before it was brought back up.

Please keep the overall flow here as civil as it can be. Thank you all.

Got it. I'll try to avoid any stupid arguments in future.

So.... how about that Black Panther figure?

Not a bad figure since i could never find the original. I'll pick it up cause its good lookin but i honestly i kinda prefer the movie look a bit more.

Me too it makes more sense if he is armored plus he looks like a total badass in the suit from Civil War

I mean, as far as I know, the suit has always been Vibranium-weave in the comics, it just never looked as detailed as the one in the movie.

True i don't really know much about black panther like i do with Other Marvel Characters like Iron man or Giant man. So i guess i just like the Detailed suit better because it resembles Armor more then the Comics

Pretty sure Hudlin introduced the vibranium-weave back in 2005...

Black Panther looks good! Surprised to see a Marvel Legends figure actually just appear from complete obscurity like this.

It was Christopher Priest in the 90's. Like someone else said, it's just a matter of the movie suit actually showing you the metal in the costume to make it more visually appealing.

Thanks, I thought that was the Hudlin run. That was the look I was thinking of...Nice excerpt! Ha!

Edit:

I'll take any panther fig, but I wish the new fig was more obviously going for that look. Black gloves would have helped. Redo the Toy Biz classic! I know a lot of people don;t like the TB anymore, but at the time, it was dope.

The ToyBiz version had some much going for it, and despite using that wonky WonderMan body, was a fantastic piece and was one of their best.

Not as hyped as I could be about this new Legends as it is essentially a repaint of the original Rocket Racoon BP, but while it disappoints a little in rehash, it makes up for it with the accessories and in that the redeco looks good. I was never a fan of all of the blue shading the original figure had (I felt it was poorly done like Big Time Spidey was,) so the simple black look feels better with the painted gloves. I do with they had some added gold details though and some different feet (more in the lines of Spidey's "flat" feet,) which I might end up taking into my own hands once I get this. Plus, since the RR BP was so hard to find initially, the re-release really helps on the wallet as well, although it renders my custom obsolete now on my shelf...

On a final note, I did notice that one of those hands looks like it has trigger fingers, which makes me raise my fist to the sky in annoyance. Why does BP get trigger hands, but the Punisher does not!?!

TheBlueMarvel 12-11-2016 07:13 PM

@Triv

I wonder how that cape would look on the new one ?

Your custom is still cool, I wouldn't retire it. I teased you about his bling and Hasbro ended up doing the same!! lol I like the blue wash, but you're right in that it could have been better.

EvilMonkeyPope 12-11-2016 07:36 PM

This Walgreens BP underwhelms me.

Yeah man I don't really need him either he is kinda cool and all but just was hopeful for a New or Not made figure not a Repaint.

kenm2474 12-11-2016 07:52 PM

@Tim. Would you be interested in a Metal Claw Wolverine?

Because they've already molded trigger finger hands for the BuckyCap body. For some reason, Hasbro seems reluctant to mold any new hands for the Grim Reaper body aside from the pre-existing open grip, salute, and finger point hands (aside from the shield-throwing one for Secret War Cap, but I'm not sure I consider that purely a hand in terms of accessories).

donmeca2020 12-11-2016 09:06 PM

While looking at the pic of the new black panther figure, it appears they threw in kraven's same spear weapon just repainted.

Captain Nash 12-11-2016 09:22 PM

Really like that new Black Panther. will probably get as the WG exclusives (if that's what it is) is fairly easy to find with enough time. I only have the TB and MCU BPs, so this will be a nice update.

I'm also really hoping we get an Eric Killmonger in 2017/2018 hopefully there will be a BP wave released late 2017 or early 2018.

It's not just that they don't seem to want to make new molds or even upscale old ones, it's just the decisions they make altogether with hands period. Batroc and Ghost Rider are not known for using firearms, yet come with two trigger hands (fists would have been preferable for Batroc.) Fantomex had those wierd hands that couldn't hold his weapons properly. Vision is often depicted performing open handed gestures, yet nearly all of them have two fists. Eel is given standard fisted hands but Electro is not. Wonder Man's ion fisted hands were smaller than his normal ones, and Nuke and Punisher came with hands that had no trigger fingers (yet Cable and Deadpool do...) It's almost as if they aren't paying attention sometimes during the figure designing process.

Let's not even get started on the lack of hand choices for the women.

Glad Panther comes with something to properly hold the spear at least, since the clawed hands wouldn't work all that well, but the least the could have done was just give it a standard gripping hand. SMH

At least it works better than the "trident" they included with Namor.

SymbiSpidey 12-12-2016 12:05 AM

I guess Hasbro is trying to release Fantastic Four related characters through Walgreens? First Invisible Woman, now BP...

CasualCollector 12-12-2016 05:27 AM

This is going to be hard to find and expensive... but it will be worth it clearly.

Is she confirmed as a Walgreens exclusive?

Dormamu 12-12-2016 06:54 AM

Well, time to start haunting Walgreens. So I can get a Black Panther. To trade for a Deadpool.
