Hey all. Been forever since I have been here. How have you all been?
I thought I was done with Legends as I just randomly lost interest. Then I walked into TRU for the heck of it last night and wham, full Sandman wave sitting on the peg and all Spidey Legends are 20% off. Picked up everyone for $16 each. Not a bad way to get back into the Legends. Quick stops to Walmart.com and Amazon thanks to tips here and I snagged the Space Venom wave and nearly all the Abomination wave for about $10 a figure. I take it movie Scarlet Witch is the current overpriced scalper bait? |
just got the email earlier today that the money was taken for the sandman wave, im SOO looking forward to that !!! symbiote spidey here i come ! i'll post pics soon as the wave arrives.

Welcome back Kirathis! Snap some photos so we can all enjoy your good fortune! |
I don't visit this thread much, but I came here to mention that a bunch of Legends are super cheap on Walmart.com. Looks like you are already on top of it haha.
Nabbed Hobgoblin and Electro for 10 bucks each. |
Hey, if/when anyone has Spaceknight Venom and the new 2099 Spidey from the Sandman wave, could you snap a pic of them together and post it? I'd love to see how they size up next to each other, aesthetically.

I've still yet to buy even one 6 inch Marvel Legends figure... I think this new BP will be my first. If not, it will definitely be Vance Astro. Looks really cool and I dug him in the Guardians of Infinity comic

Quick Sandman Wave group shot with my new 4k monitor in the background. Not buying Legends for a few months helped me get some new "toys" :D. http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4wfexqzq.jpg My thoughts on the wave. Spider-Man UK: Overall the best figure from the wave due to a solid figure and spot on paint apps. Green Goblin: The face sculpt is amazing as are the details on the pumpkin bomb. The figure suffers in a few places, namely the glider. There are no pegs on the glider so it is held on only by pushing it up over the feet and the toe points. It made for a really awkward time posing him. Granted I did not take a ton of time trying. The pumpkin bomb paint apps are great but his hands are not really sculpted to hold it very well. Spider-Man 2099: I am one of the people who likes the new costume design and thankfully my figure has pretty solid paint apps. However, with flight being a big part of this costume, the lack of thruster effects and the web wings are a bit of a letdown. The torso and legs are also super wobbly. Black Suit Spider-Man: In my opinion easily the worst figure of the wave just by sheer "oh look a repaint"-iness. While I am glad there is a new version for newer collectors, this is nothing but a repaint of the Raft set Spider-Man. Like Spidey 2099 it also suffers from some torso wobble, although it is less and there is no real leg wobble. Shocker: What the derp? No seriously is it Deadpool under the mask? The face sculpt is weird at the eye section (best of the 4 on the peg) and a paint app miss-step highlights what seems to be a typical one squinty, one wide Deadpool-esque expression. I would have liked the kneepads to match the look of the gauntlet paint apps or at least look less "plasticy" but that is a minor gripe. Overall one of the better of the wave. Jackal: The face sculpt is great, the figure is sturdy with no wobble and the paint apps are solid. He is as basic as basic gets but from a sheer execution he is going in my number 2 slot for the wave. Ms. Marvel: I will be honest, I do not understand the appeal of the character; but then my exposure to her is pretty limited so it may just be from that. The figure however easily falls into my number 3 on the wave list. Really the first 3 are pretty interchangeable. They did a great job on Ms Marvel overall. All of the figures on the peg had nearly perfect paint apps. I expected some issues on the gold parts but they are really solid. The face sculpt is great as well. The plastic used for her larger hands is also light enough that it does not cause balance issues for the otherwise very light figure. Sandman: I really wish Hasbro would stick to and perfect a good peg system for BAF legs. Sandman has the one large, one small version ala Terrax and my small one was a PAIN to attach. I am still not sure it is fully seated. Minor gripe though. The paint apps are perfect on him. No issues with the shirt lines. The half sand face I used for the picture is easily one of the most impressive sculpts/paint apps I have seen. The sculpts for the sand arms are also outstanding. Sadly, unlike Ms Marvel, these hands are heavy and solid and easily topple the figure. He is leaning against the monitor in my photo and still managed to topple forward 3 times before I got the others set up. I would have loved to see this figure and the Raft version both be able to use the sand appendages interchangeably. It would have been a nice touch. Even so, the interchangeable hands for them are outstanding and easily one of the best effect pieces I can think of from any Legends figure BAF or otherwise. |
^ All I want is black Spidey... didn't realize his eyes are so big though.

As a slight update to that, Sandman will stand pretty well with more effort to counter-balancing his arms. With the hammer fist up and the claw out and a wide stance on the figure he looks pretty awesome. |
Arkers, I can not believe the recent deals we are getting on these older and new waves of Marvel Legends...Got Eel and Captain Britain for around 20...And, found a Superior Spider-Man for 17 shipped, I saw him in the wild some time ago, was not going to pass on a great figure like him at the price point...Thinking about get some other figures from waves past also while the getting is good!...Loving the news on the Black Panther 2.0...Hopefully, he can be found in the wild like Deadpool, ha, SMH!...Hasbro, what is up with not giving Sandman regular arms?!, Really, no one said anything in the meeting?...One the fence for this reason on Sandman, trying to like the figure, but why Hasbro!...Pre ordered Black Spider-Man and Shocker, and will see if can find other figures in the wild, since some have been spotted in the US of late...Also, loving that GOTG2 wave, I really am excited about the BAF, and the comic based figures of the wave...May Santa give everyone extra toys this year, and Happy Holiday, ladies and gentlemen of the Ark...
