No joke, right? I still buy some figures at full retail, but usually those are either ones I know are hard to find (or will be harder to find, if they're from a brand-new wave), or if I'm getting them as a gift for a friend. The rest I'm fairly patient with, and get rewarded with up to 50% or more off. Either through in-store sales, online price drops, or my wife closely monitoring Amazon's prices. Sure, those last two are a gamble paint-wise, but outside of the occasional Misty Knight, the odds of getting really bad paint are pretty low.

I actually give a buddy of mine a ton of crap for his impatience with buying Transformers, because nine times out of ten, I'll hold off just long enough to either see them on sale at a store, or stumble on them at the discount chains (Ross, TJMaxx, etc).

TheBlueMarvel 12-21-2016 03:23 PM

@Kirathis

I agree that 50 bucks is a non-starter....You remember how much Icons were? I don't think they were $50...

I'll likely pre-order next year's Thor wave also...

Dr Kain 12-21-2016 03:56 PM

So it's basically the Batman Beyond equivalent?

BTW, which comic featured this? I have the first two volumes of the recent 2099 series and he has his original costume on those.

Sweet pics. While I've always liked the idea of the blue and gold teams was there ever a reason given as to why the X-Men used this system or how members were chosen? Did one team handle certain situations while the other team prepped for other stuff?

I don't know really. But I do know that Gold Team Heavily Outguns Blue. Storm, Jean, and Iceman are real Heavy Hitters.

It was mostly due to them just having an overabundance of members at the time. Hence, splitting the team up so they could deal with multiple threats at once.

As for Gold Team being heavy hitters, that's true, but Blue Team has the more combat-oriented members (at least, close combat).

I do not remember how much they were (never bought any) but based on the Legends pricing at the time I would expect they were probably $30-40.

Actually yes, Batman Beyond is a pretty good comparison of the features. I do not know the exact time frame as I read everything on Marvel Unlimited (6 month delay from print) so based on that it is about a year old now. I believe it was one of the titles that started post Secret Wars but I may be wrong.

he kinda is the equivalent to batman beyond, however he doesnt have a bat jet, cave etc.

As far as this costume has been around, it started in the current series that came out earlier this year if im correct. Peter made it for him, and it can fly and withstand some serious damage.

So now my stress is finally over. The package made it over to my folks house today. I really do feel like a kid during christmas. This entire wave is great imo.

Now i just got them home and im close to ripping them out of their packaging and displaying them with the rest of my spider verse figures and my spiderman villians shelf

LapuLapu 12-21-2016 11:43 PM

Found jackal and symbiote spidey at walmart tonight.

MeLikeJinx 12-22-2016 01:23 AM

Why did they have to make Black Spidey's legs bent like that in the package? LOL. I plan to keep him MIB next to my MIB Pizza Spidey and Spider-Gwen... Pizza Spidey's legs are straight in the box. Maybe it is just the angle of the pic that makes it look weird... hopefully with a straight on view it looks okay.

UpDog 12-22-2016 07:38 AM

Symbi Spidey's leg broke right out of package and had to return him, which was a major bummer. Not sure why but it seems like across the board, that thing is extremely brittle.

You think Hasbro would add deadpool to the wave 2 assortment to try and sell cases? As it stands it's a 7 figure assortment

I think that's entirely possible given the demand and the fact that he does not have a BAF piece. He could kind of fit in with any wave.

That sounds about right. Do you think these new 12 inch figs are superior to Icons? Does your 12" Spidey match the 71 POA (or whatever it was) Icons Spidey? The new paint jobs are very pretty, and I like the accessorizing. However, those old Icons figs were scaled up Legends, which was incredible...

EDIT:

Now that I think about it, the Cap and Iron Man I viewed also appeared to be up-scaled Legends.

just to butt in to your convo..though i am by no means a Legends expert..i don't' ever recall seeing that captain America (6") anywhere...

and i've seen each of those three 12"inchers for $35.00 MIB in whatever store (major online retailer i believe)I forgot exactly where.
But i remember when i FIRST saw them thinking those prices will def come down eventually..

During Thanksgiving, BBTS put them up for $25.00 each for one day only. I bought all 3 at that price. Never seen the lower than that.

I've seen them go that low. Actually, there are some on sale for 17 and 18 bucks. I like the Thor, Hulk, and Surfer. Which are pricey, of course. lol

I think Hasbro was trying to get their inner Mattel on.

I thought it was supposed to be 8 figures? Old Wolverine, Cyclops, Sunfire, Shatterstar, Polaris, Colossus, Dazzler, and Dark Phoenix.

Dark Phoenix has not (yet) been revealed in this wave. Could she be, sure but so far there's nothing indicating that.

Exactly. Up to this point, we've been assuming that Dark Phoenix would be a store exclusive (likely Walgreens), since Hasbro hasn't made any statements that she'd be a part of the next X-Men wave and we have no evidence to believe she would be (such as a hand-painted test copy, which likely would have been on display at NYCC with the remaining wave-mates, Shatterstar and Old Man Logan).

So yeah, all signs point to Dark Phoenix being either a later release, or some kind of exclusive.

Haha yeah but TF's usually hard to tell if and when they do get a sale, it's 50/50 and depending on the wave too. But with the Titans Return stuff I jumped in on it cause I was able to get all of the below $10 so I was like why not...

I think he is talking about the Icons series a few years back that ToyBiz did and Hasbro followed up with a few others when they took over.
