I NEED NIGHTCRAWLER AND ARCHANGEL...DEBATING ON PAINTING DEADPOOL

man we in the same boat lol. dont u hate when u so close to finishing a team but miss that ONE key part? i might end up getting my deadpool painted too, i dont want to but if i cant find another one then i got to

I've never done any customizing but have you guys ever thought about using Plasti-Dip? It sprays like spraypaint and is almost a rubberized texture. Its tough and durable but can be peeled off inf need be. Could be a good idea for a base coat and then paint the white details over top of that. When you want your red deadpool back just peel the plastidip.

Plastidip is a great product, but not suitable for the purpose you mentioned, as the material is basically liquid rubber that bonds to just about anything. Well the stuff is toxic smelling for starters, but the point of the product is to not come off easily lol. It's true purpose is to cover the ends of tools like screwdrivers and hammers to give them an extra grip. Jin saotome and a lot of other great customizers, do use the product, but it's for symbotic bits that come off venom and carnage or for making spiderman webs and possibly weapons, But I wouldn't use it on a figure like that, as I can picture the removal process envolving scrapping it off aww the horror. I'd test it on a double figure or shitty broken one to see how hard it is to remove after cured for a while before doing it on an expensive DP toy. I haven't used the product myself for customizing, but I have used it when I worked at a hardware store redoing some handles on screwdrivers and it was hard scrapping the original bit off to put on the new coat.

I've plastidipped rims on a car. The secret to easy removal is putting plenty on in nice even thick coats. Only time it was hard for me to remove was when proper coverage wasn't used.

Like I said though never done customizing with plastics

I think on metal it would be fine as it has a solid surace to adhear to and remove from. But with plastics the material is more poris, and flimsy compaired to say alluminum rims. Temporarily may work, but I think if left on over time it would be a bugger to get off.

there will be plenty of big time spider-mans after comic con. just a hunch.....

If you want to mask parts I recommend MicroMask by MicroScale products, great stuff!

I think this would work awesomely for Terrax. Any thoughts?

You know, being mostly into transformers I've been aware of that axe for over a year, and it never occurred to me to pair it with Terrax. Would look pretty cool!

I think the biggest improvement to Terrax for me was giving him Thunderball's arms!

Makes him look wider and beefier, but also allows him to hold his axe with two hands.

And Terrax's arms don't look half bad on T-ball, makes him a tad different than Piledriver.

Glad you like my idea, and I like yours with adding Thunderball arms, I also think a more metalic paint scheme rather then comic would look cool.

Funny you say that, I'm going metallic with him.

He's diassembled but I can probably cobble him together enough for pics, I'm still painting him. Hang on.....

BigHanksCustoms 04-19-2012 11:29 AM

Okay, here's a couple pics, you can see the axe is nice and chromey and the gloves are a deep pearly metallic.

Thunderball thrown in to show he still looks okay with smaller arms.

Wow that's awesome

BigHanksCustoms 04-19-2012 12:21 PM

Thanks! I'm trying to get that rich Bowen statue look, but ML scale!

I'm going to redo the gold parts too, not 100% happy with them, I'll try a different set of paints....

iLegends73 04-19-2012 12:55 PM

And u gave thunderball added articulation with the hinge wrists that terrax had. Bet that would make for some awesome poses

From where I work, I'm always looking especially now that i work with the "undead" and mostly all I've seen has been been for the Avengers. Just two nights ago we got two cases for some MUs, and no, nothing new....(that worries me). I'm betting on Hasbro's "wait and see" on how well their take on the Avengers will do. I was surprised to see how well they have flown off the pegs/shelves!

Hasbro is stepping into some HUGE shoes with the ML line, so far the reception has been very welcoming [$]. Yes they have produced some figures in the past and those have done well despite the very few, but this is different, they're making their MUs bigger....and what better way to wet our lip$ but with these 6"!!
The question I think is can, Hasbro please both collector and consumer alike?? I'm sure Hasbro is well aware of Mattels current estate......(sad shame....)
