Back in my lurker days (I lurked on this site for many months) there was a thread dedicated to figures you wanted to see but you know they were never going to make. Miss that thread. I think it went away because people kept posting no brainers that just hadn't been released yet (like Rogue).

I guess thats what customs are for.

Is Throg coming with Beta Ray Bill? Who else do we need of the Pet Avengers? Hairball and Lockjaw's all, I believe. I thought Zabu was part of the team but nowhere is he listed in the rosters I'm looking at.

Anyway, this makes me happy- Northstar goes through hell for his boyfriend in both Alpha Flight's mini and Astonishing X-Men and they made both into good characters from it.
Hopefully some ass editor down the road does not decide to kill the guy for the obligatory 'charcater reset button" that hosed Spidey, Madison Jeffries, Daredevil, Wanda, Vision and really everyone ever happy in Marvel.

Saw customs of them on ebay that sold for $300 yesterday.

If we're talking about figures we want, i would really appreciate* some more cosmic figures :D

Swap his hands with repainted Skarr hands, repaint the whole fig (that yellow band was poorly done) and you have all the Blob fig you'll ever need.
Looks good with Mystique too- nicely scaled.

Back in the 80's Doctor Stange and a bunch of Nightstalkers (Blade, Hannibal King, etc.) had assembled a magic book called the Darkhold which had a spell to destroy every vampire in the world or turn them back human.
Dracula himself led an attack on the sanctum and when Blade and the rest got their asses kicked, Wong grabbed a broken wooden chair leg and staked Dracula's ass!

Because Drac was crazy powerful just then, it did not kill him, but Wong out -bladed Blade!

I don't think the focus of making it special is as much about profit as it as about drawing attention. Making it special draws media attention, thereby drawing attention to the larger issue, which is the lack of gay rights in a large chunk of this country. I live in Cali and I had friends who lost their rights a few years back when they revoked the marriage law. If Marvel and DC writing these stories helps to put a good spin on the issue of gay rights and helps to get everyone equal rights, then I think it's ok that they make a little money in the process

Good points, Veronica- and it's not something out of the blue either- this was building for some time. It's interesting to see characters with powers married to non-superhero types.
Cage's wife has powers but you'd never know they were anything except "super complaining" every damn issue and Spidey's old non-marriage occasionally worked.
Throg is now a silkscreened decal under Bill's boot.

Puck looks like he's going to grope some woman's butt in that pic.

I wonder of the bird is a straight repaint of falcon's redwing? Looks different, but that could just be the paint.
I'll stick with the bigass owl that comes with the ML Snowbird- it looks impressive on Guardian's arm too!

The larger issue is getting PLENTY of attention right now. Marvel and DC are just trying to get some of that attention on them. They aren't shining a light on a cause, they are hoping to draw eyes their way with a trending topic. Hey, it's business.

When they make them all, I'll buy one of those Warthog jeeps from Halo to run them down with!:mad:

It's possible, but it's also possible they're showing their support, after all Chris Evans who just starred in a huge profit making movie for marvel is a huge supporter of gay rights due to his brother, maybe marvel is choosing to support the cause too. Yes the issue gets press but if things are going to change that means the ball needs to keep rolling

If it was any other writer at Marvel, I'd tend to agree.
As it is, the writer they are using has always had tact with these issues.
Her and Gage I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to on these things over the rest of the Marvel staff because of how much care, tact, and respect they use to cover the hard issues that may help make comic fans who like to stick their heads in the sand pay attention or gain some personal growth.

Not saying it's a terrible thing just obvious what corporate motives are in things like this. If they were genuine they would just publish the issue like anything else without the overages of press releases and marketing then let someone else make a big deal of it if they think it's newsworthy.



I guess I'm more thinking about the editorial directive on this one and how they are marketing it. If any other extremely minor character was getting married (male/female) they wouldn't even think of trying to use it to get publicity.

And then DC's promise of outing a "prominent" character is another clear marketing campaign. I don't know, maybe I've just spent too much time in pitch meetings over the years.
