Comics have often been at the forefront of social issues- drugs, child endangerment/abuse, etc.
Marvel moreso than DC but both contribute to some basic understanding of issues parents might not discuss or that kid would feel akward talking about with adults.

Showing two people in love just wanting to be married and happy is a good thing- opening a kid's mind or showing a gay kid that change really is coming and they dont have to be ashamed to be different is awesome.

I can be okay with this. There are some pretty great opposing opinion articles at Comics Alliance and Comic Book Resources. I tend toward the CBR position. Is this going to rake in a few more dimes for Marvel? Absolutely. It's topical, trending even. Does that suck? Eh. It's only a bad thing if Jean and Kyle aren't treated with respect, but as caricatures and punchlines. So far that doesn't seem to be the case.

I have to say, I'm a fan of Marvel attempting to make gay characters matter. Shatterstar and Richter are... minor? Even Wiccan and Hulkling had to wait more than five years of being in a committed relationship before they could kiss. Putting Jean on a major (sort of major) team and them having him get hitched may seem a little stilted (might be) but it isn't bad socially, and it isn't necessarily bad for comics and comics plot. This is good. It's great. But the story is highlighting Northstar that may actually be more exclusive than inclusive. It is still true that comics does not have strong gay characters that actually matter in their respective universes. Here's to hoping that changes.

I agree that these stories need to be written. I just thinking both companies saying "look this is different" undermines the point that it's NOT different.

Personally, I'm a Christian so Im not for gay marriage obviously. So I gotta stick to my guns. I love them as people though so I'm definitely not hatin. Marvel is just trying to capitalize on the gayness. :p

That depends if you want it for all / most of the figures or just the Hulk. And as for the Destro / Red Skull swap, what Skull figure head are you swapping? I think it only works correctly on the Invaders Red Skull.
