And a turkey leg. http://25.media.tumblr.com/60cc333b7...edbqo1_250.gif |
Got my Sandman wave today and overall I feel pretty meh about it. I have to say as far as QC goes this wave is pretty bad. Might just be the set of figures I got, but I have paint splotches and speckles and no paint where there should be paint. The other issue is packaging, a few of the figures are posed in the package in such a way as to need their joints straightened right out of the box, Black Suit Spidey and Ms. Marvel especially.
Black Suit Spidey – Pretty much exactly what I expected save for the super warped legs. I kind of wish they'd have bothered to include thwipping hands since Pete did have a non symbiote version of this costume. Green Goblin – One of the stand outs of the wave for me, maybe because I don't have any of the previous Green Goblin figures, or maybe because he's one of the 2 figures that has no paint issues. I like the sculpt, I like that they didn't just repack Hobgoblin's glider with him. The right hand on mine pops out super easy and it makes me wish they'd have given us another swappable hand. Spidey 2099 – I'm on the fence. As a figure, and aesthetically he's really cool, mine has paint issues, white splotches here and there, other spots where the white paint should be, but isn't. I also haven't kept up enough with this character and this costume is nothing I'm familiar with. Shocker – What a mess. The paints apps on this one are awful. Brown smudges everywhere. The flat gray knee pads are lame and could use some silver dry brushing. I was looking forward to this one to round out the superior foes, he's definitely going in the back of the display Spider UK – Another character I'm not super familiar with. As a figure he's pretty cool. If the rumors about this mold replacing the bucky cap mold are true I think we're in pretty good shape. I haven't taken a close at this one since I've already sold him off. The Jackal – The other figure I got with no QC issues. He's pretty neat. Having him in hand I share everyone else's fears that they'll try to reuse this buck for Beast, it's too small, don't do it Hasbro. Ms. Marvel – This not a character I wanted or know much about. The figure itself is decent. The gold paint from her torso is everywhere and her knees are bowlegged from the package. As long as you don't swap her arms for the oversized ones she's a solid figure, QC aside. Those oversized arms are a testament to lazy. Why is there no articulation at the wrist? They're also a bit heavy and tend to throw off her balance. Sandman - This one is pretty great, lots of details, decent paint. They did a good job of making him different from the SDCC Sandman. To be honest I feel like this probably should have been the convention exclusive, what with all the extra interchangeable parts. He goes a long way to redeeming the rest of the flaws the wave has. |
I haven't read anything with OML on it sence the original story with Hawkeye, spider girl, cap skull, and the hulk gang, that story really could have had its own ML series with a blind hawk, capskull, ultron with hawaiian shirt, mole men three pack, one of the hillbillie hulks, spider bitch, old man black bolt, and either a baf giant hulk, or symbiot- Saurus. But as for possible accessories for OML, I'm hoping for a long duster coat, (just swap the torso bomber jacket) and hat like his first appearance. Of course he needs interchangeable hands, and a baby hulk papoose.

Did they ever say which characters were going to fill out the second GotG wave beyond Warlock and Death's Head 2?

Gamora (MCU) Rocket (MCU) and either Mantis/Nebula (I doubt they'd do both but we could be lucky) (MCU) Spectrum (comics) - unless she's part of this year's exclusives this is likely the wave she'll fit best in. Thought that would be 3-4 female figures so maybe not. Possible Quasar (comics) Collector (yes, I'm still holding out hope!!! MCU or comics either one is fine with me.) Peter Quill's father (MCU) don't want to post more than that because of spoilers, the news is out there but I don't know if people are avoiding it. Can't really think of anyone else at the moment. I know with the two already revealed that's 10, but one could end up being a BAF (Deaths' head, Collector...). likely remove one of the female figures and you're down to 8 and a BAF. Mantis would be the most likely depending on how much she's in the movie I guess, though Quasar is a bit left of field, but I'd like to get both him and Spectrum in. That would leave very few classic Avengers for me to see done in some kind of form (Sersi, Crystal, Justice, Firestar, Living Lightening). |
Weren't we suppose to get a total of three guardians waves? I'm thinking nebula and mantis will be a sure thing, the only other guarantee in life... no MCU villians! I mean really, who the hell, other than the ultron BAF, have we gotten? I think marvel would be smart to put out a whole wave, or waves of MCU villians.
Whiplash Red skull Malik Crossbones Ronin Chi tari Yellow jacket Mandarin 40's hydra soldiers Baron von strucker Thanos I don't get why they seem to never want to give us any villians? We got two versions of strange, and still no one for him to fight, thank god mordo didn't go full bad, or he'd have been kicked off the roster! |

I don't see teh point of a Guardians Wave 2 when it will never see the light of day on the actual peghooks. Hasbro makes all of these plans but then they don't bother to make sure stores carry ALL of the waves as they tend to only carry the first wave.

MCU Nebulla is all but guaranteed. Honestly, she isn't a very compelling character. Even in "The Legacy of Thanos" arc, an avengers story that featured her prominently in the years leading up to "Infinity Gauntlet," she made for a pretty dull read. People might love all things Thanos, but I find his adopted daughter far more interesting than his supposed granddaughter. I suspect that Spectrum will show in an Avengers wave. I think you know how I feel about Quasar. I've been waiting a while for him. He is likely coming very soon. Like you, I think he may end up being a surprise addition. Good luck with Collector. I don't want him unless he's going to come with ALL of the other Elders. As a one off, Grandmaster is preferable given that he shows up more often and is cooler looking :p I'm not positive that Death's Head II will be a BAF. In pics, he looks huge, but appears to not be BAF huge. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Quote:
Not to mention, didn't Black Vortex get panned? Not that success of story arc has been a lynchpin factor for fig creation, but I think the sour taste the event left in the mouths of many might work to the fig's detriment. Although, I do like the look of the design... |

Finally got around to adding some dry-brushing to Shocker's kneepads, using a bit of silver and black to more closely match the shock gauntlets.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...108_132544.jpg And while I'm on the topic of mods, really quick, I was wondering what some of you might think or prefer in this situation. One of the major issues that I had with Phoenix when the figure came out, was the head. It sat really high on the neck (a problem I have since remedied by sanding down the ball joint a bit so it fits deeper into the socket.) The other was that there was something off about the hair, as it too sat really high on the head, and gave Phoenix a wierd, semi-mullet. A lot of people remedied this by simply swapping out Phoenix's head for the head from Hope Summers, which I wasn't a fan of, as I actually prefer the more refined, mature features of the Phoenix sculpt. So, I decided to swap out the hair pieces from the two, but to do that, I had to shave A LOT off of the Phoenix head, which when done actually fixes the previous issue the original Phoenix's head had of the hair sitting too high on the head, giving the mullet appearance. So, I was just curious which one you guys might like better, before I glue one of these hair pieces back to the headsculpt. It's hard to convey the differences the original Phoenix's head has to my modded version in photo (as I feel there are very few angles, if any, that this figure photographs well from,) but in person, the hair now sits a bit lower, the bangs now cover up the huge forehead the original had, which combined with the lower neck, really helps Jean out a bit. Should I stick with this slightly modded look, or with the newer, shorter haired appearance? http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...108_122200.jpg |
