I appreciate that we have 2 versions of Hank. Blue will be my Beast, Grey will be Dark Beast. I'm glad it's not the cat-face.

Everybody talking about X-men movies, and all I have to say is that Huge Jacked-man better wear that mask before he quits.

And that's mainly because Wolverine is one of the few X-men that I actually like.

Man that would be awesome...but doubtful, :wolv

Snowflakian 05-22-2016 12:20 AM

X-Men: Apocalypse is worth seeing.
And it fits in the continuity so well. Fixes some spots too after the timeline reset of DOFP. So worth seeing.

One word on why. "Quicksilver."
And even the wolverine fans will be happy.
And the workaround for Angel was pretty genius though subtle, so if you aren't observant you might miss it. But yeah, there is a simple reason why Angel is in this and it doesn't impact his appearance in the now non-existing in the timeline X-Men 3.

Genuinely makes me excited for the Fox X-Men movies again. Looking forward to what they do next.

Well hey guys I managed to find some Xmen movie merchandise on the shelves... It's apocolypse?

Joke all you want, but I gotta say, to me the movie was as good as Civil War but in a different way. Though some of the action scenes could have used some work a little. Bryan Singer seems to not be on the Russo Brothers kind of level for that, but he did try. Other set pieces though, OMFG so good.

It genuinely makes me excited for them to do another X-Men movie. The push for a better comic feeling is definitely there. Even apocalypse was nowhere near as bad as people kept saying it was from the early photos. Though the opening to it does make one wonder how long before the Shi'ar are added to the films.

Apocalypse comes nowhere near Ivan Ooze kind of bad or purple. This film is definitely on par with DOFP, and even outdoes it in spots. They are definitely going more accurate with some changes yes, but about as many changes as the MCU had done to theirs too.

It's been becoming increasingly rare that I recommend films, but if there are only 2 films you see this year in the superhero genre, Civil War and X-Men apocalypse are it. Alex Shipp as Storm was freaking perfect too.

The best way to describe it, this is what the first 3 X-Men movies should have been if they weren't hindered by so much interference and technology constraints of the time. Fox still needs to find their "Russo Brothers" kind of action director, but I've got extreme faith in the production crew and producers now. The film really surprised me on how well handled it was overall.

They might want to consider moving the director of Deadpool itself over to X-Men. Or something. That's kind of my only complaint about the film at all. Singer does some great scenes, and the quicksilver scenes are awesome, but other spots still feel like they are missing something in the action dynamics. It teases and gives some good oomph, but it's not quite there yet in other spots. Really close though. I might be harder to please on that though thanks to RvB and other material I've been immersed in over the years that also blows Marvel out of the water up until they hired the Russos.

Apocalypse is my favorite villain and I think Oscar Isaac is a wonderful actor so I'm hopeful that I'll enjoy this version of the character even if it's not totally in line with his comics persona. Ultron was quite different in the movie but I still found him entertaining as a villain. Very recently I saw Civil War and they could have chosen to not have Daniel Brühl be Helmut Zemo with all of the changes they made but I still found him to be a good villain, maybe even my second favorite in the MCU.

To be fair it is possible I came up with the name first then just kept the profile pic in line with that and won't change either because of my pride in a simple word swap.

That's good to hear, I plan on seeing it next week. Yeah I have noticed that directors seem to make or break a movie more than a producer typically. I love the Russo brothers too, I can't wait to see their take on an avengers movie.

At this point we gotta see a mother friggin skurge! They have the mold/designs and showed him years ago. It does seem like Hasbro does release characters a little bit to coincide with the movies, even if they are comic versions. Also would love to see Hela in this scale, especially if it's cate blanchett.

Madame Warlock 05-22-2016 12:00 PM

Seeing it on Tuesday... kinda depressing though since there's no real X-men merch anymore. my dream would be to get a whole New Mutants line, as I really want a Magik, Karma etc.

Also I really want the new Vision and gamora really bad but not sure how's best to go about getting them... trip to dublin maybe?

Glad to see a positive review. I'm really looking forward to X-men: Apocalypse.

Hmmm. With that whole "female villains = less toys" thing that came out about Iron Man 3, I'm really interested to see what kind of merchandise MCU Hela will get.

Hmmm. Given no Mandarin from IM3, no Malekith from Thor: the Dark World, no Yellowjacker from Antman that's just three main villains from the MCU which went MIA in 3.75" scale. And no MCU Guardians of the Galaxy figures either. Given the absence of Pepper Potts/Jane Foster/Peggy Carter in this scale (and the whole Agents of SHIELD cast)I have no expectation that a MCU Hela will get produced.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that. That wasn't Hasbro's call from the sounds of it, and from the looks of it they kind of rebelled against it themselves. That kind of fits with previous comments that it was a higher up on the movie side that said it. Similar to what was said about Age of Ultron(though that one's complicated) and Force Awakens.

Ironman 3 toys had no villains at all. It was the Assemblers that focused on only Ironman and War Machine.

I think Hasbro may surprise us soon with some wave revisions to how they do figures hopefully.

Especially now that Disney has removed Perlmutter from impacting the MCU and hopefully the comics too. It seems he may have been the majority of the source for some of the bigger issues.

By MCU Hela merchandise, I was kinda encompassing toys, posters, school supplies, clothing, etc. all together. Really interested to see if she'll be in the villain spotlight for Thor: Ragnarok promotional materials or if she'll be replaced with Skurge.

I picked up the Ultimate Spidey cartoon Arnim Zola today. Even I'm having a hard time justifying that one. Maybe the wife DOES have a point.

Naaaah.

Mandarin got 2 figures in MU and wasn't the main bad guy anyway. I wouldn't want that Mandarin as a figure. I think Malekith got a figure but it was very hard to find, like Heimdall hard. I know the regular Dark Elf was hard to find.

As far as the GotG go, Groot am Groot.

TheLongestDay 05-23-2016 04:53 PM

Just watched X-Men Apocalypse and I have to admit I was WRONG.

Ive been decidedly "meh" on literally everything Ive seen from this movie since shooting began and Im not overly keen on the X-Movies in general (First Class is my fave, DOFP has its moments but overall felt like a missed opportunity...the rest...eeehhhh)

I am very happy to say I LOVED this one, it really felt like an X-MEN movie (at last) and has me excited for the next one.

Yes I still had some fanboy gripes (why the hell was Jubilee in this?!?! Surely the next one being set in the 90's wouldve made a better setting for the character?!?! Also, yes Angel is pretty poo and Quicksilver is waaaaaay over powered) but all in all this delivered what Ive wanted to see onscreen since I first fell in love with these characters when I was just a wee boy.

Just one thing FOX.....never EEEEEEEEVER put them in black costumes again!!!!!!!!

I am almost 100% sure there was no Malekith.

Just googled. All I can find are customs that mainly use the Dark Elf and the CE head from that GI Joe movie.

I am 100% sure there was no Malekith. Just easy to make. I got the head from Vortious for just that reason.
