Just got invited to Marvel heroes beta. So unless it will disappoint the crap out of me, im leaving this playdom moneypile for a long time.

Congrats! I can't wait to jump over to Marvel Heroes too. Love those Diablo-ish games.

Also have a beta key for it and got a free starter pack of my choosing. Grabbed the Iron Man. I get beta keys every week for games I never even try.. :( I used to play WoW hardcore style and was in a top 5 guild NA.. so we were asked that Blizzard take our emails for betas, testing, promos, etc. Shortly after I started receiving all kinds of invites to games. Played every single one in college, but now, with a kid, job, etc. there's just no way!

So any way, I also hope Heroes takes off and is super fun. But I do dump money into games when they deserve it and am fearful what that game may do to my wallet..

Still no word from Playdom regarding me .5% error, so sad, not surprised though.

someone on Playdoms board had gotten to .5 percent for Cable and said they had not gotten a response ...this was last week they posted it

It's a free to play Diablo clone, and happens to be made by the creators of Diablo 1 and 2. You play as Marvel Heroes, not a made up character or ridiculous agent.

TBH, as I play the game, I've realised it should come out of closed beta stage very soon. So far the game feels complete to me with just some minor quibbles.

That's it about MH, this is MAA post after all :)

I need to make time and play beta.. my invite is just sitting there taunting me!

Playdom is on my short list of companies I will never get involved with after MH comes out. I'm glad I only spent $1 on this game. The game mechanics itself are decent (even if it's just a pokemon rehash), just all the bs cash grab tactics around it make it hard to enjoy for me.

Well picked up Pym in my alt on Saturday so it is nice to have him in both accounts. Helping my wife and older daughter who are on the second weapon training. Even with the time left if they play it they should have Pym if they want him. Easiest Ops out of all of them. Now if this was 1 again that would be real hard. Killed myself getting MB.

Is it truly free though, what's with all the ultimate package and so forth that's like a $$$
Heck ya agree with you there! Glad they resorted to only having to 3 star instead of 5 when it was MB.

It's a lot like most "free to play" games nowadays. League of Legends is a prime example and one of the biggest online games in history. They are free. You can literally spend $0 and play forever. However, people will want outfits/skins, buffs, quicker access to heroes or abilities, and can pay to do so. The difference though, is unlike Playdom, you can still achieve everything. By spending cash every month you just get there quicker than others, but people playing for free will be able to access everything (other than cosmetic things - outfits/skins/fun things etc.) eventually. Certain things will be cash only, but if it is cash ONLY then these things you purchase will not make you better than anyone else. Weapons, buffs, abilities etc. will always be available to achieve without spending cash as well. Only cosmetic things should be cash only.

In League of Legends you have so much fun playing you typically want more champions and some cool looking skins so you drop some bucks here and there. Next thing you know, you've played for 3+ years like me and have spent hundreds.. but honestly... don't regret it!

The model really works when the game/product they deliver is super fun because people will want to spend money. Playdom forces you to.

Ah I see cool. Probably too intense to play at work though haha:P But I'll try from home then, hopefully the pc requirements isn't much, but I am running an I3.

Like quinten182 said, the game is totally free in the sense that paying players *shouldn't* have an outright advantage over free players. From my understanding, they only get a shortcut to drops (aka costumes and more characters), whereas free players have to rely on random drops for the same thing (I imagine the goodies will be pretty rare, but still attainable).

I just hope they keep it this way.
