Also just watched Xmen apocolypse... What a joyless 2 hours, I wish singer would step down. I mean it was watchable, and Sophie turner was pretty good as Jean. Even stans cameo wasn't fun, it was like the whole movie was just kind of going through the motions. I would love to see the Russo bros or wheden get a crack at marvels merry mutants. If others liked it more power to them... Who knows maybe my expectations from the comics and the 90s cartoon are just too high. |

Russo's though. Yes please. Though marvel has them tied up for the next 5+ years. Singer might need a rest. He could have director fatigue from too many too fast. Though I have to admit it was nice to see him up his action choreography game a bit more. Plus with a new family addition, he might want the time off anyway to rest and spend time with his kid. And he's said he wants to take a brief break for now on X-Men movies to do something else. Which would be great. Him experimenting on techniques in other movies only means if he comes back to do an X-men movie later, he'll have improved more too. So by all means let him test out some new techniques elsewhere before coming back! Nothing wrong with working out the kinks with your craft before you go full throttle on a massive franchise again. And the next movie needs to have that teamwork dynamic. The films have been kind of lacking in that. X1-3 it's understandable, not enough budget for it and tech wasn't there yet. Then First Class to Apocalypse, they weren't a team and haven't really trained together yet. Now they have. So the next movies, the team needs to work like clockwork. Like a team should. I kind of want to see the director of "Stick it" handle an X-Men movie. Or at least the cinematographer from that movie. It's a gymnastics movie, but how it does the camera work and the director choices, those are towards the kind of flair an actual team working together needs to have. I'd say hire the action director from Red vs Blue outright, but that's not possible anymore. T_T |

Oooh the collector. I don't know, the rest of the characters don't appeal to me...cosmic stuff is usually just not my thing. but a collector figure would be nice.

Life & vacation has derailed my usual custom schedule, but have a nice slate of characters on tap. Coming soon!
On a plus note, since I was on vacation I was able to hit a Five Below down south and was able to pick up a bunch of Valkyries I've been needing for a slate of fem figures I have planned. Those in addition to some figures on sale at HTS have given me a nice collection of fodder, so plenty more customs in the pipe at this point. I'm going to avoid the rather strange comic talk these days and echo the sentiment that I'm glad I stopped collecting issues when I did. I'll stick to my nostalgia stories, thank you very much. The current comic landscape has just gotten way too weird for my tastes. :D Edit: And speaking of "nostalgia stories", was reading some old digital X-Men issues last night. The first Alpha Flight appearances up thru Dark Pheonix saga. Didn't know Colleen Wing was that old of a character and that her and Misty Knight (custom on tap in my current batch) were in X-Men issues. Was a nice surprise. Chris Claremont wrote some great stories back then. |

Oooh Great job on Wasp! Still need to make a Wonder Man in that outfit. Eventually. He's way down the slate of customs at this point, but given how my list changes all the time, who knows, might get to him sooner rather than later. Going to see if I can knock out a few of the customs I have mostly done and get a few more started tonight. Cheers to all! :) |
