As obvious it sounds I loved the movie, the story the music. I love 70's music. I mean I will wholeheartedly listen to 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's music. I just remember to listening to the radio with my father when I was a kid which made it nostalgic. It was also fucking hilarious. Most people didn't know about Guardians from a comic standpoint but when I heard about it and saw featurettes before the movie even came out. I'm like damn this sounds like IT'S GOING TO BE AN AMAZING MOVIE. Also I am a Sci-Fi fan so it appealed to all the parts of myself.

I personally love the movie when I can step out of the "but that's not this way" attitude. Thankfully I generally fall into the "HELL YEAH Groot is on the big screen!" mentality. That being said, aspects of the movie thoroughly annoyed me such as Star Lord's overall attitude. It was just so contrary to every way he was depicted up to that point that it felt out of place. I would have also much preferred a villain other than Ronan as I prefer the sort of anti-hero to superiority obsessed jackwad version of him. I am still very optimistic about GotG2 and already love what I saw in the trailers. I just hope that (should he appear at all) James "I hate Nova" Gunn does not ruin Richard. He already made a joke of the Nova Corps. More cosmic based Legends...WIN! |

The way I look at it is another GotG film success opens more doors for further cosmic based characters in film and as Legends. The upcoming Sue figure is a good sign that we may get more characters that would fall into Fox's film rights even without a companion film. Since a fair number of cosmic races/characters (Skrulls and Silver Surfer) are most likely also part of that split it is encouraging to see that we may not have to suffer in the Legends department despite companion film tie-ins.
I will be honest, I just want a really well done Cosmo. I love that dog. Slap him riding on the front of Surfer's board with Nova flying beside and I can call it a day LOL! |

Agents of Shield has especially failed at this, and it feels like it's own entity, as opposed to running along side by side with the MCU. I mean, shouldn't Coulson have appeared by now in one of the MCU films since, at least to say hi to his friends who probably still think he's dead? The MCU connection was why I started watching AoS in the first place and the lack of that same MCU outside of the occasional rrference has been the reason I have since tuned out. |
