Watching Behind The Mask: The Batman Dead End Story, a documentary about the fan film. Turns out the director of the fan film was also an action figure sculptor and the ML onslaught was just shown. Cool movie and interesting crossover.

Well the X-Men movies don't count because they aren't Marvel Studios movies. That is why I laugh when people are like, "You complain about DC movies being bad, but what about Elektra, Ghost Rider, Spiderm-Man 3, etc?"

It seems like people don't understand the difference between Marvel themselves doing the movies and another studio licensing the properties from Marvel to make a movie. Two complete different things while DC movies have always been WB because they are owned by WB.

I'm sorry, but that is bullshit. I hate it when writers and people put their personal feelings into these characters. They are making the characters for the fans, NOT for themselves. If you can't respect the fans enough to give them the characters then you don't deserve to be in charge of that property.

Brownfinger 01-25-2017 11:13 PM

Yeah, Gunn never said anything close to that.
He said that he wanted Quill to be the only human in the movies, reasons stated above.
Frankly, the Spartaxian stuff in the books is pretty boring with Bendis handling it. I'm fine with Gunn punting it out the door. The Guardians movies aren't nearly the roaring success they've been without his influence. Let men and women of vision create, I say!

Such as the case of Sam Raimi, who was vocal about his disdain for Venom, but was forced by the studio to lump him into Spider-Man 3 because "that's what the fans wanted..."

Whether or not the film would have been better had he got the Vulture like he wanted is debatable, but we can all agree that Venom (who is typically a lone wolf) had no business being in that movie to share the spotlight with two other villians trying to kill Spidey. The film might have been better if the studio had not forced all of those plot lines (in addition to the dancing and crying) in addition to the Sandman and Harry's story arcs to begin with.

Studios tend to forget (and Marvel Studios is starting to become guilty of this as well...) sometimes less is more...

I understand stand thats why i said the only Marvel Movies I like are The MCU ones. I'm all in with them I'm going to have to see everyone of them.....Like the Xmen aren't MCU neither was that Abomination New Fantastic Four Movie or the 3rd Toby Spidey but thats why they are terrible (Especially the fantastic four) what were they thinking the 1st two Toby Spideys were good. And I actually liked The New Dc movies for some reason. I didn't See the Tremendous hate for BVS i know its not The Best but it ain't the worst movie i have seen. Some scenes are bad yeah but overall i liked it

This has been the one aspect where the MCU has failed if you ask me. Now I can understand why heroes like Cap and Thor would have little interest in the goings on in downtown NYC, yet at the same time, it would also be nice if they were actually mentioned by name in the shows, or to even have a cameo appearance of some sort, be on a show newscast or actually showing up to greet the up and coming heroes. How cool would it have been to seen Daredevil spotting Spider-Man on his way home from a night of crime fighting with his radar sense, or Tony Stark showing up to try and get Luke off the hook and recruit him for his upcoming battle with Cap as he was being taken away...

Agents of Shield has especially failed at this, and it feels like it's own entity, as opposed to running along side by side with the MCU. I mean, shouldn't Coulson have appeared by now in one of the MCU films since, at least to say hi to his friends who probably still think he's dead? The MCU connection was why I started watching AoS in the first place and the lack of that same MCU outside of the occasional rrference has been the reason I have since tuned out.

Yeah man thats is exactly what im talkin about! That Daredevil spotting Spiderman was what i was wanting to see the whole time that would be awesome and I wonder why Coulson hasn't been in a Single MCU Movie since avengers it doesn't make sense. Especially since they killed him off then he is back alive so he should be thrilled to get back to the Avengers but hasn't yet. And he was Actually a Great character in the Avengers

Part of the reason (at least for why he didn't appear in Age of Ultron) is because Joss Whedon was pissed that they brought Coulson back to life in Agents of SHIELD, making his death kinda meaningless, and chose to treat Coulson as if he were dead (aka: not have him appear and make no reference to him).

At least, that's what I heard.

That's because Coulson was announced dead to the world, so saying he is alive again would bring too many questions to the public, especially since they used Kree blood to bring him back. They can't have that, and thus, he is still assumed dead by everyone outside of their little group.

Maybe you guys should watch the show before complaining about the details.

K Dubious 01-26-2017 08:09 AM

I read at one point either Whedon said that Coulson's story no longer intertwines because he is dead and that AoS is no longer canon since he still exists there.

Which is somewhat contradicted with the actions from Winter Soldier as well as AoU. Though the tiny piece in Ultron could have been missed if you weren't paying attention.

I do think they name drop in the Netflix and ABC shows often enough, but it is really odd that NO ONE EVERS CAMEOS!

Also this was hilarious and kind of awkwardly addresses what we are all talking about, 2:55 if you don't want to watch the whole clip

Got around to making a simple flight stand for my Strange Army, now I just need to see this movie...

Brother you and i are 100% agreed here. I did like gotg number one cause it had a retro 80's feel of ice pirates meets chronicles of riddick but i really disliked gunn after i read the interview with him when asked about nova. Rick Rider is an essential cosmic character...but it seems thats its okay to disregard him in favor of captaon miss warbird marvel. Sorry but nova is , at least in my opinion, more essential than carol.....but thats just me.

See, here's the thing, Gunn never said he hated Nova, just that he wasn't a character he wanted to use. Gonna copy-paste from an article/interview piece on CosmicBookNews:

Quote:

Kevin Feige recently stated Richard Rider Nova was in an early script of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but they came to a "fork in the road" and cut the character out.
Quote:

"I think certain people really like Nova. Quite honestly, I really don't care. He's not a favourite character. I don't know whether he's ever going to show up.

I think they serve a purpose? I like the Nova Corps, I just don't like Nova that much! He's okay, you know? I just don't like that helmet!"
Which, tbh, is well within his rights as director and writer - unless there's any mandate from Feige and/or others above him, he's under no obligation to use any characters he doesn't want to use.

A few other comments from Gunn gathered by browsing the tangled web:

Quote:

I don't want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important... I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn't serve the movie right this moment."
Quote:

"I think there is always a chance of a Nova movie," Gunn said. "I don't think it's something I would do. But it's possible."
Honestly, he seems pretty indifferent about the character, and if Marvel's not pushing him to use Nova, and Nova wouldn't fill a vital role in the story being told, I think it's just fine for him to not use the guy. After all, unless the MCU lasts for a few decades, we're not going to get all the characters we want to see, even if they're higher-profile ones. Case in point: I'm still waiting for Hercules to show up.

Who is Complaining? Your the one with the smartass comment. And I do watch the shows... All I stated is that I didn't like GOTG. they should have left Coulson dead the way they brought him back was stupid as hell....He was dead leave it at that but they had to bring him back for the TV which Agents of Shield is kind of a Disappointment..Especially with the way they killed off Lincoln where he kinda sacrificed himself.

Dude Couldn't Agree more! I would much rather have Rick Rider Nova movie then A Ms Marvel movie.

Well regardless gunns disdain for the cannon ( and mainly my ire at him makin ego quills dad which really just cocks up his entire origin and destroys a really big part of starlords story ) is what bothers me. Perhaps that article said he wasnt gonna use him but there was another one when asked ( mighta been entertainment weekly or a yahoo intview cant remember cause it was a couple years ago so forgive if im misquoting ) why he wouldnt gunn said he never cared for rick rider nova and thus had no desire to use him or even cameo him. And gotg would have really been the place to gove nova a spring board to his solo film ala black panther in civil war.

On a sad note....Veteran Star Mary Tyler Moore passed away at age 80. :(

Thing is, the MCU has already been playing fast and loose with the comics canon, as is a necessity for adaptation - you're streamlining decades worth of continuity, thousands of characters and stories, into something that the GenPop can access easily and enjoy. Will certain elements be cut, for a variety of reasons? Of course they will. Because there's no way any film, tv show, animated series, or anything will be a 'perfect' adaptation of a medium without doing some trimming here and there.

Quill in the MCU is already a lot different from Quill in the comics, even if the comics are being influenced by the films these days. Him having a different origin isn't an affront to the character, since it's a different version. Having Ego be his father rather than J'Son (oh god, that name) provides for a different story that, in the end, may be more entertaining as a movie plot than all the crap with Spartax (personally, I have yet to find anything engaging about the whole Spartax background).

As for Nova, even if Gunn doesn't have any desire (or direct mandate) to use him, that doesn't really mean anything in regards to Ryder's future in the MCU. After all, this is a massive beast of a thing that's gonna keep going for quite a few years yet.

True and its not like i wont see gotg 2.... Its just a lil sad that gunns ego ( no pun intended ;) ) is getting in the way of quills origin unless ego turns out to have been j'sonn ( i agree man its like the whole kryptonian name thing ) all the time. At least jack burton is him so its a consolation ( kurts been one of my fave actors since the first time i saw big trouble in lil china )

I just really hope for a nova movie......especially since hes alive again ( at least until bendis ruins that too :p )

does anyone have an Agent Coulson\Chameleon body for trade\sale, or just have it for fodder??

God, so much this.
In the hands of a better writer, maybe? It's a bit late now, though. Quill as a character in the comics isn't really defined by where he came from. He's not particularly well-defined in the books, period. Lately, they've been trying to borrow his style from the movies, with mixed success. He's moved pretty far away from what he was when Giffen revived the character for Annihilation, which I thought was Grade A prime cut Star Lord.
Quill's dad was calling himself "Mister Knife" the last time I saw him in a book, so yeah. Not too upset that they're electing to not use comic book pages as their movie script.

I don't know if they're going to make Avengers movies after Infinity War, but there doesn't seem to be super hero fatigue yet because these things are selling. They're going to keep making them, and probably pass the torch to another group. A Nova movie is absolutely not out of the question, Rich is a headliner. And it'll be cast well with an exceptional script because the people in charge of those things at Marvel are better at their jobs than most people are at theirs!

Brownfinger 01-27-2017 04:59 AM

Okay, come clean.
You asked for shots of the crotch, didn't you. XD

Man, that is some nice detail sculpted into the pants, though. Glad you asked!

warmachine6 01-27-2017 05:40 AM

i think i might be sold in that star lord figure , you can now stick his guns on his sides like the movie, hmmmm

Dare I say he's the new Gambit?!?
(ruuunnnnnnn!!!!)

At the moment, I feel the comic GOTG are better suited for a three panel a day funny like Garfield than the charming space pirates they pretend at being for the span of an entire comic.
I can imagine Marvel tries to balance their output, meaning some titles end up with gravitas, and some with mind numbing emptiness, but it hurts my brain every-time I try reading an issue.

Could be my fever talking though... :D

Let me try that again.
I feel the comic GOTG borrows more from the Disney Channel cartoon at the moment, than it does from the MCU. This is not a positive development in my opinion.
