Today's haul. I have been wanting to get some of the cosmic Marvel figures from Disney Infinity to put on my desk for a while. Drax and Ronan were on sale when I went to Gamestop with my buddy today. While not a big Venom fan outside of the Flash Thompson version, I like the look of the Infinity figure so I snagged it too. The button was a gift from my friends.

Sooo... it was only a matter of time, but I think I'm going to reluctantly jump into the world of POP Vinyl collecting. My collection has only been in the single digits for quite some time, but despite the sometimes questionable QC, I'm starting to develop an affinity for these things.
It all began a few weeks ago, when I found out about the upcoming Steven Universe (Hot Topic exclusive) POP Vinyls, and decided that I'd most definitely be buying them when they came out on 12/14 (today). Then, that got me thinking that if I was going to add Steven Universe POPs to my collection, that I should also focus on other franchises (most of which I prefer over Steven Universe) that are under-represented when it comes to merchandise; franchises like Supernatural, Army of Darkness, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, etc... Then, I figured I might as well round out my collection of POPs from huge franchises/companies, like Marvel and Star Wars, just to keep my collection balanced, lol. So, today, after picking up a couple of Steven Universe POPs, I tracked down a few POPs that were pretty high on my list. Later this week, I plan on swinging by my local comic shop, which has hundreds upon hundreds of POPs in stock (it's the largest selection I've ever seen at any retailer EVER) and MovieStop, since they also have a pretty good selection. I just hope that I can exercise a little self-control and not blow any more of my Christmas shopping budget on these things, lol ! http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/z...pst8ov9s59.jpg Oh yeah, I also picked up the Black Series Titanium Slave 1, since I'm contemplating whether or not I want to start collecting the Star Wars Titanium vehicles again. |
you have started down a seriously dark path my friend..haha..
i don't think ANY line has the licensing that POPs have... |
^
Yep, lol, I've managed to reign in my action figure collecting (well, mostly) and my sneaker collecting, and I've REALLY been fighting the urge to give record collecting another chance, so POPs may be my primary collecting focus and indulgence for a while. I'm really hoping I don't go crazy with the POPs. I have friends who spend way too much time and money tracking down the exclusives at places like Walgreens, Hot Topic, B&N, etc... and it seems more stressful than fun. |

A while back, I went to buy Sam and Dean from Supernatural, and was annoyed that they just looked like two generic, nondescript white guys. And, while the hit-or-miss QC still drives me crazy, something about POPs has begun to appeal to me. I still have no interest in Funko's ReAction line though, lol. I can understand and appreciate why some collectors like them, but they're just not for me. |

Reguarding Funko Pops. With Iron Man being my favorite hero I told myself I'd only buy the iron man pops. I got the AOU Iron Man, Avengers 1 Iron Man, and Hulkbuster all at the same time and was pretty excited. Then I picked up a few of the other AOU Avengers. I quickly got bored of them specially since I also collect Legends, Black Series, and now DBZ Figuarts. They just don't really appeal to me anymore. I already sold most of them, and will most likely be selling off AOU, Avengers 1, and Hulkbuster Iron Man pretty soon and use that money towards more Figuarts or Legends.

Holy Pops collection Wolvie! I am really happy I have not gotten into Pops collecting other than a Groot and Master Splinter. I am not a fan of bobble heads so the fact the Marvel ones (that I would be most likely to buy) all seem to be bobble heads has helped me dodge that bullet.

Finally picked this one up and did some head swapping with the Target Exclusive

Funko pops are addicting, i got into them about a year or so ago. i also like the larger ones. just recently bought the Godzilla one, very cool looking.

Day 2 of my POP spree :
http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/z...pssomt8zc4.jpg Right now, I feel as if I have a decent foundation that I can begin to build upon. Also, I decided to tempt fate and pick up one of the leftover Black Friday Funko Mystery Boxes at a local GameStop. Since my tastes in figures and collectibles are normally very specific, I was feeling pessimistic and worried that only 1 out of the 5 items might actually be worthwhile. However, I got VERY lucky, and I'm excited about all five of the items in the box. Lol, I realize that last night I said that I still have no interest in the ReAction figures, but, I'm pretty satisfied with these. Actually, in the past, I had been tempted to pick up the Xenomorph from Alien, since he was based on the figure from the cancelled Kenner line, and it looks like fate decided I should have it ! http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/z...psxny8zdvs.jpg |
