Thanks for the input. I did end up making the trip to ollie's and determined that the scale was correct and bought the marvel figure I had in mind for the custom. Sadly, there were only 3 Dustys left (I swear there were at least 20 a few weeks ago) and all 3 left had terrible QC issues.
Anyway, the legs do fit loosely, but I'm in the process of modifying them and I think they will work just fine when I'm done. The issue was that the legends hip balls go out sideways, while classifieds go down at a diagonal angle. Deepening the socket diagonally with a drill bit has helped the fit. |
Livestream next Tuesday (6/4). I am dreading a HasLab announcement.
|
That's cool I guess. Except for Torch and the new Beachead, I'm pretty much done with GI Joe at this point. They've covered every must own character and then some for me.
I'll have to pass on whatever this year's Haslab is since I'm now unemployed. |
I hope it is the Rattler, since I would probably feel okay skipping that. I worry that it would be a Thunder Machine with a bunch of unmade Dreadknocks, with Thrasher, Monkeywrench, Road Pig, and Zandar as the unlockables.
Also the rumored leaks I saw were: Retro Carded Cobra Commander Retro Carded Cobra Officer Storm Shadow V2 Alpine Iron Grenadier Iron Grenadier BAT Marauders Sgt Slaughter Cobra Stinger w/ Driver 60th Anniversary Marine 60th Anniversary Halo Jumper |
I hope not for CC. I'm still trying to sell my extra Haslab one. Them releasing him in retail would make the Haslab one worthless.
|
The Haslab one will be slightly different, with the Mickey Mouse Cobra logo. I wouldn't be surprised if the standard release is a different shade of blue and comes with less or different accessories.

I think it is because everyone knew that it would be getting a slightly altered retro carded release. If someone didn't back the Haslab it's better to wait it out than to pay a lot for it.
|
New joes shown off.
Except for Alpine, I think the other three look terrible. Like the Iron Grenaider doesn't even remotely look close to being the original version. It looks more like that movie Destro figure that had come out where he wore a business suit. YUCK!! Storm Shadow looks way too bulky and I have no interest with the gold and red BAT. |
Storm Shadow looks like someone over thought a basic design. He's needs more junk around his waist! Head looks smallish compared to Alpine, too, maybe.
The Iron Grenadier reminds me of the Collectors Con versions for 25th/Modern. They rejected the sci-fi 80's look, except the head, and went European early 20th century. |

I don't like that the retro carded Cobra Commander has a vac metal faceplate. Mainly because that should have been included on the Haslab version which was a premium product.

SDCC exclusive was announced yesterday, and it was the Once a Man Cobra Commander. I think it looks cool, and I will probably try and order one when/if it pops up on Pulse after the con, but at the same time I am fine if I don't get it? So for me it is the perfect exclusive. But I guess based on this, the Nemesis Immortal, Hasbro will also be making a Golobulus and a Royal Guard sooner rather than later. Which I am kind of conflicted on cause I think that they are kind of lame in the terms of G.I. Joe but interested cause I think that they would make cool figures. At least a modern Golobulus could probably do more than just lay on the ground.

Hasbro pisses me the hell off. Without warning, these two arrived today:
https://i.imgur.com/0R8Qt7w.jpg And OF COURSE I end up with a defective Torch. I'm going to have to have Amaon ship me a replacement. His right leg is so loose that he can barely stand up and it keeps sliding off the ball. https://i.imgur.com/W2NLhOU.jpg He is also quite annoying because this is the one time they should have given him the left/right wrist hinge instead of the up/down one because I can't get him to hold his blowtorch gun for shit. https://i.imgur.com/dF0lELO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/e5BUuSi.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Ec2Vwrv.jpg |

They're sculpted on. I wish they had done the same on Ripper and Buzzer. |

My Torch (along with Jinx and Gnawgahyde) arrived today, and my Torch had his left arm unattached at the shoulder peg. So I pushed it back in and it seems good and tight. But I do agree that the glasses being sculpted on is an improvement over the last two Dreadnoks.
About the wrist articulation, I think that one of Hasbro's biggest problems with this line (and I guess with the Marvel Legends too) is that they have a "one size fits all" mentality when it comes to articulation, and don't think to possibly revise joints when a character may need something different for either holding a weapon or how it would be used. So you end up with archer characters that can't hold their bows properly or characters with larger weapons that require two hands to hold that are unable to weld them correctly. |
