Looking back at a number of recent BAFs (Space Venom, MCU Giant-Man, Abomination, Onslaught, and Juggernaut), there's no calf rotation on them, either. And I know plenty of other BAFs don't have it either from the past couple years. I'd assume it's to lessen the parts count, to balance out the size of the figures. |

If this is the case then I apologize for jumping to that conclusion, and will at least feel a little better that they did not remove it from Titus. Just found another Starlord for the exchange, and thankfully Walgreens honored the discounted price and didn't force me to pay the difference since I was at a different store with different pricing. Then again, saying that it was a gift for a Chris Pratt crazed wife certainly didn't hurt my case...lol. Hopefully this one isn't as fragile as the last one was. |
I love these new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 MCU Marvel Legends. They joined my display over the weekend. My sister asked me "how many figures do you think you'll have by the end of phase 3?" I'm at 61 right now...LOVE IT!

I went to two different Walgreens today. The first one had DareDevil, Ant-Man, Namor, and Phoenix. The second one had DareDevil, Venom, Spider-Gwen, Morbius, Ben Reily Spidey, and Vance Astro.
No Darkhawk for me. :-( |
@Boy Blunder...
So after I got home, I took a quick look at Space Knight Venom and Titus, and sure enough, you were as right as rain. It's the same sculpt, meaning that there is no bootcut/calf swivel. The difference though is that in the case of Titus, for some reason they either did a slight re-tooling to give the appearance of Titus wearing a separate pair of boots (as opposed to actually sculpting a pair,) or made a boot cut in the pre-production phase and later changed their mind by keeping the leg a single solid piece. It's very deceptive looking and I kinda wish they didn't do it, because it's something that I can imagine someone breaking their BAF over trying to get the damn thing to work when it won't. You can see this faux boot cut in the photo... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...214_190314.jpg As I mentioned earlier, I was able to find another Starlord today and make an even exchange thanks to the other figure being broken. This figure had nearly the same exact issue on the same ankle, with it being stuck as it came out of the package. I cut around the plastic though, and was able to free it up with a generous hot water treatment. Since this has happened to me twice with two different figures, I'm gonna recommend that people take care with the figure when it's fresh out of the box, especially with the left ankle. I have a feeling this is going to be a widespread thing like the Symbiote Spidey shoulder issue and more people than not will end up having to deal with it. Having had the figure out of the box for a while, I enjoy it, however I still stand by my statements about the QC issues. It's amazing how much farther we have come with movie sculpts for the MCU figures in such short period of time, and gives me hope we might actually get a Chris Evans Cap head that actually looks like Chris. I also love how the accessories from the original Star Lord figure work with the new one, and the newer paint app touch ups on his blasters and his mask are really well done. And if any of you are wondering, the new heads DO fit on the older MCU and EE Starlords, the jackets are also swappable and the hands are easily removable from the figure without having to use heat... And with that...here's a couple of a-holes for you...with the original a-hole brandishing the new blasters and helmet... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...214_193933.jpg |

^ I agree... MCU is different from the comics anyway. I mean Thor became unworthy and worthy again in the same movie.
And damn... that ML Chris Pratt fig is really growing on me... hope he is easy to find. Some waves are super abundant like the X-men & Dr. Strange waves and other waves seem much harder to find. |
I picked up Yondu and Star-Lord from Walgreens. I didn’t think I needed the GOTG Vol 2 Star-Lord Legends figure because I have the first movie version, but once I saw it in person, I needed it. The Chris Pratt head sculpt is amazing, definitely one of their top likenesses ever.

Snagged Vance last night at Walgreens. Sadly he was not on sale. Angela, Sam and Darkhawk were already gone. I think I will wait to see if I can snag the movie figures if they go on sale.

Thanks to clearance hauling these were finally cheap enough for me to jump in and build Onslaught. He is my first completed BAF, I still hate the principle of the gimmick but he is a great addition to the collection. |

But I really like ML Skorge... I want to get one to try and make a better looking Winter Soldier. I love Bucky now, but his ML figs are so bleh IMO. |

Finally ran into the rest of the wave tonight, although unfortunately I was not able to find them at clearance prices like I was able to find the first four. No matter. I just wanted to complete Titus so I said why not?
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...5_194326_1.jpg Speaking of Titus, I really dig him for some reason. I'm really just not sure what it is about him, but he retains all of the good that came out of the Space Knight Venom articulation wise, with a design that's fun, taking me back to the days when I was a kid playing with MOTU and all of their crazy characters. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...215_203608.jpg My one major gripe with the build-a-figure that I had is the really sloppy paid apps, in particular the gold painted on the boots and gauntlets. The clawed hands in particular was really bad, with gold paint splatter and an initial frozen elbow joint I needed to work out. The right leg pegged a little more loose than I would have liked, but it's nothing a little nail polish can't fix. In addition the dark blue plastics on the arms and legs have visible marblization, which only cheapens what could have been a really excellent (if an odd choice) BAF. Still, the excellent articulation and unique design of the figure make it a fun one, especially with the cannon arm as Titus can strike some really cool poses. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...215_203701.jpg Thoughts on the rest of the wave coming soon. Also, I will be getting rid of Vance Astro (minus the baf part of course) so if anyone is interested in it, lemme know! |
