The Force Awakens Rey Figure With Major Spoiler
Star Wars the Force Awakens Rey 3.75-Inch Figure Found - Contains Major Spoiler
Not posting in the thread due to potential spoiler. |
I don't follow the series very closely so I have no idea what the spoiler is.
|
While I like her Jakku gettup, I like that we're finally seeing her in a different outfit. I want to try and wait for the movie to come out, so that I can base my Force Awakens purchases off of the movie, but I already have the feeling that I'll be going out and getting everything Rey related before too long.
As for the spoiler... it's... interesting, I guess. More because of what can be asumed/guessed based on this, and less on the physical inclusion of it. This definitely explains why we haven't seen a certain other character released with it. |
I dunno how the "spoiler" would catch anyone off guard, it's fairly easily deduced. But I know how sensitive people are about these things. I like the look of the figure! Hopefully there's a six inch version because their first Rey was a bit thbbbbt.

Color me dumb, but what's the spoiler?
We could tell she was Resistance already by the fact that she's seen in the trailers fighting on the side of the good guys...? I wonder what the passage with the word "Cutthroat" says on the backing board. |

whats the spoiler exactly? if its the fact she has a a rebel/resistance outfit?? if so THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS
EDIT: im stupid, its the one certain accessory thats the spoiler |
So with her holding said item methinks finn meets a fate since thats also an item he seem to possess early on?

Ah. I didn't even focus on that detail, because everybody in Star Wars seems to pick up a lightsaber at some point. :D
Maybe we'll see Rey and Finn get in a scrap and cut off each other's limbs or something. You'll know we're in trouble if the action figures come packaged with body parts and notes from Rick Grimes. :D |
You know...now that I just stopped and thought about it...There's a more interesting question than as to how Rey get's it. What I want to know...
How the heck did Luke get his father's original lightsaber back? I mean, it fell down the air duct along with his hand when Vader lopped it off in Empire. Who found it? Did he later go back for it and found it floating around in the sky somewhere? Did he build another one after Jedi, somehow nearly identical to his Father's? JJ...you have some explaining to do... |

Thank the seven gods! I couldn't control myself and scrolled down thinking I would never forgive myself. I would have never realized this is a spoiler if it wasn't written in the title. Seriously though, I thought this was pretty obvious. And it shouldn't be anything big if they put it on the toy.

Omg she has a lightsaber and its blue! :O

The internet-outrage would be monumental, for enforcing the "Black Guy Dies First" trope in a franchise that's already pretty lacking in minority presence in major roles. |

I respectfully disagree with that sentiment in bold, and I'd be careful about that statement...you're likely to stir internet rage right there from Star Wars loyalists if you're not careful. We can argue about screen time or supporting roles, but it still doesn't change the fact that there are a lot of characters who were major players in the Star Wars films and cartoon series, portrayed by races both alien and of earthly origin, who happened NOT to be Caucasian. That's not to say that the Star Wars franchise hasn't had controversial moments where stereotypes of races could be pointed out (such as many racial controversies of profiling that followed on the heels of Episode 1) but still...to say there is little to no minority presence isn't entirely correct either. |
Nice, but how do we know that she hasn't simply retrieved the active lightsabre after Finn has been disarmed and is simply holding it?
Stretching it a bit with that idea, I probably am. |

SPECULATION/RUMOR-INDUCED SPOILER POSSIBILITY: Especially since it's all but a given a FAR more prominent character is likely being offed in this installment. END POSSIBLE SPOILER Boyega and Ridley (and Driver and Isaac to a lesser extent) have been trumpeted as "the" new faces of Star Wars. That's not something that happened with Maul, Jango, or even Qui-Gon. Heavily marketed? Sure. But never really touted as "the future of the franchise." Certainly not the way MacGregor, Portman, and Christensen were with the prequels. Quote:
The point being, if you think "Star Wars Loyalists" would be outraged by that statement, just think for a second about the amount of internet-outrage that will be generated if "The Black Guy dies first" in what very likely will be the biggest/most highly visible film of the last ten years. If you think Disney isn't/wasn't aware of that potential reaction when the film was being written and made sure to avoid it (not that it was ever likely much of a possibility), I have a bridge or three to sell you. |
wouldn't it be nice if the story influenced the progression of events, instead of peoples own ignorant assertions of race and militant political correctness? That said, why's everyone assuming from a couple seconds of trailers that Finn is the main holder of the saber in the first place? Han Solo used Luke's saber ESB, but he's no Jedi, trailers are often purposely cut to deceive you. He may just happen to have it for one battle, in the trailer scene with him about to fight the riot control trooper he doesn't look super confidant in his swordsmanship. I'd even bet that's the first time he turns a saber on, he looks shocked when it extends.

still could be one awesome battle where he uses the saber, or he may pick up the saber at the end of the movie from someone else, look at episode 4 (the first movie), Luke doesn't get much saber action at all, he turns it on in Obi Wan's living room, then plays with it in the Falcon, and never fights with it, but Luke with a light saber was burned into everyone's memory, and pronate in a lot of the promo art and posters. Hell it could for all we know, be the only "cool" weapon Finn uses. I just don't think one character being packed with a particular accessory is "spoiler" worthy or should be read into too much. next week when we've all seen the movie I'm sure it'll make sense. I'm just glad Lucas isn't on board, I'd hate Kylo or Phasm to take there helmets off to reveal JarJar.
