Thanks for the heads up. Crazy stuff.

Ben Grimm 02-12-2019 06:49 AM

I wonder if this means there's going to be an opening for 8" Mego figures next year.

If this turns out like anything close to their Fortnite figures then I'd be down for it.

adcatalano 02-12-2019 07:01 AM

Should’ve been neca

CasualCollector 02-12-2019 07:04 AM

Someone has pointed out already, if they do Fort Nite quality figures, that’s fine.

Which I'm guessing is going to be the aim here. Those have 22 or so points of articulation, which should be fine for any mass retail release for $20 - $25.

Comedian 02-12-2019 07:15 AM

Please for the love of god,can we please get all Batman film figures from all eras in one uniformed scale.

I am very excited to see what he does with this,he may even have newer articulation by 2020. We just need to play the waiting game. I also expect Mattel will not go out with a whimper but rather finish with some great selections.

My question.....what exactly did spinmasters buy?

My guess is they get to do the pure kid level stuff. Lower articulation, lower price point stuff.

VashTS 02-12-2019 07:29 AM

I love MCFarlane sculpts...I am glad to see this.

I hate their hinge hip joints. They are ugly for modern era action figures.

I LOVED their 12" figures back in the day. I have that Robocop, battle damged and it is beautiful.....display piece.

I have their Halo 12" Stuff...amazing. It's heavy and sturdy and a great price back in the day for the quality.

I am super excited and hoping they can do movie stuff and actually do a good foundation of past DC stuff but who knows....

Maybe they would do like the $9.99 line or maybe even figures in a 3.75 scale?

I don’t know...I’m actually more excited over all this toy news more so than in many many years.

Great, he can make new versions of the most popular DC characters in scales that magically won't fit with anything else that exists. I mean hey, there's a chance these will end up great, but I dont have high hopes.

Seems like Todd is snatching up toy properties left and right lately.

Black Arbor 02-12-2019 08:35 AM

I'm hoping these are closer to 7" than 6", I really want figures that scale with my NECA's and McToys. This is a crazy announcement but I won't hate on Todd til I see what he's bringing to the table. He's really made some progress with the CoD, Fortnite and Stranger Things figures so I'm cautiously optimistic!

Probably land somewhere between his undersized 6in CoD and his 7in Fortnite figures. I just want them to scale with my huge Marvel Legends collection and be articulated like Fortnite, not CoD...

I’m actually glad that McFarlane toys has the license now. Part of me kind of wishes the license went to NECA, but McFarlane definitely takes more risks when it comes to varying figure sculpts.

Currently outside of Predator and Alien, every time NECA releases a new line of figures with really unique sculpts per figure, the line either ends early or the figures are heavily delayed and I are at risk if never being released at all.

Well-made DC super heroes from NECA would definitely do far better than some of their other shortlived licenses, but my fear is that within the three-year license agreement, NECA would probably only hit the big seven or eight characters reuse them to death and then mix that with inevitable delays and there current business model of straying away from standard releases and moving towards marked up Ultimate realesse, they would lose the license, before they ever got deep in to it.

As of late McFarlane has shown time and time again that they are willing to take risks with releasing figures with little to no reuse possibilities and keep a solid release schedules. NECA may still have superior articulation, but McFarlane figures as of late are right on par with NECA’s sculpting and they are quickly catching up to to the rest of the toy collector world articulation-wise. We’ll have to wait and see how this develops, but if they keep making the leaps and bounds they are DC collectors are going to be very happy in 2020.

Besides this new development of Mattel losing the master toy license is probably the reason why NECA will be releasing those DC/ Alien/ Predator 2-packs now. So while collectors get a more classic figure line from McFarlane NECA can get away with releasing the more niche DC figures that crossover with their current licenses. And maybe jus maybe they could even get back to shrinking their 18-inch DC figures to 7-inch scale again without issue.

From that point, Mc Farlane is way worst than Neca.
They release figures with too much different scale (Walkind dead 5" 7" Bricks) and they never end lines.
They announced 3 new 7" inches figures that were cancelled.
Same goes with their Topps figures.
3 Call Of Duty figures and it seems done.

For me as a Walking Dead collector Mc Farlane is really a bad move for dc figures. Mattel will be regret.

people probably over speculated, they are probably just handing the kid stuff but not the collectibles. the news that we got from spin master was very vague.

This is big news, Im excited for this news, DC and Mcfarlane is a good mix, just hope he continues what he doing with Borderlands and Fortnite, those figs are top notch, he finally nailed it!!

The one thing I'm hoping for out of this is DC Universe versions of the Titans and Doom Patrol. If Todd would put out genuinely nice figures of the whole teams, I could actually get excited about that. At the same time though, I can see some of those characters being a risky move sales-wise.

OriginalFire 02-12-2019 10:02 AM

This is kinda good and kinda bad. McFarlane kinda sucks with their face sculpts. I wish it was NECA also, I like the Spawn stuff they released. Comic book faces don't have a real person to base the sculpt on unless it's a movie. What's done is done I guess. Thank goodness for DC Collectibles. This just sucks, but they might do well. Hasbro would have been good also. I wonder what recorded Marvel Legends they would have used. Would Captain America and Batsman have the same body. I guess McFarlane is a comic person also. How do u quote others on the site. Tfworld is way easier

ieyke 02-12-2019 10:06 AM

I'm glad it's not NECA because I don't want NECA spread too thin and distracted from their more interesting projects (TMNT, Guillermo del Toro, etc).
Plus, NECA's not always the most durable. DC stuff is going to need to be a bit more durable.

I just hope McFarlane is smart enough to make these scale with Marvel Legends instead of doing some annoyingly slightly too short, or oversized 7 inch junk.

graphyt 02-12-2019 10:27 AM

Oof. Outside of the Fortnite stuff, I can't remember the last time McFarlane put out anything I was particularly excited to buy. I got the first Spawn Topps figure but past that, I don't think I have anything. I also really want to see those DarkHorse Neca DC figures made available even if that's it. If they can put out a well articulated, good looking product for a competitive price, I'll bite, but at the moment of all the collectibles companies that could have gotten the DC figure license, I think McFarlane is near the bottom. Least its not Funko I guess.

Mister Skeezler 02-12-2019 10:44 AM

I used to buy McFarlane figures back during Movie Maniacs, but I hadn't bought anything from them until the recent Kirk and Picard. The whopping total of 2 figures from their time with the Star Trek license. The scale is all freaking weird too. I have a Capt Picard who is taller than the damn Terminator.

If they suddenly start putting out great figures, I'll be happy, but at this point, I'm extremely skeptical. NECA would have been a much better choice by far.

And yes, I understand McF is putting out figures with more articulation, But NECA has been doing that for years now. And just look at the excellent work NECA is doing on hiding the articulation. McF feels a few years behind still.

OriginalFire 02-12-2019 10:45 AM

How long do they have the licence for
