I thought Gurdian an another namor and what not were suppose 2 be in this wave

Greenskar 07-29-2009 02:31 PM

STOP WITH THE SPIDERMANS ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, though, if Hasbro insists on continuing to put out repaints of this figure I propose this: PUT ONE OUT WITH GOOD F*%$#@ PAINT APPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or just give me Iron Spider already. I'm tired of the classic style costume with ink smudges in the worst possible places (ie. the eyes!).

This wave does consist of the ones pictured as well as Guardian, Sub Mariner, and the Silver Centurion Iron Man.

trebleshot 07-29-2009 03:02 PM

If Hasbro decides to make Iron Spider, he'll most likely show up in the new Spider-Man line. Though I can't argue against one being released for MU.

As for the rest, redeco releases help cover the costs of the initial mold and also go towards R&D on new molds. So it's a necessary evil with any toy line.

Uh, what?

Those are the only new figures for wave 5. There's supposed to be earlier releases shipping with the wave, but I don't know of any other Namor or Guardian variants yet.

People are still complaining about characters like Spider-Man and Iron Man appearing in every other Wave? I don't see the point of rereleasing popular characters, either. I mean, why give people more chances to get popular characters? Surely the kids don't want them.

Sweet, can't wait for Guardian. Hope they make a Vindicator, too!

blastMONKEY 07-29-2009 03:14 PM

That Guardian is quite snazzy and, unlike his ML counterpart, he'll most likely be released in metallics. It's nice to see a new base body. Electro is quite nice, he'll look great next to the other Spider rogues.

Ballsdeep212 07-29-2009 03:20 PM

Cool

outsider 07-29-2009 03:26 PM

Nice figures in this wave... gotta admit I am sick of more Spidermans... we're going to have how many already??

- Original Spidey
- Dark Spidey
- Black Spidey
- 3 Pack Spidey
- 2 pack Spidey
- Wave 5 Spidey 1
- Wave 5 Spidey 2
- 2 pack black Spidey

THIS. I understand trebleshot's point, but with the exception of the Symbiote Spiderman, almost every other Spidey I've seen anywhere had horrible paint apps...specifically, paint run off from their attempts to apply the webbing details. That is what really bugs me.

ZeoVGM 07-29-2009 04:55 PM

If not for characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Iron Man, we would not have this line of figuers. They are the most popular. That's why the first 2010 wave has House of M Spider-Man and Xavier School Wolverine.

You want new figures like Guardian and Jean Grey? Then deal with multiple versions of Spider-Man.

This is a new costume, the red/black one. So as a Spidey fan, I'm happy about it.

Don't buy it if you don't want it.

deceptifocus 07-29-2009 05:07 PM

hah i noticed the spiderman with superhero squads too, guys who collect them must have a jillion spideys

That's what I subscribe to. Although I can understand the frustration when you go out to look for new figures & all you find is SPIDER-MAN!

Johnnyakiba 07-29-2009 06:01 PM

I have to admit that these are some good figure here and that spiderman packaging ROCKS, but COME ON. I already have 2 spideys!!!

Just as everyone has pointed out, TRU Spider, Secret Wars Spidey, House of M Spidey...

If your going to do Spidey at least make it WANTABLE.

redkomic 07-29-2009 06:07 PM

well i don't mind gettin hom spidey. i mea it's different and not the exact same over and over

Johnnyakiba 07-29-2009 06:10 PM

Has anyone found the Wolverine Deluxe figures yet? Not to de-rail.

I fully understand your comment and AGREE... but I think it gets excessive at times. It happens with just about every toyline I think... but it just has been way to close together for me. Spidey overload.

Don't give me that. I'm a Spidey fan too, and of Wolverine and Iron Man. My question now is, am I the only one getting atrocious paint apps on these Spidermans?

At least the paint apps on all the different repaints of Iron Man figures have been good from what I've seen, same with Wolverine, with the only noticeable exception being on my Secret Wars two pack where the paint on his mask smeared a bit.

I think it's just a quality control issue that I'm complaining about more than anything. But yeah, I agree with Johnnyakiba, if you're gonna do a repaint...make it WANTABLE. All these recent Spideys have been is a lighter or darker shade of blue, and now black, or the same light shade of blue but now in a two-pack.

Spiderman repaints I WANT: Iron Spider (which may need a slight remold to accommodate the leg appendages), Scarlet Spider and 2099

Mine are fine. Of course, I look at the pegs to grab the best one available.

There should never really be a case of getting home and noticing a bad paint job on the figure.

ZeoVGM 07-29-2009 08:45 PM

I actrually have a problem with the Spidey figures, which is that they're just repainting the old sculpt. They should be using the far superior black costume sculpt for all future Spidey figures.

ad1976 07-29-2009 08:47 PM

I agree with the previous point: Wolvie, Spiderman, and Iron Man are the anchors for the Marvel Universe right now. We collectors are only a small portion of the market. During Marvel's lean years, they were putting out crappy products on all fronts (toys, movies, etc.) Does anyone want to see the days of that first Fantastic Four movie??
Now, with the tremendous success of SM and IM, Marvel can now show a wider audience more of the MU. I have held off on buying a Spider-Man though the McFarlane art in the new wave is too hard to resist. I wish they would do something similar with next waves: highlight the amazing artists working in Marvel (past and present) as the front art piece for the packages. That would be awesome!

Shin Densetsu 07-29-2009 09:02 PM

Want Black Spidey and Elektro, that's it. Iron Man is a pass, I would have definitely picked up a true Silver Centurion armor though.

Shogi 07-29-2009 09:21 PM

Ok, I don't mind all the Spidey's too much, sure I'd like to see the body change up a bit, maybe replace that fist with an open hand on one or two of these repaints, but the upside down spidey!? Come on! Isn't that the exact same darker spidey that's out in store right now only now he's carded upside down and we're supposed to believe it's an all new figure!?

Electro is a must buy for me, I might be giving the Centurion Iron Man a second look but that's about it for this wave (I'm just not a fan of sub mariner)

Next year, Mike Deodato will be taking over art for most of the figures, with Bob Layton contributing some art too, like for classic Thor. He has some iconic Iron Man designs, so I hope that a Bob Layton Iron Man armor is inevitable.

MegaPrime33 07-30-2009 05:39 AM

I too am getting sick of spiderman. There are so many characters to do. I mean obviously I know why they're making so many, but come on. Limit it to 5 at at least.
