Should I open my SDCC Sentinel?

ok all, got a nice poll going. You get to tell me what to do. Open my Sentinel, or keep it boxed. Let the voting begin

MasterSock 08-18-2011 06:33 AM

Free him! If you do I'll open my variant galactus!

quinten182 08-18-2011 06:38 AM

I say no.. the only thing it truly has going for it is that amazing card stock. Otherwise, those colors will be released retail and you'll just have overpaid for that.

And variant Galactus was on tru.com for a longgg time. It's not nearly as rare so that's not quitttte on the same level. Now opening SDCC Galactus would be even dumber. Because then you either went to freakin comic con and got the exclusive, or overpaid for said exclusive, and now have nothing more than a 30 dollar figure to show for it. :P

ludovicotek 08-18-2011 07:02 AM

I voted no. Keep that sucker on his card. It's just too awesome like that!

actualy I got him from HTS, and I got free shipping and no tax, so really I only payd a couple dollars more than retail.

ghostdog0081 08-18-2011 07:16 AM

Don't do it homie! That giant card rocks! If you realllllly want to open I'd just get another one. They started popping up here in oklahoma and if we got it everybody should. :)

The variant colors are popping up there??

And I'd keep it on card then when someone gets the variant colored one, trade with them and make them super happy. :P

menicus 08-18-2011 07:22 AM

I'll admit I'm more of a toy player (ok, fine, displayer) than a collector so I say open him up and let him breathe... I guess I just don't get any fun out of a toy that's still sitting there in it's box. Guess it really depends on why you bought him... Did you think he was cool and wanted to display him with your others or were you hoping he'd go up in value and you could sell him later at a profit? If you're a toy speculator then keep him carded.

omega145 08-18-2011 07:42 AM

I voted no because I havent opened neither one that I have. After further thought though, I think it really all depends on if you are a MOC or loose/display collector.
If you do open him then use a blade to keep the plastic bubble intact for display purposes in case you wanted to put him back in there. You can always keep the box out by the opened Sentinel as the box art is amazing.
Or just buy a BAF Sentinel as its a superior figure and keep your SDCC Sentinel all boxed up while you can display the loose BAF.

quinten182 08-18-2011 07:42 AM

I open EVERYTHING mu, EXCEPT stuff like this that I bought because of the packaging or variations. I'm not hoping it goes up in value, I don't care, I just keep it on the card because the only difference between this comic con exclusive and any other is the card. (and colors.. for now.)

Symbiote 08-18-2011 08:05 AM

I had intentions of opening up the sdcc sentinel but after seeing him in the blister card, I couldn't pull the trigger. I love the packaging on him too much.

bmorr 08-18-2011 08:07 AM

free it from its prison bub.

JonnyVu 08-18-2011 08:08 AM

I think If I got my hands on this. I couldn't do it..

pud333 08-18-2011 08:24 AM

No. Heck no. Hell no. Fuck no.

THIS. Just wait for the retail release. That's what I'm doing.

Do Boy 08-18-2011 08:38 AM

NO!! - YouTube

MasterSock 08-18-2011 09:25 AM

Man if they make the sdcc Sentinel available at retail i would leave it in the package. But i have never seen a variant Galatcus at Toy r us ever so i would say that rare.

behindthemask 08-18-2011 09:50 AM

If I owned the SDCC version I'd leave it MOC, the reason being as it's going to increase in value and rarity, the artwork and packaging is 50% of the value and if u open it, well it's not much different then the regular version, now is it? I have a sdcc thor MU figure and have left it MOC, along with my IM 3 packs, and I can also pick up the SDCC cap and spidey from last year off my comic guy and when I do they're being left MOC.

jamesmruddy 08-18-2011 10:01 AM

Think of the poor mutants if it should be freed from it's prison.

I love this line. I can just imagine my custom Boliver Trask(White coat Dr From GIJoe Rise of Cobra with a head and hand swap) standing infront of the the Sentinel, still mint in packaging, trying to find a way to activate it.

Dylan in Oregon 08-18-2011 10:58 AM

I open everything except my SDCC stuff.

Do Boy 08-18-2011 11:01 AM

Seems like everyone is saying no, but the poll is saying yes lol

No way, man! I'm totally a loose collector, but my couple of SDCC items I leave in package. Mostly because of the limited run/rarity, but also because they usually go that extra mile with the packaging (love the Invaders set) so that I can still enjoy it. And especially if you can get the same thing at regular retail, I say keep it in it's unique package!

Prem1x 08-18-2011 11:15 AM

No. Buy a silver one if you must play with one. Eventually the purple will reach retail, so you can just wait for that.
