Captain America

Which toyline's Captain America do you all recommend as The Definitive Cap? I mean color wise, scale wise, true to comic book accuracy

I like the character but not enough to own like every version or multiples, though I might get that target 2 pack with red skull in it cus he looks quite BA

thanks

behindthemask 09-01-2011 01:31 AM

The sdcc MU version is my favorite probably.

I agree, by far my favorite Captain America figure. He is purrrrfect <3

TheSymbiote 09-01-2011 01:39 AM

What they said

iLegends73 09-01-2011 01:44 AM

i dont like any of them really...the bucky cap from the cap movie line is the closest thing to a good 1 IMO

KingLouie731 09-01-2011 01:44 AM

Is this the figure that was in the invaders set or something else? I mean the SDCC one

iLegends73 09-01-2011 01:47 AM

yea im pretty sure its the one that was in that box set

TheSymbiote 09-01-2011 01:53 AM

We thought every1 was talking about last years WW2 Cap

Heavy Artillery Captain America from Wave 1 of the Captain America Toyline in my opinion. Just drop all the gimmicky crap and keep the shield and you got yourself a comic book accurate, definitive Cap.

thats the one im running with, but that bucky cap with the heavy artillery cap's shield is a super win

If we're talking scale-wise and true to comic-book accuracy, I'd say the WWII cap that came in the 4 pack in the Defenders set. He's NOT the Ultimate WWII SDCC Cap with the removable helmet. He's a little dialed back in terms of colour brightness, although it may look a bit washed out. I almost think they went a little too pure plastic on the Secret Wars version and then the Wolverine battle pack one is too glittery. In terms of sculpt, get the battle pack one, then repaint him with some dark blue paint if you want totally comicbook accurate. You'll need a shield that doesn't have a scratch though, but if you want pure out of the package goodness with no changes, I'd go with the MU WWII Cap but he's not cheap or the Secret Wars Cap who is a wee bit cheaper. Despite what everyone says, Secret Wars Cap pretty close colourwise to the comics of that era. In fact, the WWII Cap is almost a deliberately exaggerated with the desaturated look to create an essence of age. I would say it's down to those two.

........yea what he said lol...but the heavy artiliery one is probally the cheapest way to go and have one right outta package that u can display

omega145 09-01-2011 03:53 AM

I dunno, I'm always surprised to best people pick that invaders pack cap. I'd much rather have the single carded marvel universe ultimates cap if I had to choose one as the colors aren't washed out like the sdcc version. As far as any in the actual cap line, IMO all the cap figures in that line are crap and I'd recommend sticking to MU when choosing a cap figure.

yea but the MU ultimate cap is a lil too lean. i had him and got the heavy artiliery one and saw a difference. yea some bad paint apps, yea maybe some slight articulation issues but with his bulkyness he does fit in. come on u know how super buff his ML counterpart is so u know caps gotta be big

thechris 09-01-2011 04:26 AM

The MU Ultimate Cap figure isn't very classic comic book accurate (I think that's what he's asking about). If they wanted to make THE perfect Cap, I would say it's using the SDCC Defenders Captain America sculpt using the shade of blue from the Ultimate Captain America from 2009's Wave 2.

Artist77 09-01-2011 08:03 AM

I painted a metallic finish to the scales of the second deluxe Glider Captain America, with a better face than Heavy Artillery and wrist articulation, but other than that, I don't know if I've seen the DEFINITIVE Cap yet.

Symbiote 09-01-2011 08:06 AM

Pajama pants cap gets my vote, lol.

Reaver Strike 09-01-2011 08:07 AM

I have yet to get a good Cap. I have the WWII version and Bucky but not a good Rogers version. I plan on getting the up and coming Super Soldier Rogers, but still could use him in his traditional outfit.

I was 2, I wasn't refering to the repainted cap that came in the 70th anniversary edition pack, or the sdcc edition that was black and white, although cool figure, I was referring to this,

http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...1278591871.jpg

to me this is an amazing figure, great paint apps, articulation, good reviews and its a sdcc so adds to the value and rarity. IMO best figure. The cap movie line released an almost identical figure though, so can check that out. If you want more comic feel then check out the other figures offered in the Movie lines, and if you want to go above MU scale then I suggest, either series 1 Cap, the harder/rarer face off 2 pack cap, and the ultimate Marvel Icons Cap.. or the new Hot toys version.

Boba Fettuccini 09-03-2011 11:08 PM

Well, not entirely... the shoulder articulation one that one sucks. At least, it does on the repaint from the Cap movie line.

Have yet to buy either, my local comic guy has/had 2-3 of the sdcc cap figures set aside, just haven't got around to picking them up, and when I checked the toylines at walmart never got around to picking him or winter soldier up yet.

sug2763 09-03-2011 11:35 PM

Lol, I started this same kind of thread two months or so ago. I was also curious to know which Cap was everyone's fave.

Colder Soldier 09-05-2011 05:56 AM

None of them are great. It kills me how Hasbro purposely F'ed up the Movie Comic Series Classic Cap's.

The Deluxe versions have a wrist swivel but no arm swivel and the basic versions are totally opposite. Why can't we have one that does both??? And I think all the MU versions are too skinny. I'm just full of complaints on this topic. :(
