What is your favorite Marvel comic/storyline?
Hey guys, I've been reading a lot more comics recently and I was just wondering, what is your favorite Marvel comic/storyline? Maybe we can give each other some ideas about what to read next, or just reminisce about stuff we really liked.
I really dig the weirder stories, and recently I got hooked on Taskmaster #1-4. I also really like Civil War, and the random spin offs that went along with it. |
Annihilation
Annihilation: Conquest War of Kings Realm of Kings Civil War World War Hulk Secret Invasion Dark Reign Siege. As for limited series: Taskmaster: Unthinkable Irredeemable Ant-Man Ares: God of War Bullseye: Greatest Hits All that comes to mind right now. Oh oh oh loving Black Panther: Man Without Fear too. |

Well damn, I'm going to read this now. Siege is awesome, nice choice. |
It's pretty good so far. I really enjoy the art more than anything.
|
I've only been reading comics since Civil War and stopped at Seige, but my favorite run is Planet Hulk and World War Hulk.

No, I didn't actually. I've only seen Marvel Knights Black Panther animated film on shelves. Still need to see that.
|
Taskmaster: Unthinkable for sure
Planet Hulk and World War Hulk Luke Cage led Thunderbolts Wolverine led X-Force and Uncanny X-Force Secret Avengers until it gets chopped off by Fear Itself Shadowland. awesome to see all the street level heroes up against zombie ninjas and evil daredevil |

I LOVE the Exiles series. Right up until Chris "I'm too old to make comics that make sense" Claremont ruined it for everyone.
I reread up until around issue 70 about once a year. :) |
Personal favorites:
Annihilation Nova Planet Hulk Wolverine led X-Force and Uncanny X-force The death of Captain America The Immortal Iron Fist (Brubaker run) Demon in a Bottle Wolverine Enemy of the state/Agent of shield Wolverine vol. 1 #1-4 by Chris claremont Entire Joss Whedon Astonishing X-Men run Civil war what if tony died Civil war The trial of Galactus. |
The Original Age of Apocalypse
Dark Phoenix Saga Exiles (Up until Claremount), and then the rebooted Exiles (post Claremount) GLA: Great Lakes Avengers Generation X Young Avengers Ultimate Spiderman Runaways Ultimate Spidie, and Runaways is extremely odd in that both were consistant through out their runs. I felt neither really suffered in quality in writing. (Ultimate Spiderman being a prime example of why rotating writers out every couple months is a BAD IDEA, and allowing one writer to keep building on his own work is what needs to be done. Like in the old days. |

My favorites are.... Annihilation Thanos Quest Adam Warlock (from his own run in the early 80's) The Thanos series (good luck finding this, really- why no trade?) Guardians of The Galaxy- just the whole damn series. Nova- whole damn series. |

Let see there are plenty of good ones But I would go with some Avengers. Celestial Madonna saga (129-135 and Giant Size 2,3,4) Also the Serpent Crown Saga Avengers 141 -149. except 145/46. Good Classic stuff. When the Masters of Evil took over the Avengers Mansion, Under Seige (issues 270-277).
Of course Amazing 249-251 a good Hobgoblin story. And of course Hobgoblin Lives. |
Wow, that's a tough question for me. I guess I could narrow it down to some of my favorites:
Uncanny X-Men: debut of Hellfire Club; Giant-Sized X-Men #1 Ultimate Spider-Man (at least until #80, when I stopped reading/collecting comics on a regular basis) Transformers #1-80 Joe Kelly's run on Deadpool Original Age of Apocalypse series Onslaught saga There are probably others I can't think of at the moment, but that's still a good list. EDIT: Add the Earth X/Universe X/Paradise X trilogy. It's basically Kingdom Come for the Marvel Universe. Also, there's the Marvel/DC crossover that led to the creation of the Amalgam universe. Loved that too. |

I have always loved the Incredible Hercules books but I think the Ultimates Omnibus might just pip it!

For some reason, it's never been reprinted. At the end of the series, we see Thanos at the prison at the core of the galaxy called the Klyn alongside Starlord and Gladiator- a very strange three amigos those made- and you learn how each came to be locked up there. They end up saving each other's butts when Annihilus' forces come invading though the black hole at the Klyn's core (as it leads to the Negative Zone). |

Some didn't care for how it ended, but the thing to keep in mind is that no matter how much build-up you give a villain - no matter how much power - there must be a way for the heroes to win in the end. Even if the solution is considered anti-climactic. |
