List of available Sith Lords

First off, to the mods, if a similar thread already exists, I apologize...
My recent trip to Rancho Obi Wan (set up by my wife!!!), and the fact that MU releases have slowed to a trickle here in Northern California, have gotten me back into Star Wars 3.75" figures. I've been collecting since 1997 so my collection is fairly massive and complete. My recent obsession is getting all the Sith Lords.
I have Vader, Sidious, Tyrannus, Maul, Malak, Nihilus, Bane, Assaj, Opress, Grievous, and Starkiller (I know Assaj, Opress, and Grievous are not Sith Lords). I've ordered Phobos, Revan, and Nihl. And have feelers out for Talon, Krayt, and Maleval.
Am I missing anyone? I bow to the 'ark's collective knowledge of plastic crack.....

Names escape me...my brother would be so disappointed in me haha. I know the only one I don't have is Maleval.

Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma were both Jedi Knights during the Old Republic. Kun, arrogant and headstrong, believed he could investigate the Dark Side with no ill effects, and promptly turned evil. As he grew in power and influence Kun was opposed by the Jedi including Qel-Droma. The younger Knight too infiltrated a cabal of Dark Siders and fell under their influence, eventually confronting Kun in a fierce battle. Before either could gain the upper hand, a gathering of Sith spirits appeared and pronounced the two former Jedi the new Dark Lords of the Sith.

I just looked up the prices on evilbay...YIKES! I just recently gave in on Revan, who was quite pricey, and now this, LOL. *sigh*

Dude you are a better man than i!! I just cant make myself pull the trigger on Revan or (my favourite Sith) Nihilus!! Luckily Hasbro have made a complete pigs ear of the up and coming Darth Malgus figure,so i dont need to EVER worry about purchasing him!!!hehheh!! Is there any chance you could post a pic of your assembled Sith so far???

scottmurdock 01-28-2012 07:03 PM

I have Revan, Talon, Maleval, Krayt, and Nihl en route from 3 different sellers. But worry not my friend, once they arrive I will be more than happy to display the whole group. I looked up the Malgus...LOL on your description...though I'm sure I'll give in on him too. I hope Hasbro makes Plagueis one of these days.

Thanks mate i look forward to seeing the group shot!! I really dont understand why they used that T-crotch on the new Malgus figure,i mean really??? The MU and certainly the GI Joe lines are hell-bent on squeezing in as much articulation as they humanly can,and the SW line is doing the exact opposite it would seem.....

They use the T-Crotch on Malgus because the T-Crotch is standard for the vast majority of Star Wars figures. Out of the entire collection, it's relatively very few that have additional hip articulation.

It wasn't until just this week that probably the one figure from the movies that had the absolute best justification for ball-joint hips hit shelves with proper articulation (the latest Darth Maul).

Tiberius 01-30-2012 09:17 PM

What pisses me off is that there is no Darth Sion figure. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK.

Jason Abbadon 01-30-2012 09:42 PM

I'm waiting for Darth Phallus.

stjuggernaut 01-31-2012 04:17 AM

I was thinking just the other day that i would like to build my sith ranks up and here is this thread talking about it!

I have Sidious, Vader, Talon, Tyranus, Opress, Maul, ventress and maybe Bane. I cant remember. I have a few Starkillers but Im not sure I would really count him.

I used to have Malak and Revan but had to sell them a few years ago when money was tight. I didnt get much for them at the time though.

Im looking forward to getting thr darth malgus figure but a part of me is considering just customizing one.

I hope they come out with a darth plagueis the wise at some point. im sure he was in a recent poll to vote for a figure or something.

proteus 01-31-2012 06:58 AM

Well its just my opinion, but that Darth Malgus figure is p**s poor, take a look at the work this guy does:
Sith_Fire30 Creations: A Fistful Of Works....In Progress!
And heres the painted up version:
Welcome to Flickr!
If Hasbro's sculpters did HALF the job he has they would have an awesome figure on their hands, but they just cant leave those f**king 1980's T-crotches alone can they???

@proteus - if Hasbro scoured the web and looked at some of the amazing customs work floating arou8nd here, half of our community would have jobs with them...I'd be in QC (read: the guy that takes all of the prototypes and unreleased error figures home and sells them 20 years later on Toy Hunters, LOL).

This is a fallacy that toy collectors love to perpetuate amongst themselves. This isn't to take away from the work of the talented customizers out there, but what people fail to take into consideration is that customizers have what effectively amounts to an unlimited budget and unlimited part selection to make one single figure. They don't have to worry about how many accessories it has, how many paint apps it gets, how many points of articulation it has, how many new pieces need to be tooled to make it, or how feasible it would be to produce the finished product for mass scale. In short, they don't have to worry about how much the finished figure costs in the grand scheme of things. They don't have to do it all on a deadline, either.

This is why talented customizers will ALWAYS be able to produce better product than the mass-retail toy manufacturers, if they put their minds to it. Hasbro has to work within limitations to make sure the product is still profitable as a mass-retail item. Trying to point at a customizer's work and saying, "See? It can be done so much better!" is a false and unfair comparison.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

scottmurdock 01-31-2012 12:59 PM

Well said J, I hope it's understood that what I mentioned was tongue-in-cheek :)

Optimus Vader 01-31-2012 01:05 PM

This isn't all of my Sith, but it's what I have displayed currently. Maybe I'll get a group shot this evening with the rest of the Dark Siders.

proteus 01-31-2012 04:12 PM

Those are very valid arguements, especially the deadline/expense ones. The very reason i singled out sithfire's work is because he sculpts EVERYTHING from scratch. He puts together a body from MU/SW/GI Joe parts then dremels off ALL the detail until hes left with a basic blank body,THEN he sculpts onto it.

Surely thats exctly what Hasbro's sculptors do as well?? Thats why i said if they put in HALF the work he did their figure would be awesome.and your right about the T-crotch on SW figures, but bearing that in mind, why does DM look so wooden?? Maybe they should have gone for a more posed approach with his overall sculpt,i just feel they missed a great chance to give a really cool looking character a really cool looking figure.

Partially. But Hasbro's final sculpt then needs to be transferred to a metal mold that's used for mass-production. Some of the finer details of the sculpt can get lost in this process. And the mold has limited space for all parts needed to assemble the figure afterward, so there has to be some compromise with the add-on details/accessories.

Hasbro's budget per-figure can only cover so much, so it's not so much the work put into it, but how much of that work they can afford and still turn a profit at retail. If Hasbro's designers did what some of those customizers did (even at half the effort), I would guess that a typical 3.75" figure would cost closer to what a Hot Toys or Sideshow toy costs now.

A better way to look at it would be to imagine paying SDCC prices for mass retail figures.

scottmurdock 02-03-2012 10:39 PM

A group shot as requested by proteus.....now time to wait for Malgus
