The Avengers Movie thread!

Ok it's out over here in the UK surprisingly we got it first. I saw it yesterday and thought it was fantastic! I'd like to use this as a discussion thread about the movie, what you loved, disliked, were shocked by etc.

I'm not going to give away any details until people aprove it because the last thing I want is for people to have it spoiled for them!

Edit: Ok you can spoil away now it's out over in the US. So don't for the love of god read any further if you've not seen it! We need to discuss this film in its full Glory!

Hulk97 04-27-2012 03:37 AM

Simply amazing, can't wait to see it again

MegaPrime33 04-27-2012 03:48 AM

If a discussion must be had, please remember to use the spoiler tags and warn people if you reveal things. I can't wait to see it next week!

LXL_Guy 04-27-2012 06:26 AM

Yep, doing midnight showing next week myself. Unless I can find an earlier showing.

jjk1120 04-27-2012 09:35 AM

4 years we've been waiting for this movie. Ever since Nick Fury mentioned The Avengers in the end credit scene in Iron Man. I couldn't be more excited!

supermangyan 04-27-2012 09:55 AM

Spoiler alert!!

all I can say is the movie ROCKED!! Saw it last night. I can't wait to get it on Blu-Ray when it comes out in a couple of months.. Totally EPIC film! rushed home to see if there are threads like this that shows in detail all the Easter eggs (I'm sure there are loads). I only saw one, but won't mention it here until someone else does. :D

jaybird7072 04-27-2012 10:53 AM

Yea i order 4 tickets for midnight showing too. Taken my girl and my two nephews. Should be a epic night..

Zictor 04-27-2012 11:05 AM

Just seen it for a second time. It's a truly cinematic masterpiece. It had everything and on the second watch I picked up on a major story element that I wouldn't have been able to work out last time round! So good. So so good!

MrChips 04-27-2012 11:30 AM

Saw it on the 25th ;) and it was GLORIOUS! everything about it is awesome

bmorr 04-27-2012 11:47 AM

arrrghh. its not out for another week. i cant stand this wait. But wait, there always the alternative....

Kaewin 04-27-2012 02:17 PM

Yes there is, but it might not be pretty, trust me

1andonly5711 04-27-2012 04:02 PM

this maybe off topic but ironman 3 everything iv seen for it points to the extremius armor movie nano bots black widow not being in it a lady scientice

xhavoc86 04-27-2012 08:44 PM

i guess ill be the first...i dont know what it was...maybe the fact that everyone kept saying how amazing and good it will be...my expectations were too high?

i did not feel like it lived up to all the hype. i was pretty let down.

Now this is what I'm interested in hearing. By all means sir, let us know what aspects of the movie let you down (without providing spoilers please).

Tiberius 04-27-2012 10:11 PM

Doesn't matter. Dressing up as Wonder Man!

MegaPrime33 04-28-2012 04:39 AM

I hope it's in 2d somewhere near me. I hate that 3d crap. Imax would be good too, but I already checked those theaters closer to me and they're not showing it. It's gonna be awesome.

Zictor 04-28-2012 05:33 AM

Tbh, I was really hyped about it and when I saw it it lived up to my expectations and delivered a movie exactly the way I wanted it to be. I'm fairly sure they've set up Iron Man 3 in it too so we've got a few hints to potential storys. We won't know for sure for a little while though.

I do hope though that from now on there are at least 2 Marvel Studios movies per year because they are just getting awesome. I've heard rumours that they're thinking about doing a GOTG movie which would rock.

Seeing as they aren't trying to make everything "Dark" like Batman and are still being successful I really think they'd be able to pull off Rocket Raccoon and do him perfectly... providing he's got a british cockney voice... Jason Statham or Ray Winston would be good choices!!!

I'm gonna do my best to tiptoe around spoilers, lets see...

1.I think the villains in this movie look absolutely silly. Very much a disappointment
2. Scarlett Johansson is still absolutely garbage as Black Widow.
3. Hawkeye's involvement/story was a bit confusing.
4. Hulk is always confusing, but hilarious.
5. It was too short. lol

It wasn't a bad movie...i just didnt blow my mind like i thought it would. the movie did a lot of things right. I felt every character had an important role and had equal amount of screen time. Everyone had a shining moment. The story was good overall (but there were some parts that were confusing). The dialogue and interactions between the Avengers was fun.

I guess what i want to say is i was for sure this movie was gonna be my movie of the year, but i feel like GI Joe, Batman, Spiderman, Brave, etc now all have a chance to take that away from the Avengers. I almost want to say i liked Hunger Games better than Avengers...ALMOST...but no, it wasnt lol

Greenskar 04-28-2012 09:21 AM

I've read those similar shortcomings about this film from other critics actually. Well except for Hulk and scarlet, they received much praise for their parts from everything I've read, but not having seen the film I guess I have to reserve judgement.

Interestingly, Whedon said in an interview that he had to cut out 45 min worth of film from the movie for the theatrical release. Lord of the rings (all 3 movies) had to do the same, but I'm willing to bet we get the definitive Director's cut on Blu-Ray down the line.
