Rotating your display... How often and do you even?
Since I doubt all but a very few of us have the space necessary to have EVERYTHING out on display, I was wondering who here rotates what you have on your shelves and how often do you do it?
Currently, my 4-inch Marvel figures have dominated my shelves for some time... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psoyu6jtp5.jpg ...but before that, I had my DCUC figures on display... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psyrhrmexo.jpg ...and before that it was Transformers. So, if you do indeed rotate your stuff, how often do you do it? Once a quarter? Every 6 months? Never? Or maybe just when the mood strikes? I'm wondering because as I said I've had my Marvel figures up for quite some time and truthfully I'm getting a little antsy. I've been wanting to rotate the DCUC figures back out again because I love them so much, but invariably the minute I start pulling down what I have up I regret it. So, anybody else care to chime in and offer your thoughts or what you do? |
Firstly, nice display on both accounts :thumbs
Secondly, and to answer your question, I definitely rotate my display. I usually end up doing it when I acquire something new that really mandates a change in allocated space, such as my brief and wallet ruining affair with Hot Toys or when I purchased UW Devestator. Other times a shelf becomes crowded with figures and I feel a desperate need to de-clutter and reorganize the lot of it. |
I just moved to a place with a lot more space and I'm putting certain parts of my collection out on display for the first time. I'm selling some things on ebay for extra money to buy shelves and cabinets now and I'm working on dioramas and displays for my Detolfs. Everything is pretty much going to stay the same unless I need to make more room in the future. I could see myself purging out some of the stuff I've lost interest in to make room for new things. I don't think I would like to rotate stuff around because packing and unpacking figures isn't as fun as I thought it would be before the move.
I'm totally jealous of all the figures you have in both photos. Your collection looks amazing! |
I have several small cabinets which remain the same for the most part (with a few new items added or replaced occasionally), including a Star Wars shelf, a Marvel one, a DC one, Transformers and GI Joes mixed together, and one for NECA movie stuff. I have one glass Detolf shelf with some higher end/fragile stuff (Gentle Giant, Kotobukiya, some imports). Then I also have some other shelf space that I rotate based on what I want to see at the time. I’ll put a display of 4” Star Wars figures and creatures, or my Marvel Universe figures. Sometimes it’s my overflow Marvel Legends and DCUC that I don’t have space to display at all times. Most recently it was all Force Awakens stuff. Last time I tried to inventory, I had about 1600 figures of various scales and types, and only about 500 of those are on display at any given time. The rest are in boxes and plastic containers.
