Hot Toys Rey - Question
Hey everybody!
I want to ask something important, and i hope someone can help. I want to buy the Last Jedi Rey Figure, Training Outfit from Hot Toys. BUT: I have heard the Rubber is cracking after some time on Hot Toys Figures, mostly on the Arms, Elbows and so on. I want to ask: The Previous Versions of Rey Resistance and Scavanger, did they have Seamless Rubber on the Arms, or visible Plastic Joints? I also would like to know if the new Version comes with Rubber Seamless Arms, or Plastic Joints. Because i really do not want a Figure that is Cracking over time. I would prefer the No-Rubber Plastic Joints. |
Sorry, can't help you on this but I'd be very interested to hear opinions too. I've read all the horror stories and it's put me off buying Hot Toys although I REALLY would have loved to pick some up.

I know that i can buy another extra Body from Company Phicen, to replace
the one from Hot Toys Rey. But, iam still not sure if i shall buy Infinity War Thanos because he has Rubber all on his Body. I do not want to buy a Figure that breaks after a certain amount of time... And to those who say "All Figures will break someday" lol, no, Figures that have no Rubber on them, will not brake. Play Arts Kai Figures will last forever if handled correctly. I still own Transformers that are 20 Years old, and they are still in Top Shape, no breakage. |
Unfortunately, that is not the case. All figures will indeed break someday, whether it is the faux-leather or cloth outfits of Hot Toys or the brittle plastic used in Legends or Transformers. Die cast stuff is more durable, but still not unbreakable. Play Arts figures breaking right out of the pacakge is not unheard of either.
Best way to prevent rubber pieces from breaking is to not stretch it. |
I have a very large Hot Toys Iron Man and Star Wars figure collection, i have the 2 versions of Rey and BB8, no issues. You can also check out sideshowcollectors fourm very detailed about there HT figures.

I still have my Play Arts FF9 Zidane and Garnet and my old Transformers Figures (RID Optimus Fire Truck) i bought this Figure around 15 Years ago and he has no Breakage Issues, no stress marks - Nothing, i doubt that he ever will have these Issues. But Hot Toys on the other Side - Horrible. I remember i had RE5 Sheva once, the rubber broke on her Arms and on her Chest after around 2 Years. Also many Report also that, after around 2 Years Hot Toys Figures Rubber starts to break. I have cancelled my Infinity War Thanos Figure now. It is not my Intention of seeing such a expensive Figure falling apart. Hot Toys is just stupid; they just should use Silicon. That would solve everything. Silicon is durable and lasts forever. However, i have pre Ordered Star Wars 8 Rey because i know there will be Phicen replacement Bodies. Quote:
I will stick with my Pre Order EP 8 Rey Training Outfit, but i have cancelled Infinity Thanos Figure. Thanos has Rubber ALL over the Body, that is to expensive and to Dangerous for me. |
