Target Geek Out Sept 23, 2022
|
Cartoon Dungeon and Dragons figures....
Wow. |
I'm prepping myself:
$100 each Sold out in 2 seconds. |
$25 for 6" figures and they're still available. Nice.
Now we wait. |
Got in pre-orders for all four of these pretty easily, and it looks like they're still available after 10 minutes. Amazing how these were kept under wraps - I hadn't heard anything about them until they updated the Collector's Spot page this morning. Now the question is, when can we expect the remaining three kids, and will they also be Target exclusives? And also, will we get new versions of the best known characters from the original toy line, Strongheart & Warduke?

Shows date on hasbro pulse. https://hasbropulse.com/collections/...-master-venger |
FYI, Pulse also has the Dungeon Master/Venger set for pre-order, along with "Transformers: the Movie" versions of Ratchet & Wheelie, which I'd have totally missed if I hadn't just checked my e-mail. The D&D kids appear to be only at Target, however.

Only Dungeon Master & Venger 2 pack is listed as "Target Exclusive", so I imagine the kids will be available elsewhere in the future.
Can't wait for Sheila! A clear (invisible) variant would be way cool. |
Venger is 8.5 inches tall

I am somewhat relieved that there is no new G.I. Joe Classified items being released today. I was not looking forward to placing another pre-order for more Classified items that I won't get for a year. But the D&D figures look cool, but I really don't want to spend the money on them.

Right now it would appear they're all only available at Target, as there's nothing on Amazon or Pulse, so I won't believe it until I see it. It would be nice if they ended up all being relatively easy. |
U.S. Only (mostly)
Only Venger and Dungeon Master are available on Hasbro Pulse (they are available to everyone, not just exclusive to Pulse Premium members).
The rest are only available at Target.com. It's a shame that a line so many have been waiting years for is mostly only available in the U.S. I'm a die-hard fan, so I'll be hitting up eBay once they are released. |

Hopefully Target just has first dibs and these will go wide-retail later on and be easy to order on BBTS or elsewhere. I'm thrilled to see this surprise reveal today. Ever since Hasbro first announced the D&D license a couple years ago I was hoping they'd do a 6" black series style line based on the 1980s toon since it was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. These look really good too....very on-model and screen accurate depictions of the characters. Hopefully we get a 2nd wave to complete the main group.

A bit surreal seeing these this morning, I was literally just thinking yesterday about how much I wish this figure line existed. After the 80's classic "Big 3" of MOTU, G.I. Joe, and Transformers, this was by far my strong #4. I'm grumbling a bit about the intitial lack of Sheila, that I'm compromising my principles of not purchasing "plastic free" from Hasbro (especially on an otherwise retro style release like this), and that I had to use Target (maybe they'll be OK, I haven't ordered online from them in many years). But...here we are on the figures I've waited literally decades for, so I decided to just face the inevitable and put my preorder in for all of these. I feel "unclean"...but happy at the same time. |

And then I bought some Marvel Legends because of the Spider-friends set. And then this morning I saw the D&D toys... |
Definitely brings back memories. Liked Sheila the most out of the group, but Dungeon Master and Venger were the main driving force for the show for me. Master looks good enough but disappointed in the Venger. Venger suffers from the side eye McFarlane problem and looks a bit too ratty/sniveling for my taste. I'd have dug a more evil look or the typical shocked look. In addition to waiting for Shiela, I'll wait (and hope) for a different Venger with Nightmare and/or Shadow Demon. I also would be very interested to see what they would produce for Tiamat, too.

Hopefully Sheila, Eric, and Presto are in a second wave. And maybe we can even have future waves with the orcs & other characters.
