Hasbro Job Cuts 2023 Edition
|
Keep Raising those prices and keep seeing the Stock Crash. Consumers don't wanna pay a ton of money and not get their money's worth in return
|
I bet HAsbro's lame ceo didnt take a pay cut.
|
Next Hasbro livestream, it's one Hasbro person and they are depressed.

But yeah in all honesty this is shitty. |
Remember when none of you read past the headline that said “Hasbro Earns Record Profit” and didn’t get to the “but” part where everybody and their brother predicted sales were going to crash due to a perfect storm of financial nonsense? Anyone who was actually paying attention saw this coming. I’m surprised it’s only a thousand jobs.
And please, spare me the “show some respect” line. The denizen of this forum dump in Hasbro’s cornflakes on a daily basis. Like any of you would’ve changed your tune on $25 figures if it meant keeping those jobs anyway. |
Toys are for kids who are already grown up. We don’t want no low quality garbage. Go premium or go home.

Maybe if you read the article you'd know that the problems with this comapny don't revolve around price increases. |

Paramount likely has some responsibility here too. The Snake-Eyes movie did poorly, the toys didn't sell, and then they delayed Rise of the Beasts for what, a year? More than a year? And Hasbro had already produced toys for it ready to go to stores as early as this time last year. All that unsold merchandise sitting in warehouses likely cost them a lot.
|
Hasbro is a big company..shitty marvel legends aren't the cause of this.
|
I did my usual toy aisle pass in the big red box store today, and I realized that I really pay zero attention to the figures in the no-plastic packaging. For years Hasbro has treated Target and Walmart as their top priority customers because they claim sales on retail floors is a major source for moving toys more so than catering to the adult collector. Well guess what? No one is impulse buying a toy they cannot see trapped in a box with crappy digital renders and art.

Best of luck to the employees. It will rise again someday. It always does.
|
I’m not surprised. I can’t remember the last time I bought a HASBRO product. The prices are so high for some things and they have very little to offer. No world building anymore. It’s just figures, no vehicles, no playsets, nothing for figures to interact with. On top of that you’re lucky to actually find any of it in a store.
I’m sorry for the people who lost their jobs, I hope you find work soon. Hasbro as a company deserves everything that they get and it’s a shame that the few at the top are making the most and making poor decisions that affect those below. |

With your first part... Best of Luck... to the employees |
I saw this breaking just after 4pm yesterday and knew this was bad. Hasbro pulse lowered those NBA Figure from $50 to $30. A ton of hasbro product covering Star Wars and marvel hit my loot at BBTS and most of it wasn’t due until May or later. I get the impression hasbro is starting to dump some stuff quickly.
I’ve read rumors on other sites that Star Wars scales may go to other companies….again just rumors. I’m still shocked that the new Antman film comes out in just weeks and hasbro still has showed nothing or even mentioned it. We get repaint after repaint, closed collectors are leaving with windowless packaging. We can’t keep paying double and triple for food and energy and then be expected to pay almost $30 a figure. For crying out loud Walmart won’t even give us a bag anymore. The end of abundance is nigh. |
So raising the prices on all figures while also saving money and the planet Earth with plasticless packaging didn't help?

BBTS - That's not dumping. Those dates were grossly overestimated. There weren't going to go half a year without new product on the shelf. These are generally the normal drop times precovid. Star Wars - What scales? Hasbro generally plays in the 6 inch scale in the US. But it's a weird property right now. There's no movie out. Antman - That's a surprise but they may have wised up(putting figures out months before the film) or gotten caught off guard with the release date. How much can they actually announce at the moment that they'd make a figure for? I think Hasbro needs to backtrack on windowless. I doubt inbox only collectors made up a significant amount of sales but retailers have got to be annoyed due to theft and returns(from missing parts and other QC issues). |

Best of luck to those who are going to be laid off. It does say something about subcontracting manufacturing and the overall size of a company these days when 1,000 people represent 15% of your work force.
|
They aren’t selling the units they are used to anymore and that’s not a shock. Their big brands are likely all underperforming. As much as I love to bash Hasbro, it’s not all on them and their internal decision making
