The Metal Gear Solid Series, hands down. I can't pick one in particular, the whole series is just amazing.
If you want to go by sheer time spent in a game though...Team Fortress 2. I have an unhealthy amount of my life wasted in that game :D |
Crysis warhead
|
Damn. I can take this so many different ways. I will just try to cover them all. I can't just pick 1 favorite, but I can go by generation, series, or maybe even genre. As someone who was gaming before the NES was released, I can say I have a real bond with the NES, being there for the entire time of it's commanding run.
On the NES favorites were (in no specific order): Ducktales, Mega Man 2, Super Mario Brothers 3, Metal Gear, Life Force, Super Dodge Ball, Baseball Stars For the 16bit era the following: Chrono Trigger (SNES), Final Fantasy III (SNES), Sonic (Genesis), Mutant League Football/Hockey (Genesis), Actraiser (SNES), Zelda 3 (SNES), Super Mario World (SNES), Maximum Carnage (Genesis), Bonk's Adventure (TG16), Neutopia (TG16) 5th gen the following: Goldeneye (N64), Mario Kart (N64), Chrono Cross (PS1), Twisted Metal (PS1), Metal Gear Solid (PS1) 6th Gen: Samba de Amigo (DC), Revolt (DC), Evolution (DC), PSO (DC), Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2), Halo (Xbox), Animal Crossing (GC), Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (DC), Halo 2 (Xbox), Shenmue (DC), SW:KOTOR (Xbox), Xmen Legends 2 (Xbox) Current: Mass Effect 2 (360), Uncharted (PS3), Gran Turismo 5 (PS3), Forza 3 (360), Gears of War 2 (360), Red Dead Redemption (360), Marvel Ultimate Alliance (360), Heavy Rain (PS3), Assassin's Creed 2 (360), Halo Reach (360), Bioshock (360), MGS4 (PS3), Batman Arkham Asylum (PS3), Portal/Portal 2 (360) Sad thing is, as long as this list of games is, I KNOW I am forgetting several. Sorry can't pick just one! |

I'd probably say Street Fighter 2. I remember spending a lot of quarters on beating the game with every single character. Theres a lot that are memorable for me. I played a lot of PC games like the Tex Walker series for the PC, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle. Gotta love the NHL and NBA games from the early to mid 90's for either SNES or Genesis. Can't forget about the classics like Zelda and Mario and the groundbreaking Mario for the N64. Some of my all time favorites are Half-Life 2, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, God Of War 3, FF7, Gears of War. My personal favorite right now is Dead Nation especially because it was free. |
Good thread!
I really enjoyed Pokemon Red and Blue on the original Game Boy, yes the newer iterations are better, but the first time round is always best. I also loved all the Mega Drive (Genesis) Sonic games. My last console was an N64 which had some real classics - Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda, Smash Bros and Goldeneye. Happy days.............. |
NES: Mike Tyson's Punchout!, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Kid Icarus, Mega Man 2
SNES: Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mortal Kombat II Genesis: Beyond Oasis, Earthworm Jim, NBA Jam Gamecube: Resident Evil 4 PS2: God of War 1 & 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2 Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, NBA JAM Haven't taken the plunge yet with X-Box 360 or PS3 :( Anybody remember the Panasonic 3DO? I used to have one, but there weren't very many games on it, let alone good ones. But I absolutely loved Twisted the Game Show and Way of the Warrior. |
Crysis!
|
Sonic (all of it), Mass Effect, Ace Combat.
