Hope u guys can help me out. I quit collecting Formers a few years afo in favor of MU. However with MU being so slow and hard to come by I'm feeling tempted by old friends LOL. While I don't care for TF Prime I am interested in FOC since I loved the IDW comics. So my questions are 1. How many FOC figures are there. 2. Is the line set to contine even for awhile. 3. Would you suggest jumping back into the waters so to speak. And 4. Who in your opinion is the best to start off with. Thanks in advance for any help.

The FOC line doesnt have much life left given what we saw at toyfair. It seems that the generations toys are moving towards the designs from the IDW comics. Grimlock and Blaster might be the last FOC toys.
theres really not that many for this line, but off the top of my head: optimus prime jazz shockwave the five combaticons air raid starscream ultra magnus sideswipe kickback soundwave blaster soundblaster assorted cassessetes for the three of them grimlock

My top tier would be:
Prime, Grimlock, Shockwave, and Starscream. You can't go wrong with most of these toys, though. If you're going to pounce, now would be best, prices are only going to go up. |

So FOC will be ending huh well what about the Generations line as a whole? It and Animated were the last two I collected. That's one reason I asked about FOC I still have Cyclonus and Unicron tank from Generations that I thought would be great for FOC.

I'll take a stab at this. . .not an expert on it, I'm a G1 guy all the way. But here's what I know:
Deluxes, so far: Jazz, Optimus, Shockwave, 5 figures for a Bruticus combiner, Ultra Magnus, Kickback, Starscream, Sideswipe, Air Raid Voyagers, so far: Soundwave, Soundblaster, Blaster, Grimlock Legends, so far: 4 data discs for each side (the guys that used to be cassette tapes. . .Eject, Rumble, Frenzy, etc.) Still to come: Voyagers: Blitzwing and Springer (both triple changers) Deluxe: Orion Pax (I think this is supposed to be FOC, not sure), and (I think) an Autobot combiner set Titan Class: Metroplex (to be the biggest TF ever!) also a couple of IDW figures, Megatron and Bumblebee So there's how many there are (that I found) and what's announced to come. Looks like a pretty good assortment. Would I recommend them? Depends. The figures have gotten smaller than they were. Plus I personally don't like the designs. I did get Shockwave, just to fill that slot in my G1-esque collection. Possibly will get Grimlock -- he looks pretty awesome. Definitely will get Blitzwing. And Metroplex if I can afford that kind of money.

Correction: the triple-changers are not FOC. My mistake.

The upcoming Springer is amazing, too. They hit it out of the park with that one.

I have Jazz from FOC and although I think his head could be a little higher up I like him and I'm hoping to get Shockwave soon. I wish Starscream, Ultra Magnus, and Grimlock would show up around here. I'm just now seeing Soundwave in Target.

I'd say honestly, just stick to classics/generations.
Then you get two sides to pick from. Cybertronian alts(FOC and WFC) or modern world stuff. Either way you end up with a gen 1 character dynamic like the comics/toons. This way you can also expand to IDW characters and classic characters that don't have FOC/WFC counterparts. Classics/Generations will be around for a long time in one form or another. They just rebrand it, then release more new molds. As for Orion Pax, that's not FOC or WFC. That's pre-war entirely. More TF Exodus really. That's the variant though. Nova Prime or whoever that was from the early IDW storyline seems to be the intended goal. Last edited by Snowflakian; 02-23-2013 at 04:55 PM.. |

Personally, I do not think that the toys are worth their cost. The engineering is non-existint (There are Legends that are more complex and better planned than the $22 FoC Grimlock), the plastic quality is very low, and they're basically large scouts. Not a good deal for $16 deluxes.
Even if I was a fan of the designs, I'd have a hard time recommending them. If you can find any of them on clearance, then they'd be better bang for your buck. I'd sooner recommend trying to find the WfC Generations toys. Better quality, better engineering.

im hoping that with guys like trailbreaker and the new megatron, we will be seeing the new golden age of classics toys. Or, ya know, round of hollow, flimsy transformers.

I doubt they'll be up to the standards of Universe 2, Generations 1, Classics, and RtS. the IDW Megatron and Bumblebee look just as flimsy and cheaty as Prime and FoC.

I like the Prime stuff just cause the plastic feels a lot better and sturdier. Compared to the FOC they're def better in engineering as well. But the FOC's aren't bad either though look wise, the third wave def. got better, and that's what actually brought me back in getting them as well as seeing the Voyager's. But to each there own, you should just go and check them out yourself if you're able to find them. The 3rd the wave may be harder to find though.
