I'm thinking about trying to find a customizer to make a figure of my personal Commander Shepard from Mass Effect, but there hasn't been a lot done where I see what figures go for. I've seen similar Marvel Legends go from $70, and had a guy, who didn't want to do what I wanted, ask for $450. Outrageous.
What is an acceptable amount? For that matter, where would I take my search? I've tried similar here on Toyark and on Hisstank for others, and either the results or the responses weren't the greatest. To be fair, I'm much more financially sound now. If anyone has any advice for commissions on custom 7" figures, I'd appreciate it! EDIT: A fine point was made, I didn't specify what I intend- If I supply the base figure, I'm just looking for a new head, paint apps and adding pouches, nothing I would think people would consider extreme. yeah that's a bit pricey. what are you looking to have made exactly? sounds like sculpted armor and a head plus paint over a body. unless you're just looking for a custom head to be sculpted and put on that shepard toy.

Pretty much the latter- new head, pain scheme and added pouches, but hell, even that last part is optional. I wouldn't think that would cost $450.

in that case, that's waaaay too much for that. sure sculpting a whole head is challenging but not that tough and a paint job shouldn't be too bad maybe. prolly would need the body first in order to judge scale and i imagine that toy prolly goes for like 20-30 bucks. at most i can imagine 100ish depending on the quality of work.

Yeah I have done commissions in the past, and for what you need, 450 is outrageous. I think if just adding a new head, adding details and a repaint is all you need, then $30 would be the max, especially since you are supplying the base.
I'd be happy to help you out. PM me if interested.

I could see $30-$50 depending, I mean even with you supplying the base figure, unless they have a perfect head on hand they'd have to buy another figure for the head, or sculpt one, so you'd be paying for time and materials. $450 is just plain outrageous
